  1. I agree, problem is we can't agree on which car to kit. Personally, I'd go ga-ga over a Boat Tail Riviera. Do I expect to see it in my lifetime? Not a chance.
  2. Many of the "new" kits are reissues of older kits. During the late 70's and early 80's, these cars were not kitted. This was the first era of video games and a seismic shift in activities of what was the traditional model buying public. If you did not want a Mustang, Corvette, Firebird or Camaro, few new kits were offered, maybe a pick up or a van. Because of that the "land yachts" you desire would have to be new molds. The sales of many of these cars more than likely wouldn't justify the mold costs.
  3. I hope whoever buys it will post the decals. I've got several of the MK reissues as well as the Slixx decals. If I buy it, its for the decals.
  4. Curious question. What was the original retail price of the 1:1 Ferrari 250 GT?
  5. The origination of Gremlin is from AMT. AMT released several kits with multi-piece bodies in their modified series. These included the Gremlin, a 65 Mustang, 36 Plymouth, 37 Chevy, 35 Chevy, 40 Ford. The Pinto and a Vega were released by MPC. The AMT kits had a great Tobias chassis with a bit of a funky interior. The MPC kits used a modified '57 Chevy chassis. Both were fairly accurate for their time frame. MPC also released a stock kit of a Pinto at the same time their modified kit was on the market, so I'm certain the stock version still exists. As far as I know, MPC never did a stock '34 Ford.
  6. It may be a quicky but I'd also call it a winner. Quite beautiful.
  7. Do a search. There have been many threads about Reliable Resin. I wish they were all positive but that would be an exception rather than a rule.
  8. I swear it looks like this....... Bet that gets a buzz going.
  9. The Revell Wild Willie car was a Charger. AMT had a Satellite, the MoPower car. Terrible tin work. I'd use the tin from your donor kit and modify it as needed.
  10. Have to agree. The first photo is impressive. And then the second, followed by the third...... Great builds!
  11. I had an Escort and lusted after an EXP (some early signs of dementia), While the base chassis were the same, that seems where 90%of the similarities ended. To quote Wikipedia, "Sharing the dashboard, wheelbase, suspension, and powertrain with the Ford Escort, the EXP was longer, lower, and more aerodynamic than its five-seat counterpart."
  12. I agree they never ran these in NHRA (if so it was darn rare) but maybe in Europe. When Glidden ran a Probe, around the time this body was made, it had an extended wheelbase. You just can't stuff a V8 in hat short of an engine bay.
  13. I fear the linked resin kit might not be available. When I bought mine, I was told the caster had passed and I bought the last two available.

This is one of those few reissues I missed and wish I'd gotten one. Nice build of a kit that I've feared would be quite difficult to get right. If I remember correctly it is listed as 1/20. Is that accurate?
  15. Late 70's could have been a single or a dual quad set-up or possibly a turbo. There were a few folks who tried blowers for the street. Great for show, but no go. For a street racer, I'd do either the carb set-up. A single carb was a lot easier to tune. Turbos were cool but a better option for a bit extra would be duals with nitrous. Turbos had a spool problem. Lots of top end but they were slow off the line.
  16. Back in the old days of Yahoo Messenger groups, Don was a stalwart on the old Straight Line Modeler group. I got to know him there. Very talented. He could create a silk purse out of less than a pig's ear. In the early MCM days or possibly its predecessor, Plastic Fanatic, Detail Master had a back cover ad every issue. Often the feature model would be something Don would build. He was one of the two best sportsman drag racing modelers I remember.
  17. That's a lot of detail in that build that I never thought was in the kit. The best build of that car.......ever.
  18. This less a model and more a work of art.
  19. Hmmmmm........I could see going to Walmart for that.
  20. So is it a certainty about Moebius making an A F/X or is that wishful thinking?
  21. For an engine that was so simple in 1:1 scale, you've put a bunch of detail into it. Looks great!
  22. Paul I'm curious why you took off the fenders. Looks great. Are you planning on making it an under construction car?
  23. I picked up the Moebius Butch Leal car, the Melrose Missile and already have the Satellite. I'd like to do the California Flash AWB '65 car. I've attached a photo. I know the California Flash car is part of building the AWB, but the question is which car to sacrifice to get the correct body and if there's other required parts in the body donor kit.
  24. Wow.......3d may finally have arrived. What kind of printer? Not only does the printer do a great job but your craftsmanship of making the files is noteworthy.
