Little Red Wagon
iBorg replied to Preston's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
This is one of those kits I bet over half were not completed and at least a quarter thrown against the wall. A very nice build of a VERY challenging kit. -
Wow that's so much better than I ever expected to see that kit built. Truly outstanding,,,,,,from a lump of.....well you know.

K&R Kustoms+Rods belly tanker update: 8/12/17
iBorg replied to Rocking Rodney Rat's topic in WIP: Model Cars
I have to admit when I read your first post and the use of the Long John body for the basis of your tanker, I feared you were doomed for failure. I never would have seen that possibility. Great imagination, great execution......this is going to be a great model. -
Lathe and spray booth question
iBorg replied to iBorg's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I appreciate your thought. One possible layout has them side by side, the other on different walls. Guess that's the winner. -
I think it would be a better possibility from Moebius. Either way I'd love to see it.

Looks nice.....a couple of suggestions.....The interior looks too clean for that amount of damage. Needs some dirt and trash on the seat. Also the dent in the dashboard (neat detail) would either show a light brown for foam rubber under the cover or bare metal with a bit of rust on it. This is going to be a fun build to watch.

I'm trying to get my shop up and going. I have a couple of Sherline lathes and milling machines. I also have a Passche spray booth. Could I put them beside each other is there too much contamination possibilities? Thanks, Mike

Curious question.......could this Ford be transformed into an Xfinity Mustang?

I have an unopened one I picked up last weekend. I'm still trying to sort through and get a functional shop. The decals are at least usable. I think there's some aftermarket ones around. I think I'm going to go for those. I was seriously hoping they'd do more the slicks. I don't think I'll use those. I have modified those in a lathe and removed the stupid lip on the outside. Makes a huge difference. Bob if you don't have the lit, PM me. I haven't forgotten you and what I need to send you.

Ferrari 333SP by Perry's Resin, wow!

Is the store still around? -
I'd love to know what technology Platto uses for his decals. He is unwilling to discuss it.

I'd like to see those released here.

You're talking about Whoopie Kat decals and Chuck Boerner ( connect via Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/chuck.boerner1/photos?lst=100000173943608%3A100002545154288%3A1498618997&source_ref=pb_friends_tl )

That wasn't what I was expecting when I saw the title 33 Willys. The correct title is "Maybe the best build of the AMT '33 Willys" The front end is difficult to paint correctly.....you nailed it. Overall a great build of a good kit that seems a bit harder to build than it should be.

Wow......very clever solution to a killer problem.

Ferguson Tractor
iBorg replied to JTRACING's topic in WIP: All The Rest: Motorcycles, Aviation, Military, Sci-Fi, Figures
Sweet. I grew up on a farm and that is weathered just like our Ford 9N tractor. -
I've ordered it......I'll do a comparison once it comes in.

I have a couple of build ups of the original Garlits RE-1 or SR 14 MPC kit as well as several of the gray goo plastic reissues. Does anyone have the new kit that can compare it to the previous versions? Plus any info on the quality of the decals? I've got several of the earlier reissues nd don't want to buy another unless there's something to gain. THANKS!

I think the scoop is fine. I seem to recall a seven inch height for Super Modified but MP could go a little higher.

Hobby Shops, then and now
iBorg replied to Ace-Garageguy's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I'm fortunate to have two reasonable shops near me. We had a third but when the patriarch died, the business soon faltered. The shop went from a welcoming shop that served both hobbyists and crafters to on that served neither market well. The two shops, located 15 miles apart are full line hobby shops with a craft range that excels beyond Hobby Lobby. The sad truth is they're nearing retirement age and the wife has told me that the shops will close as they don't believe they can sell at a reasonable price as one large inventory and their children have no interest. When that happens, it will be difficult to keep up with the hobby as I don't make many shows and don't want to order online. -
This is one of those kits I keep on hoping to see reissued...... I attempted it when I was 12 or 13 and may have some poorly pieces somewhere in a box. Great build!

Lindberg 72197 1/32 900 pumper fire truck
iBorg replied to forthlin's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
If you're willing to pay for shipping, I should be able to pick one up at my local Ollies on Tuesday if no one steps up before then.
