  1. Looks great. I have seen this blob before and passed on it as unsaveable. You look to be off to a great start. AMT really missed the boat on their funny car bodies. The Vega was a stock body (even though AMT never had a stock Vega), their Mustang II was too tall, their Satelite (the MoPower car) is just strange. I don't know about the Vette or their Monza but I wouldn't hold out hope for them.
  2. I absolutely love the first car posted. Seemed like a very logical predecessor to the last generation Mustang. I'm not complaining about the 2015, but this version seems to scream brutal performance to me.
  3. The Uncertain T was a classic in its day. I think it would be wonderful if it was reissued although I think prior to that Monogram would have to examine the original contract to figure out who owned the design and the intellectual property of the name. If the rights were signed over for the use of model kits, I see this kit being recreated and reissued. If not, or the original contract can not be found, this kit WILL NEVER be reissued. Just too much baggage to deal with.
  4. THANKS......worst thing is until a few months ago when I lost most of my parts boxes, I could have dug out everything on your list except the motor. At least I know what to start looking for.
  5. Hitherto Garliys kits is one of the first three kits I built (the others were Dyno's Cougar FC and the Candies and Hughes Cuda). Until recent issues I had an original boxed kit in my display case. The original issue had the frame diagonal, the iron on wrapped around the instructions and the chrome sorta bent in the middle to fit the kit box. As for the Cosmic Charger, Carl Casper has shown it at the Louisville Show. It is an absolutely stunning piece of art.
  6. Okay.....a build up I remember. If you were to recreate it today, what parts would you use that are fairly easy to obtain?
  7. It would be neat to have these well cast to go with the reissue. Seems like a kit I should build......of course that's the way it is with most of them.
  8. Then the question is how well did you remove the oven cleaner? That could be your problem.
  9. I've been rather involved in other issues and just had a chance to go through this build. VERYYYYY nice. Hopefully, someday soon I'll be able to return to the hobby.
  10. I now have a "nice" car. I hope that I never think I'm so special I take two spaces as close to the door as possible. Sorry to disappoint but the Corvette needs a ticket as much as the jeep. Of course, I'd prefer the jeep parking across the two spaces behind the Vette.
  11. Thanks for the suggestions..... My insurance adjuster is fine with me using eBay as a price guide.
  12. They're really a mixed collection. Some are rather rare (Bronson Harley, Mannix car) while some are Nascar T-birds. I wish I had been able to make a good list of each and every kit but when you're sorting through a hundred kits, you don't have time. You take your best shot and hope its fair.
  13. For insurance purposes I need a reasonable price for various bagged kits. What's a fair price per bagged kit? Some of these are common while others date to the late 60's. Thanks, Mike
  14. Its a common enough kit, I'd get another one before I tore that one apart.
  15. the RIGHT choice for an MG C. That by the way is one of the scariest cars I've ever rode in. A poor man's Shelby 427.
  16. Would love to get google earth to let me walk the aisles.....cool feature. Keeps crashing on me.
  17. You got the tin right! Hat off to you.....seems everyone else misses it.
  18. Thanks for the memories...... When both Gary and Garlits were pushing the envelope with their streamliners, my interest in drag racing was at its peak. When Ormbsy died, it was the start of my loss of interest in the sport. Now if I was given tickets to the "big show," I doubt I'd go.
  19. Tip of the hat to Vince Nelson, otherwise known as vintagedragcrazy. Just finished swapping some Ohio George decals.....now if I could figure out where my wife put them......
  20. In many ways this shares a lot with MPC's later year Corvettes (1969-1973?). What seems to me is that scaled up their 1/20th later Vette and then created new parts to create the 1963. A bit of background..... The MPC 1/20th Corvette was released as a near current model year in 1969. Then in the early 70's Revell released their successful 1/16th drag kits. MPC responded with their 1971 Nascar Charger and then followed with both this kit and a 1957.
  21. MPC was a bit madding when this kit was first issued. Their 1/25 kits had so-so detail with a few exceptions but their 1/20th stuff had detail that would stack up well with most kits today. One of the first kits I built was their 1/20th 1969 Corvette. . Then this kit....the same can be said. Very nicely detailed. It seemed that MPC had two skill levels then. One for 1/25th, which was lower and 1/20th which was a true replica. I agree with Dave that the scale is the issue. I can't see many people getting excited about 1/20th. The most successful 1/20th series is the Tamiya F! series. This doesn't seem to fit in well with that series. It is too small to display well with 1/16ths and too large for 1/25ths.
  22. I'd love to see some tutorials about how you did the lathe/mill work. The results look fantastic. Mike
  23. What Chrysler did on their pro stock leaf springs was to use offset brackets the moved the springs inboard. This got a bit more space for the tires. Another thing to remember about the 1970 Pro Stock rules (at least NHRA) was these were an outgrowth of Super Stock rules. The original PS rules were so limited, thet had a specific front rear weight balance (no mmore than 55% on rear) required in the rules. Mant of the cars carried spares to help make that weight rule.
  24. I remember this kit when it was first issued (showing my age). It was kitted in might be considered one of Revell's zeniths. They did this kit not long after the funny cars and the dragsters. One of Revell's gems. Sadly, many would say the 240Z falls short with an undersized body. I'm not sure if this body is to scale or not. Compared to the MPC and AMT stock cars, this was head and heels more accurate. I see a hobby shop run coming up later this week.
