  1. I remember it and thought it was stupid as a twelve year old. Now that I'm in my fifties, I know its stupid. Of course, I'm sure some will pay stupid prices for it.
  2. The comment about the bodies is interesting. Mos of the funnies in this period had flat bodies. Often times metal would be added to reinforce the lower edge. What I hate about these Vegas, is I haven't seen one (and I bought them in the seventies) where the body didn't curl in at the rear wheel wells.
  3. Great help. I'm wanting to do something in the Arlen Ness low rider vein of the 70's but updated a bit to this decade.
  4. Larson's '70 Camaro DID have a working door.
  5. John.....to bring up a really old thread can you give me details on how you made the decals using the prism paper? Thanks!
  6. The funny cars of this era had defined door lines. See: http://red428cat.tripod.com/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/69cougarfunnyhighcountry2.jpg The door lines should be present but barely noticeable.
  7. I grew up near Lexington.....Are there any good model shops there? Last time I looked there was Hobby Lobby and Hobbytown. I miss the days of X-cel. Mike
  8. Anyone find this kit yet in Hobby Lobby? Seems I will be near one and have a 40% off coupon on my phone.....
  9. Quick build....I could spend a life time and not have anything that nice.
  10. Bet its on sales floors in 18 months.
  11. This is the first set of Slixx decals I ever bought. After researching the car, I determined there was no way to reproduce it with those decals. You've proved me wrong......very wrong. Absolutely killer build.......tremendous paint job.
  12. I'm quite impressed. I have to agree I love the tires. What did you get them or did you make them? If so, please share your method.
  13. It depends on the box art. Annuals that clearly show the date and were issued that year, say a 1968 Camaro issued in 1969, will hold their value. Failing that and street cars loose value when the original molds are reissued such as the AMT/Ertl Plymouth Duster and their values will fall. Show cars with significantly different boxes maintain value. Race cars tend to fluxatate more depending upon the driver.
  14. After spending a bunch of time on a 1971 Motown Missile 'Cuda including several hours of getting the chassis right, I'm ready to start over. Mercy that chassis looks good. Wonder how close that 1970 body is to the '71? So when is this going to be available?
  15. I never expected to see this car modeled. VERY NICE! For safe keeping, may I suggest you box it and send it to West Virginia? I'll pm you a safe address. Mike
  16. Very nice..... They look the part of the originals.
  17. Actually I think the crinkled glass was intentional. The cars had no interior. This could have been done to hide that. It is interesting to note these are mainly Jo-Han promos that had this effect. I have had some and the outside of the glass was perfect therefore my belief it was intentional. I can post pictures if desired.
  18. I'd be ashamed I'd driven any of those yet alone all three. Hmmmmm. A fish bowl with lack lauster air conditioning, A Vega with a new body or a girl that a girlfriend had that had not one but four bolts drop out of the main bearings over a one year period. All were BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH but I do remember one Chevette with a Chevy II four banger that was a kicker dirt track racer.
  19. I've got a Revival Ferrari and can only dream it will look as good as yours when finished. I know it has body issues which has really stopped my from trying to work on it. Your work is inspiring as to the possibilities.
  20. I remember Tom West, the designer of the Aurora kits bemoaning the kit bodies. One of them, I believe the Pinto won't sit on the kit chassis without major work. As for price, if I remember the prices correctly the Revell kits sold for about 2/3rds the price of the Aurora kits and the Revell kits were name cars. I do remember these being blown out at several non hobby shops. When I think about that and the K-Mart Pochers, I do want to kick myself.
  21. If you were to merge the nose of the black one with everything else of the white car is the best option in my humble opinion.
  22. Yep that's Revell.....as for the comments on the bodies. We can dream.....Camaro, Cuda would be my first two choices.
