  1. Definitely out of the box thinking and styling Michelle. Great concept, one of those where I say, "Why didn't I think of that?" Excellent build.
  2. Outstanding. Each build you complete gets better and better. I like the way you add music appropriate to the year of your build. Keep 'em coming Michelle.
  3. I've had issues with Testors wet look clear. I stopped using it because the last two cans I bought seemed closer to a flat or semi gloss clear rather than a high gloss. Tamiya TS-13 and Mr. Color are superior clear coats in my opinion.
  4. I use both of them and they look pretty much the same to my old eyes.
  5. If your looking for a very bright yellow I can offer two suggestions. The first may be a bit hard to find since it's been discontinued. Testors Model Master Lacquer Spray #28103 Daytona Yellow. Last time I got it was from Model Roundup. The second is a similar color, Mr. Color Spray #4 Yellow (Lacquer). Mr. Color is available via https://www.usagundamstore.com/pages/search-results-page?collection=mr-color-spray&page=4 It's near the bottom of the page. Both are very bright and close to what your looking for with the Buick GSX Saturn Yellow. I've never used Scale Finishes paints so I can't offer an opinion. In fact, you'd be surprised how much some of the late 60's and early 70's colors actually have a good amount of "pop", i.e., the Chrysler Hi Impact colors and Ford colors (Vermillion, Hulla Blue, Anti-Establishment Mint, etc.), AMC "Big Bad" colors, GM Citrus Green, Mille Miglia Red, Mulsanne Blue, etc. You are correct though, in that those earlier attempts to offer bright or intense colors were limited by the technology of the time. Modern paint technology is far and away more able to offer incredible colors in a huge array of hues that weren't possible back then. Hope this helps.
  6. Mike C, thanks for your input. Good information about thinning the paint. I imagine some experimentation would determine what might work for me. Mr. Moto, thank you for the photos. I see what you mean about the size of the nozzles. I've been so attached to my Paasche's for so many years, I find it difficult to consider any other airbrush. But your photos are leading me to a decision to make the purchase of the Grex. I'm wondering if their hose attachment points will fit my braided air hoses or will I have to purchase the Grex brand air hose. I can't thank all of you enough for keeping this thread alive and continuing to offer input.
  7. I know you’re trying to help. Believe me I appreciate the suggestions and I thank you for taking the time to do so. I’m not sure what you mean by metal side cup. I have metal color cups for both my Paasche’s, but neither holds enough paint. I need the bottle because of the amount of paint it holds. I’ll normally use the color cups when doing finer details like the red on this Olds 442, which only needed a small amount of paint after masking. But even the color cups I have issues with holding.
  8. Dave, yes I have tried changing my gripping position. No dice. The arthritis is so bad I can't even grip the paint bottle attached to my current Paasche airbrushes. My workhorse has always been my Paasche H series, and from time to time I use my VL series. The problem for me is I can't hold the paint bottle. It simply falls out of my hand. I even tried to tape the paint bottle to the airbrush by wrapping the tape around the bottle then to the airbrush but that isn't stable enough. I'll take a look at Mr. Patterson's videos anyway, never know. Rob, thanks for your positive review of the Spraygunner, good info.
  9. Thanks to all of you for your responses. Rick, I'll be sure to check out that video, thanks. Mr. Moto, great input, I wasn't aware of that information, I'm just starting my research on the TG3 airbrush. DPNM, thanks for the links. I saw Spraygunner on Amazon but apparently a purchase direct from the company is a bit cheaper. That would be the way to go if I decide to make the investment. Input like this is why forums like this one can be very valuable knowledge wise. Lots for me to think about too.
  10. Rick, Thanks for your response. I wanted to ask before I made the investment because this airbrush isn't cheap. Do you find it easy to clean as well? I've never used a gravity feed airbrush but it looks well made and fairly easy to use.
  11. It's been several years since I posted on this site. Because of advanced arthritis in both hands, I'm unable to use either of my Paasche airbrushes. I've been considering a purchase of the Grex TG3, mostly because of the pistol grip feature. I'm curious if anyone has practical experience using this particular airbrush. If so, would you be good enough to share your thoughts. I've been making do with rattle cans but I really miss airbrushing. If you have experience with the airbrush do you think this tool would allow someone with advanced arthritis to be able to paint with it comfortably? Many thanks for any responses. http://grexusa.com/grexairbrush/products.php5?id=MF.TG
  12. If you're referring to their synthetic lacquers, then yes, the rattle can paint from Mr. Color is excellent sprayed right from the can. Some colors are gloss, others are flat and require a clear coat. I would say it's every bit as good as Tamiya Lacquer. Mr. Color #46 clear gloss is very good as well. It's a lot harder to find those paints in the US though, but Sprue Brothers carries most of their colors in both rattle can and bottles for airbrushing.
  13. John, I think that's the best looking 59 I've ever seen. I love the powder blue color and mild custom look. A superb model.
  14. You certainly can. I mix them all the time.
  15. That is a stunning color Stephen. Very nice build.
  16. I really like this build. Especially the nostalgia look and flat black color. The red wheels make it pop, very well done.
  17. Beautiful build, great color combo.
  18. Very nice build, I like the two tone color scheme.
  19. Very nicely done. Where do you get the decals? I love the color, seems like it was very popular on these cars.
  20. I also have no clue why my response above appears as a quote instead of a normal response. ?
  21. I like it. I think it looks good in yellow. Not a color you see very often with these cars. Very nice build.
  22. I have both the 2014 and 2015 Corvette promos, and neither Revell nor AMT appear on the boxes. It appears as though Len is correct since the bottom of the window boxes have "ivy promo.com" printed.
