  1. Gorgeous engine work! this is going to be GREAT. Note - there's nothing wrong with what you're doing with the braided hose, but you might want to look at Alex Kustov'e tutorial on making flexible ducts & hose...quick and simple. Just choose a rod of the diameter you need to wrap the wire around. http://www.italianho...se/flexhose.htm
  2. This is a superb piece of work. Looks simple, doesn't it? But clearly it's very complex. Photograph it on the proper background and you wouldn't be a be able to tell it's a model.
  3. So, show us the chair you model in next to your own car. Looks good to me. As for the conversion question, just bookmark a conversion site like the one listed above.
  4. While there is no buying or selling allowed on this forum, I have seen a number of posts from people with kits to sell that provide for PM inquiries or links to selling sites. It would be interesting to know what kind of success has resulted from that approach. Or is there a policy against that as well? If there is, that may be a good thing to keep such advertising from becoming too common on the forum.
  5. I wholeheartedly agree with the above comments (especially Danno's ). Have at it.
  6. Harry never retouches the subject on Real or Model. The RoM images are exactly as he finds them (I've tracked down a few of the original sources and I can vouch for that). On Auto ID, he just hides the identifying badging.
  7. I got mine mail order directly from them. http://www.spazstix.com/

  9. Wow, that's outstanding in every detail. And your first after a 15-year break? Double wow.
  10. When you re-made the decals, did you use white decal paper (and painstakingly cut them out) or an ALPS printer for the white outlines?
  11. From The Encyclopedia of Scale Models: Minicraft is a manufacturer of model kits and acccessories. The company was founded by former Revell export manager, Al Trendle, and his wife Mary in Torrance, California in 1960. Minicraft worked closely with Korean manufacturer Academy for many years until 1999. In 2001, the Trendles sold the company to David and Norma Duff, who had represented Minicraft through their agency, Huff & Huff Sales & Marketing Associates. After buying the company, the Huffs moved it to Elgin, Illinois. David Huff passed away in 2008. In 2010, Norma Duff is owner and president of Minicraft, with Lewis Nace as vice president. My Rolls kit shows both the Illinois and UK addresses on the box.
  12. Supposedly, the kit is based on the only factory-approved RR promo ever made. Looks like it's going to take a lot of work to make it look less toylike - some heavy mold seams on the body, nothing approaching a suspension, tires seem too small, hubcaps are too flat, the engine is a blob, and the Flying Lady mascot is way too big. But the body looks pretty accurate. Here's one of the better builds I've seen, where they mention that Hubley also originally issued it as a friction model. http://www.modelcarsonline.com/Galleries/Imports/1962%20Rolls%20Royce%20Silver%20Cloud/1962%20Rolls%20Royce%20Silver%20Cloud.htm
  13. If the kit manufacturers follow the 1:1 marketplace for potential successes, I wonder why there isn't a more recent Ford F-series pickup. It's been the best-selling vehicle of any type in America for many years, and the latest kit I can find is a 1997 F-150 in different versions. The Chevy Silverado is #2.
  14. I have the relatively current Minicraft "Phantom Squire" version (the one with the nasty woody decals). Body, chassis and interior are all the same gray as in the photo above, and the axle is a chrome plastic version of a metal axle. The box is mislabeled as a 1/16 model, which it is not, and there never was a 1/16 version. I'm guessing that they may have had plans to do one, which they didn't, but used the wrong box art.
  15. Hmmm. That's very interesting. It doesn't seem to gibe with the reference I posted above, which has Gowland as the originator and Revell as the US marketer that made these unsuccessful UK kits sell well in the US.
  16. You STILL haven't said whether the diecast models you're talking about were re-done or not. Were original, unmodified diecasts passed off as original builder work without any changes? What's the story???
  17. I'm not sure what the Camaro shot has to do with anything, but I think the 1999 Charger owes more to the Viper than the Camaro.
  18. Very, very nice, though the hood fit looks questionable.
  19. Regarding the 1999 concept Charger, it never hurts to do some homework. I would presume that the professional engineers and designers at Chrysler have something of a clue about what they're doing... http://www.conceptca.../T-Concept.aspx
  20. Is this 1999 concept car the one you're talking about? I agree, it's one of the most beautiful full-size sedans developed in over a decade, and would still be a winner in 2012. I just wonder if the current battering ram / brick on wheels design with a taller rear roof profile wasn't chosen as a competitor to the Crown Victoria, for more fleet / police use, and therefore higher volume
  21. Highway Pioneers, (I think they were all by Gowland & Gowland). I had them all, and building them with my Father was how I got into the hobby. I think Revell also boxed them, and they'e around 1/32 scale. The figures, of course, look like they've had too much Human Growth Hormone. I built Gowland's very cool stagecoach, Roman chariot and Queen Elizabeth II's coronation coach, all with nicely detailed horses. I also had the large-scale Gowland Maxwell pull toy (another Revell reissue), which is shown in the "obscure kits" thread on this forum. There's some background in the intro paragraphs of this page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Revell

Excellent job. And you got the side chrome strip just right, at the proper thickness.
  23. The only times I see that is when someone tries to clean up their Photobucket albums and deletes a shot on the Photobucket site; that will also delete it from any posts where the image was pasted. After all, posted images are essentially links.
  24. Okay, I agree I should be more tolerant about the pace, and you have my apology. But it's kind of like watching a cliffhanger on a TV show that won't be back until a year later. You've established an avid audience, including me., who want to see more. Keep on truckin' and I'll look forward to seeing the finished product.
  25. Sorry, Shane, I don't understand what you're talking about. Where is this under glass? The OP just added another post about his WIP today. And please take a look at the last post.
