  1. $160 doesn't sound bad at all for the size and features.
  2. Oh, look, it's a reference to an earlier issue I mentioned at the very beginning of this thread. But I didn't stop helping. In any case, thanks for your comments, Cato. Looks like you ran into the same guy that caused me to start this topic.
  3. My Holy Grail kit is the original Imai / Bandai 1:8 E-Type. Unlike the Monogram / Revell versions, it has an opening rear hatch and no lower body seams, according to builders. Super expensive these days, and frankly, Unobtanium.
  4. It's most likely a '61 or an early '62. Those were the only model years with external bonnet latches, which are molded onto the kit. In any case, it's a Series 1 3.8L car with a flat floor.
  5. Out of curiosity, what was the price?
  6. For a more advanced builder wanting to do the Yellow Rolls, the 1/24 Italeri Cadillac Town Car might provide a start using its main body shell on the Maharajah. Maybe Revell's '31 Model A sedan.
  7. Somehow, my last response asking if the correct path would be "Le Baron Rouge" didn't appear here, but I'll continue... if that's correct, then... 1. Art's body is based on a 1932 limousine for the Chrysler Imperial by Le Baron. 2. He will use a Monogram donor kit from one of the many 1:24 Monogram Duesenberg versions (though all of them are SJ cars). Therefore..."Ah, but the kit source, that's where I had them, they laughed at me and made jokes, but I proved beyond the shadow of a doubt, with geometric logic, that Art is putting one over on us. Naturally, I can only cover these things from memory. If I left anything out, why, just ask me specific questions and I'll be glad to answer them." And ergo, the body paint should be strawberry red. Extra points to anyone who can identify the source of my solution.
  8. So far, all I've got is Colonel Mustard in the library with the rope, but the Sherlockian instincts are closing in and results will be coming soon.
  9. Google can't find a single reference to a coach builder by that name (Or could that possibly be a pseudonym for a distinguished model designer and builder?? If so, are you a Commie, or a Viking, like Erik Le Rouge?). Or do I misunderstand again, and you pump iron every day? Anyway, what color scheme do you have in mind? These limousines are gorgeous -- I can't imagine what it would be like to see one floating by.
  10. Couldn't find this limousine body style from a coachbuilder named Le Rouge, but I did find similar ones from Willoughby, Rollston and Judkins. Are you sure it wasn't Duesenberg's in-house La Grande coach builders?
  11. I'm guessing you say that because the car's in the Louwman Museum in the Netherlands.
  12. Steering wheel rims could be white, black, wood, or in some cases tan as in a couple of 500Ks. The only thing that looks odd about this steering wheel to me is that the spokes should be all polished metal with a black inset line in the middle of each spoke.
  13. Perhaps you've used up the allotted image space for posting direct to the forum?
  14. Have it re-cast in resin?
  15. Yes, that's a part of it I left out. Thanks to all for your good wishes.
  16. Yes, both of you have excellent points and I have done that successfully before. In some cases, however, the recipient is not computer-savvy enough to figure out how to download or their system can't handle it, so I just send them what they can deal with. And things like lengthy instruction sheets and kit parts can't be handled that way. But more than anything, it's the lack of recognition of my efforts that bothers me. You would think that sending the upper body of a 1:8 XK-E to the Netherlands, expensively but free of charge, would be worthy of thanks, but no. I have never charged anyone for any of this stuff.
  17. This is about going out of your way to help someone and getting no response in return. I was cussed out by another member (now banned) once upon a time for whining on this subject, but what's your experience? This has happened 3-4 times to me on this forum. I have sent instructions, rare body parts and reference CDs around the world, at no charge, to members who never bothered to thank me. I was approached over a month ago in a PM for information about building the 1:16 Mercedes SS. I corresponded with him to assess his needs. - I have massive reference on the 1:1 car and models, and spent about an hour transferring my files onto 2 CDs. - I drove to the post office and spent about 30 minutes in line, plus $13.00 in postage, to send the CDs to the UK, at no charge to him. - I sent him the customs number. - I have asked him 3 times over the past several weeks if he has received the package, with no response. I've about given up on helping others with my large resources. What would you do?
  18. This is really just another test to see if if Firefox really works with Photobucket. In any case, this is the original car from which the 1:16 model kit was taken. The Entex/Anmark box art makes the color look like it's gray. The second color along the sides is a very light gold or similar color.
  19. This worked, but not my previous attempt on another topic.
  20. What difference does it make? It's your model to do with as you wish, and I'd I'll lay heavy odds that only a few modelers follow the box art.
