  1. I got some nice tires and wheels made by Le Mans Miniatures for slot cars; in my case, I got excellent piano wire wheels for the very good 1/32 Bugatti T59 kits by Pyro and AMT. This source has a few, but look around at various slot car parts suppliers: http://www.ncphobbies.com/slot-cars-1/32/
  2. They prolly cain't afford them purty Purdey shotguns at over $100,000 a pair, but if they cain't bring down British pheasants, they can sure mess up a passel of possums. Yummy.
  3. What paint did you use to approximate Alu-Beam? I'd think Alclad would do the job.
  4. Harry P has done work on this kit and can give you some guidance. Send him a PM. Art Anderson also knows all the details.
  5. Here's another angle on the body, which looks spot-on to me. I'll go out on a limb and predict that Marvin & Co. will provide the necessary hardware/chrome pieces and louvers.
  6. I see you haven't house trained it yet.
  7. Wheels same red as body with silver tabs on the rims. White tires. Engine should probably have a green block. Plenty of reference material available online.
  8. I'll say real, too, but for all the reasons above it looks so heavily retouched that it becomes original art. In that case, it would be neither real nor model. Maybe a Photoshop fantasy.
  9. Spectacular guns.
  10. I've seen plenty of leather, fabric and other material gun cases for a single, fully assembled shotgun, but not like the one you're making. But I guess It would be custom-made anyway. This project looks fabulous.
  11. You'll notice in the link to a built kit (one of the best I've seen) that the hood doesn't fit properly and needs attention. Again, you'll want to find some larger tires. As mentioned, lots of detailing and accurizing needed. The windshield frame needs attention, too. The Lindbergh box is very misleading since it shows a 1:1 car, but at least it provides reference.
  12. I thought the Visible Woman was pretty hot.
  13. I have Grandt Line delrin chain, the smallest I could find, which is still too wide and thick for the brake cable for my 1/16 Bugatti, and would be too big for a 1/24-25 bicycle. That Top Studio motorcycle chain looks possible for my needs, but I'd sure have to check actual size before I spent the money.
  14. Yes, the Auburn wheels and tires are too small in the Lindbergh kit; they were more accurate in the original Pyro version, but they were 2-part plastic wheel/tire molded together. However, the Auburn is 1/25, so you'd need to check compatibility with the Cadillac.
  15. Boy, is that an understatement. I couldn't believe that Revell/Monogram would put their name on the reissues.
  16. Beautiful work. I saw a rerun of "Chasing Classic Cars" yesterday, where Wayne Carini bought a '53 sedan. Note to builders: The antenna is attached to the chrome of the windshield, and a knob inside swivels it down in front of the chrome on the split.
  17. I found the Visible V8 box art very appealing when I built it as a kid. I was about the same age as the boy, and my Father smoked a pipe just like the dad in the picture.
  18. Bear in mind that the Pocher body will be 1/8, but it's possible they could be using Wingrove plans -- Gerald Wingrove usually builds one-offs in 1/15 scale; you can see his spectacular 8c2900B in galleries 4&5 in the Alfa 2.9 section at geraldwingrove.com I can't find any info on Stephen Pombo.
  19. I'm not sure how this got moved from Big Boyz ("Anything to do with large scale cars"), but here we are. But even if you wouldn't buy an expensive, large-scale car, your opinion is still welcome.
  20. Beautiful piece of work. The metallic paint, surprisingly, doesn't look out of scale. Need a lot more shots.
  21. Model Motor Cars is coming out with something of a holy grail for me, a new Alfa 8C 2900 Mille Miglia body; fits on the Pocher Alfas. Due early 20016. Here's a real one... I can't afford the Pocher kit, so I'd have to do the body like Ralph Lauren's pre-restoration version..
  22. This poll is directed primarily at current or potential large-scale modelers; most of the members here prefer 1/24-25 scales, and I thought that might disproportionately affect the results. If the poll results in enough interest, I planned to submit it to Hornby/Pocher and their aftermarket supporters.
  23. This poll is directed mainly at large-scale builders, who would be the primary audience for such a product. If they were to offer a complete kit with no shopping around for conversion pieces, would you buy a 1/8 XK-E convertible from Pocher? It could also provide upgrade parts for the Revell/Monogram coupe kit, and would offer drivetrain parts for some hot rods. With aftermarket Pocher parts usually provided by companies like modelmotorcars.com and Brady Ward (over time) you wouldn't have to buy a complete kit to upgrade the coupe. However... NEWS BULLETIN: Marvin at modelmotorcars.com tells me they will no longer handle Pocher kits because the company is too hard to deal with. It appears, though, that they will still offer parts. In fact, they're issuing a new Alfa 8C 2900 body for Alfa kits next year. But they're less than enthusiastic about joining me in proposing the Jag to Hornby/Pocher.
