  1. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Somebody quote me.
  2. You could use a pseudonym. Many authors do that. Eventually they would have to pay me. That's when they find out my real name. Unless they would be wiling to actually publish something from me under an alias. But I think when Gregg found out, he wouldn't be too happy... Nor would Jim Haught, you naughty boy!
  3. Today, if I try to enter directly in a reply box using my iPad, I get taken to an ad/404 not found text entry page. So I still have to quote someone (such as myself here) in order to post.
  4. Do you still have the instructions? I'd like to do a trade. (PM also sent)
  5. Note that the Alfa kit is a replica of a replica, commissioned in 1966 by Alfa from Zagato, as an anniversary car. I believe it has a 1600 engine. It's true to the replica but not to an original 1750 Zagato.

Is that the kit that has the wire wheels molded on clear plastic?
  7. Would the Koo CDs be helpful for building the 1/16 Rolls PII and Mercedes 540K? I downloaded the Pocher manuals for detail reference.
  8. Au contraire, mon frere. (that's French for "no way, José".... I lowered the cowl and the hood sides by the same amount, so the louvers still line up. If I took 3/16 off the bottom of the cowl and 3/16 off the bottom of the hood side panels, how could they not line up? Well done and you're lucky it was that simple. I realize you may not have set the body aft as much as I did (~7mm) to get the wheels centered. That changes a lot; you're working with the longer wheelbase model - a different platform. Plus we may have different fender apron thicknesses as you have the full fenders. Anyway, I'm glad you're getting a good result. Fine about the hood hinge. But when painted, I will round the hex off the 00-90's and they will be in position like the prototype's chrome buttons which act as rests when the hood half is peeled open. So as not to scratch paint. __________________________ That detail about the hood buttons is something I rarely if ever see other modelers do. I think there might be a male/female aspect to the buttons on opposite sides (convex meets recessed), but that could be my optical delusion. Regardless of body styles, don't all Pocher Rolls kits have the same chassis/wheelbases?
  9. Agreed. The tires look just as white as many archive photos I've seen.
  10. The pictures and the model look fantastic on my desktop iMac, but squashed on my iPad Air tablet. Maybe it's a mobile app thing.
  11. Anybdy ever hear of the Industrial Revoution in the mid-19th century? Forget anything that went before regarding man's influence on the environment. It's 99% happened since then.
  12. As I recall, you once did an auto ID on a British car manufacturer that started out exactly that way -- converted around WWII to serve as shuttle/mail cars.
  13. If this kit is as good as the other Johan Gold Cup Series classic kits, it should be outstanding. One caveat: I have found that the reissued versions of the Mercedes 500K that are NOT Gold Cup kits are not produced as well -- more flash, inconsistent chrome. These reissues generally have a white border around the box top art.
  14. For some reason, when I try to reply to other posts today using my iPad, as I start to enter in the reply box it takes me to a blank text entry page called googleadservices. It seems to let me reply if I quote someone.
  15. You really do a great job on 30s classics, Eric. I just received the Monogram Henley PII convertible version, apparently a first edition 1965 kit. For crispness and all-around nice touches, I'd rate it up there with Johan's original (not reissued) 1/25 Gold Cup series classics like their Mercedes 500 K kits. This Rolls is head and shoulders above Monogram's Mercedes 540 K kits.
  16. Just spectacular. One of the best models I've ever seen.
  17. A Roger Zimmerman masterpiece.
  18. For amazing brass work on the subtleties of car models, Roger Zimmerman is right up there with Gerald Wingrove. You can see his 1956 Continental in progress in the Large Scale Cars section of scalemotorcars.com
  19. Are you referring to me? I've posted the same complaint on the new site thread, but it also seems pertinent to this discussion and could possibly relate to others with the same issues. Isn't this thread about problems with posting images?
  20. Without beating this into the ground (well, maybe), this is now the only forum that doesn't work with my ancient Safari 4.1 browser, so I can't post either text or images from my iMac desktop, OSX 10.4.1. That's too old to use any other browser. I can enter text from my iPad, but images remain a problem just because I haven't figured it out (very labor-intensive and brain-challenging).
  21. Good to know. I've got tons of Phantom II reference including LHD, and I've ordered the Henley Roadster so I can make a better analysis.
  22. Thanks! It is coming along pretty well, but that's because I did that "practice" version first! No, never have had anything of mine in the magazine. Seems sort of a "conflict of interest" to me. That makes no sense. The people who publish should be able to conduct a master class in their subject. I guess I think people would see it as sort of shady if people who put out the magazine put their own work in it. Goes to credibility, Your Honor. Proves that editorial opinions are based on first-hand knowledge and skill. Conflict of interest? Well, there must me megabucks involved if you decided to jump on the MCM gravy train, so that's understandable (As for the skill part, can someone fix these ridiculous strings of quotes?)
