  1. May I suggest a pair of Purdey double-barrel, side-by-side shotguns for milord's shooting party? You're exceptional at building luggage. http://www.icollector.com/Pair-of-Purdey-full-side-lock-double-barrel-side-by-side-shotguns-in-original-leather-over-oak-carr_i8787495 "Pair of Purdey full side lock double-barrel side by side shotguns, in original leather over oak carrying case with label in lid. Serial numbers 17550 and 17551. The pair show 30 barrels, nitro proofed for 2-1/2 shells and 3 tons (now opened to 2-3/4). Both guns are beautifully scroll and floral engraved and show best London quality....They are cased within their original to-the-period English style red-lined case, which shows James Purdey label in lid with south Audley street address, and original label denoting charges showing correct serial number. The case remains in original very good condition and shows the name H. D. Stanning, Leyland embossed in top of leather cover." Perfect for shooting pheasants. Or peasants.
  2. Coming along nicely, at Harry's usual combination of speed and excellence. Have you decided on paint color yet?
  3. How many Seven models have you built?
  4. ??? I would think you would start with some thin card stock and a pencil, make the basic shape and take it from there. But I would also think that your question is rhetorical.
  5. He has a lengthy library of tips, tricks and tutorials that I hope he'll move over here He is far from a newbie.
  6. Just for those who may be unaware, he's been a major contributor on the "other" forum for many, many years and has a lot to share.
  7. As an experienced wooden ship modeler, you should have zero problems.
  8. Glad to see you finally came over here. I look forward to you sharing your knowledge and experience on this forum.
  9. I like Evergreen clear styrene sheets. If you look at Harry's builds, he gets excellent results from Lexan.
  10. The pictures Christian posted are the only ones I've ever seen in that green/aqua color, and they're both from a 540K, but that doesn't mean his info is incorrect. I've seen some 500K restorations with polished valve cover (with or without engine-turned pattern), black cylinder head and body-color block, plus other variations, but by far most of the survivors have the aluminum/black/silver combo seen here... This is probably closer to what Ray has in mind.
  11. Same deal with the transition of the Mercedes SSK (Super Sport Short wheelbase) to the SSKL (Super Sport Short/Light) with drilled frame rails.
  12. Just spectacular. All I would suggest would be to rough up the tire treads a bit to complete the veteran look.
  13. You're misquoting. It should be "who'd have THUNK it," or "who'd'a thunk it," an old colloquial phrase popularized by Mary McCarthy in "The Group." You shoulda went with the intent. ?
  14. I would assume the base plate replicates the 1:1 belly pan. The Tamiya kit belly pan is quite accurate, though it's molded in clear so you can see the space frame. I think they were always painted gray regardless of body color.
  15. Wherever you find what you're looking for, you'll still have to scale down and print on decal paper, as crazyjim said. Go to Google Images and play with the search terms you want, or ratfink.com, open and drag the art to your desktop or do a selective screen shot on whatever you open up. This was a search for rat fink art: http://www.google.com/search?tbm=isch&hl=en&source=hp&q=rat+fink+art&gbv=2&oq=ratfink+art&gs_l=img.1.0.0i10l5.3600.7125.0.10844.11.11.0.0.0.0.312.1166.8j1j1j1.11.0.msedr...0...1ac.1.34.img..0.11.1165.WQhTyl_51sQ
  16. Looks like you're closing in on a complete set of all the 1/16 classics.
  17. One good way to judge building options is to check out the 1:1 vehicle on Google Images. Lots of color scheme and building variations to look at.
  18. Good tutorial: http://www.italianhorses.net/Tutorials/Window%20Masks/masks.htm
  19. I found the article about this car, so you don't have to track down the T&C magazine. Fascinating, and sad to see the kind of cars that are being hoarded along with it. http://www.caranddriver.com/features/wheels-of-fortune-the-10m-mercedes-500k-that-vanished-feature
  20. Lots of Johan Mercedes 500K kits on eBay. http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_odkw=1%2F16&_sop=10&_armrs=1&_from=R10&_pcats=1188%2C220&_osacat=2580&_from=R40&_trksid=p2045573.m570.l1313.TR0.TRC2.A0.H0.Xjohan+mercedes+500k.TRS1&_nkw=johan+mercedes+500k&_sacat=2580
  21. Lee -- go to the link I posted in #6 above and you'll see that red is indeed a good choice.
  22. If you want red with a tan interior, you won't find it in the coupe -- I think only 4 of them were made, none of them red. Blue or black would be alternative paint. Here's a Spezial Roadster version -- JoHan also made a kit of these, which were more common than the coupes.
  23. Our moderators seem to be a bit slow in knowing how to deal with a dickbag. Would scumbag be a better keyword?
  24. The original car was the burgundy as seen in the restored photo above (no whitewalls), along with my interior description. The kit was issued first in the Gold Cup series, molded in the perfect color. It was reissued in red as seen in the OP, and has much more flash, and my kit of that reissue has parts that are not completely chromed. Look for the Gold Cup version, which is right up there with any Tamiya kit. Excellent: Great, but not as crisp: Scroll down toward the bottom here to see a build of the reissue: http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=101283&page=2
