  1. Do you have some reference for that? I really want to get it right. Never heard the term "hunting brake" used in relation to these cars, only in the literal French translation of shooting brake as "break de chasse." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shooting-brake
  2. Monogram did a few 1/25 cars from the tools they got from Aurora, like the Maserati 3500 GTi and the Aston.
  3. How would you apply that process to plastic kits like the SS100 or Phantom II, which don't come with door hinges?
  4. Fabulous roof, especially the interior part. As for the spare tire wheel covers, I can't say I've seen fabric covers that go over the entire wheel. I've seen fabric covers over tires but not wheels. I'll repeat my offer to send you two complete PII wheels if you'll clean up an SS 100 gauge photo that I can make decals from, plus the steering wheel hub art for the Mercedes SS. I have good base art, but I just can't clean them up sharply in my apps. These Jaguar gauges just need to have a white background with blue gauge printing and the red pie slice. . This goes on the 1/16 Mercedes steering hub you already did. I have a somewhat larger hub for my kit.
  5. It was a pearl white with a tinge of ice blue. See posts #3 and #10. Repainted red for the movie, as noted.
  6. The best-looking of the bunch to my eyes was the Maserati SM. Thoroughly unreliable according to the dealership where I got my Alfas serviced, but still a unique design.
  7. Now let's see the plank and beam roof construction from the inside.

  9. The curved roof line looks just right.
  10. I've been enjoying seeing your excellent work on cars that are seldom seen here, some of which I didn't know were available in kits.
  11. Fabulous dash, as usual. As for the chrome. I'm sure SpazStix will look just fine on most of it but I worry about the radiator. However, you've always made things look right, so I look forward to your results.
  12. You might post this in the following thread, which has been going on for a couple of years. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=79877&page=1
  13. Odd. I have all labels issued for this kit and haven't seen that problem at all.
  14. PS... You might look at the "Detailed painting question" recently opened in this section. I think the technique would be related to foiling body scripts and emblems, but without the additional foiling. Sort of what I suggested above.
  15. Probably the same technique as suggested in the kit reviews section for dealing with the Gullwing dashboard bezels, etc. -- paint the appropriate area body color (for hubcaps, I'd punch a hole for the entire painted area in masking tape), apply paint, then gently wipe away the paint from the raised star/ring. Might work best with acrylic or other suitable paint, with a really good magnifier. Personally, I'd rather use knockoff spinners than deal with that. Rumor has it that aftermarket Rudge wheels are on the way.
  16. Agreed. I'd also say that Revell needs to replace the horrid 1:12 Ferrari 275 GTB they reissued from the original. This could be done as the basic Berlinetta, as a NART spyder and a GTB4 racer with minor alterations. They could also adapt parts from their old GTO die cast, like the superb wire wheels But in a podcast interview in recent years, Ed Sexton said that Revell saw no potential in large-scale kits. 17. Breathtaking stuff.
  18. Looking great so far-- nice job on the space frame. Have you done any test fitting on mounting the doors? Bad fit is the downfall of virtually every other Gullwing kit.
  19. Your picture with pleated seats seems to be the most common. I couldn't find the picture I was looking for, and this 1926 version is the closest. Seems to have back bolsters.
  20. Any thoughts on rear seating? One example I saw was fold-down padded benches running along each side.
  21. You can pretend they're quail.
  22. I vote for the very American gangster whitewalls.
  23. Slam dunk on the guns.
