A few cool things.....I will be more happy when the model car side gets some new tooling. The Sci Fi guys have gotten a few.....and I do not count the snap Duke's kit as a new tool rather a replacement of a worn out one. MANY THANKS for the info Gerry!!!!! An ETA of when Revell will allow you to spill the beans??? From what I understand they will not be set up at Ohio NNL this year...

Is there an 'Ollie's' near by
Dave Van replied to GLMFAA1's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
IIRC the double Star Wars item was the Toy vehicles for the 3 3/4" figures. Ours also had a TON of the Strange Change Mummy and Vampire kits......not big sellers??? Maybe a 100+ 1/144 scale plane kits! -

I kinda wonder where all this stuff came form? It looks like a distributor rather than direct form the manufacture. With a mix of AMT, Revell, Monogram, Lindberg and Minicraft and the quantity to send this much to each store....seems like a bigger distributor. Slot cars for $15 is a decent deal. Still looking for any one who's store has Lionel Trains at their store as the ad stated. -

NICE START..... I like those RM snap trucks......I built this KWop last year..... -
I get it Bob......... Harry I see your side too.....but it's not how our system works. If any one feels strong enough there are methods to change things.....but that will consume the rest of your life.

A nice build....but best build ever of that kit!!!!! I have a few of those in my stash....always thought it would make a great replica build!!!!

WHY is MCM not in attendance??? I know the reason many companies don't.......COST! Back in the day when iHobby (and RCHTA) was a REAL must attend I went on trade days and most years it was so big it took two days to cover. Our retail arm carried plastic models, trains and die cast (and we manufactured some of these too) so it was a busy two days and 99% of the time I enjoyed it. My personal story on cost??? It was my 2nd day at the show....at Rosemont. I had 15 pounds of catalogs etc in my show bag. It was near the end of the day....I was BEAT! I stopped by a booth of a model railroad manufacture that we did a fair amount of business with. My salesman was busy,,,,,so I waited. I saw a big stack of chairs next tot he booth. I walked the two feet and started to pull the top chair off the pile to sit. I hear 'stop, stop, stop.....you can't do that!!!!' I stop....and this guys runs up to me and explains I needed a Union guy to move any furniture. He said it would be about $5......I passed. I made a comment to my sales guy when he got free......he said 'Don't ask me how much it cost me to get a electrical cord plugged into a socket!!" Don't start a bash of how I am anti-union......It is a EXAMPLE of the cost company's face when showing at a trade show. And now that social media is almost FREE....I can see why the trade show is in decline.

Look forward to your report Gerry.........I chose NNL Toledo this year. I understand Revell and Moebius will be there.....and LOTS of old friends!!
-
Who from the plastic model field will attend??? Revell hasn't for year or two.......not sure Moebius will....maybe R2?? Not what it was when it was RCHTA for sure.

GM is at it again!

Thanks for the heads up on Fit recalls....but 2009 Fit S types only have had the one VTEC recall. I am the original buyer and as such Honda stays in VERY good contact with me. And they have started the same communication with our new 2014 Civic coupe that is 3 weeks old. Quick and efficient communication has been one constant with all my Honda's going back to 1990 Civic....my first Honda. I would never try and convince anyone a company of any kind is perfect 100% of the time. Make a machine...it can break. (had more issues with my Mercedes Benz built Smart than any Honda) HOW they handle it and in a timely manner shows a different corporate culture. -

BRAVO!! That's the way my job was. Saying 'that's not my fault' got you fired. I saw it happen. When you cross 10 million recalls it becomes a REAL issue and not 'Piling on', Yes....my Honda Fit had a recall. BIG DIFFERENCE?? It was a performance issue. If the VTEC spring had broken the motor would be down on power. Honda issues recall. I take mine to one of the nation biggest Honda dealers. After recall complete I talk to mechanic. Had he found in broken spring in my motor??? NOPE....in fact in the 100+ recalls he had done not a single spring broke. BIG DIFFERENCE in that and death causing recalls. -

I don't have a dog in this fight. I bought a '14 Civic 3 weeks ago. The only Ford's I have are 60's vintage Mustangs and I have rebuilt them from the ground up....so recalls on them are my fault!!!! But if I HAD to buy a GM or Ford today....I'd go with the odds.......50 million recalls for GM as of AUG.........could not find a total for Ford.....but the few I found totaled less than 2 million+-........I don't gamble....so Ford it'd be. -
Li'l Yeller
Dave Van replied to hobbybobby's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Great work........I repro'd this kit before it was re-issued. I designed a laser cut body to fit the Gasser kit which the RC2 version had the chrome tree from Yeller!!! How about a little info on those tires....they really look great! -

Dave Van replied to Rob Hall's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
1/20 scale kits do not sell......(not counting Tamiya F1 kits which are in their own world) I'd not be surprised if it was canceled of deferred for a long while. Retooled into the Ironside kit....maybe it could sell....but that's a lot of $$$$ to return it.....unless all the tooling is in the mold blocked off. -
Did not know of the other magazines.....'different' titles for sure!

I am 100% sure that will happen. Very poor judgement that Ward was that 'impaired' in my mind it lets Tony off the hook.

Elio 3 wheeled car.
Dave Van replied to cobraman's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Then the millions of motorcycle riders are REALLY in trouble using that logic!! When I first got my Smart I went to our local Fall festival and parked it right on main st and sat on a nearby bench. Most folks coming by stopped and looked....wondered if it was electric or how many mpg it got. One guy came by and loudly announced, not knowing it was mine, 'Can you imagine what would happen if you pulled out in front of a coal truck?!?!?!?!" I stood up and just as loudly asked ' So you are the guy that always pulls out in front of my truck???' I don't drive a truck....but people laughed .....made them think...you have to DRIVE a smaller car and be aware 100% of the time. On Prius....not a fan...costly....but has assigned one on a long trip to Los Angles. I was VERY impressed at the entire car. Ride, comfort and power,,,,,good mpg too!!! Still not buy one....but seemeed like a decent car after 2 weeks. -

I read that Road & Track is reporting that a good number of new Vettes, including the cars GM gave them for testing, have blown motors due to defective oil filters. They blew their car up....and discovered they were not the only one. 67million is inexcusable in anyone's world. My job, before I retired, was a IT Senior System Analyst for a top 5 bank. I made sure every night that the computers end results were 100% correct. We were not allowed any errors. Errors caused you to lose your job. Let's look at it this way.......... The computer makes a $1 error to 50% of the accounts each night. No one should hold us responsible for $1 million a day lost due to 'things beyond our control', right??? It's just a dollar error......can't buy coffee for that!!!! Or 67 million iPhones are recalled today. People would riot in the streets. Storm the Apple store and burn it down. Demand the government investigate. Most would vow to switch to another brand. If each recall takes 30 minutes start to finish......how long will it take GM to repair the cars at 33.5 million man hours......makes my head spin. I have a feeling most of us here are held to a higher standard in our jobs than GM is being held to. -
Very nice work......I've wanted to build a Hudson LSR car since the sketchpad in that other mag a few years ago.

Whatever.........I just highlight whatever I have a question about, right click on it, select Google and my answer appears in a new tab in under one second. The original page is still there....I have my answer.......much quicker than I can type 'what is xyz...I've never heard of it' and then wait for someone to help me. Just a suggestion for self help. I don't think I KNOW EVERY topic that EVERY member here may or may not know about. The Elio is common knowledge in my circle of friends so I may have been 'RUDE' too if I had made a post about it. Remember when we called it the 'information highway'??? It still is.....
