That kit is in the 'Depth Charger' tooling....so I'll bet it's still around (as is Koo Koo Kar) but these kits are not huge sellers....so you can look for one or two a year. So maybe a year or two down the road.......I do like this one.....lucky to have it in the collection. -

I get it!!!!!! Maybe part of it is point of view....... I grew up in So Cal 1960-1970. Dad was Racing director at Valvoline Oil. We attended many automotive events in the region. I often went with Dad to help. Valvoline always ahd a booth set up at shows with a car.....a race car most times. But as we got in early and stayed after close I got to see behind the scenes. I was always drawn to the wild 'show rods' of the day. I even got to sit in a few......like Boot Hill Express. So these wild kinda unreal show rods appeal to me greatly. And for a number reasons......nostalgia one but also as a kit collector. It's not for all I agree....but that's why they make so many different kits each year. The coming 29 Ford from Revell does less for me than Lil Hot Dogger does. We have a number of 29 Ford kits. If you don't like a kit....pass it by. Being negative in a hobby that has shrunk so much it should be long gone offers no positive effect. R2, Revell and Moebius are doing GREAT things and trying their best to pump exciting things into the hobby....and grow it if we can. Overall....let's look at all the positive going on.......and more on the way. Be thankful for the variety. -
Very cool spin on both!!!! Thanks

I love the subject matter....but some of those kits are a BEAR to build...... Built the P917 and McLarens also the Alpine......tough!!!! -
IIRC there is a nice resin.......so that may be the best way to build one....
-
In the very final stages........but ETA is tough right now with all the port issues still going on. Soon......soon

Why was the AMT 1941 Plymouth kitted ?
Dave Van replied to Greg Myers's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I thought so.....but not 100% sure and at times I forget what is public knowledge and what isn't.....so I err on the safe side!! -

Dave Van replied to Greg Myers's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
RIGHT.......AMC was way ahead of the times. If they had gotten the money to build their mini van YEARS befor anyone else did we'd be talking about Ford, GM and AMC today. Owning 2 AMC's right now and more in the past as well as growing up in them......to know them is to love them!! -
Why was the AMT 1941 Plymouth kitted ?
Dave Van replied to Greg Myers's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
That's the story Bill told me.......but didn't know if it was 'public' so held back...... Here is mine inspired by the movie 'Cool Hand Luke' car wash car. Closest model to the movie car........works for me!!!!! -

Reissue of Warren Tope's '73 Trans-Am Mustang
Dave Van replied to '70 Grande's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
My spin on this kit........ The kit is a direct reissue of the last '72-73' legacy AMT Mustang kit. In my opinion it is a real mixed bag of parts. Lots of parts......some you need....many you do not. This tooling has been cut up and re-arranged so many times.......it's kinda a mess. It is not a BAD kit....just neither fish nor fowl. It's not a pure race car.....it's not a showroom kit. So R2 made the best of a bad situation......I bought one kit...only to support the effort. There are much better kits to build a Tope car from. The tires are cool....but again not 100% correct....just nice tires. Decals are a re-pop of the original. Again a updated improved set would have been nice. Earlier in this thread someone said this kit could make a nice short track car. I have used it to build a few. Simple builds for the shelf......far from a contest build. The Stick Elliott car that I saw run in the Charlotte area. Dale Earnhardt Sr also drove the car a few times. The Tope kit with it's soft molding and iffy grille area work well for these type cars!!! This build is from the legacy MPC version of the '72-73' Mustang that has a MUCH better race version. It's built up on the chassis with a GOOD roll cage and not random bars like the AMT kit I like this kit better in all areas. I also used the MPC to build a repro of the AMT Box art Tope car.....which was nothing like the real car!!!! A Tamiya rally driver was used for Warren and Penngwen decals used. I kinda wish R2 had used the MPC kit to make this 'new' Tope kit.....but I guess they wanted to make a repro of the original Tope kit. -
Dave, this is a clean build ! Revell does include Swivel-seats, other choices were bench seats. I love these cars, please Revell, release some other big 70's models !!! Thanks sir......I meant I didn't make them swivel.....I've seen guys to that!!!! I too would LOVE a 77 Thunderbird, Grand Prix and Cutlass........

Nice build.....I like the wheel covers! This is a great kit really. I have used it to build NASCAR cup race cars and stock versions. This is a build I did of a buddy's car he bought new. He saved all his cash to buy it. It had the swivel seats....but I didn't replicate them. Very simple basic build.

Don't forget the Moebius 1954 Hudson's in two body styles, 65 Plymouth all due early this year too.
