  1. I don't have access to my kits right this minute.....but...if AM address is Concord NC you have a 2nd gen kit for sure. If you have a Charlotte NC address you may have a 1st or 2nd gen kit. You can't tell much by looking at the box but parts differ 1st to 2nd gen.
  2. I know about many of the 'rule benders' in NASCAR....but somehow missed this Petty chassis thing......learn something all the time!
  3. WOW....bet NASCAR did not like that! I have never seen that pic.....Thanks!
  4. When were those sheet metal pans used on the chassis??? I can't believe NASCAR allowed them for more than 1 or 2 races?? I've never seen pictures of the 1/1 with them....are there any?? TIA
  5. N NO! There were no McLarens in the AM warehouse. When the first AM went under I dumpster dived 6 kits w/o boxes or decals....but for the price who could pass?? The new AM never even looked at the kit as there was some issue around licensing or the tool....never got a straight story.
  6. These kits that Revell is selling are re-boxed Accurate Minitures kits. These were in the warehouse when AM went under. MRC got the planes and Revell got the Vette. The molds....who knows. I had two family members that worked at the last AM in Concord NC and I packed a few kits there myself. These are 2nd gen kits with many of the fit issues corrected. A pretty decent kit IMHO.....I built a few for the original AM back in the day! Just a money issue. Neither AM or Revell want ot pay the fees to put names on tires.
  7. I NEVER said Californias FAULT......But having livied in So Cal for many years....and having many friends that lost their jobs or even lost their businesses because of laws passed in CA.....I just state the facts. My best friend had a business making repro car parts and restoring cars. He ended up having to close the biz because to comply with EVERY law CA passed was going to cost more money than he had made in 10 years. FACT is CA has laws that 49 other states do not feel the need to have....or even the Feds..... I love how people always jump to conclusions before fully reading a post. come on get real
  8. Paint hasn't really changed.....but lawyers and state CYA laws have changed. The precautions we take now should be the same as we always have. The California labeling law that caused the Tamiya shortage is a example of 'change' in the laws and not the paint or procedures.
  9. There may be a little mix up here........The showroom stock 1953 Hudson kit is 'open stock' and available now at any dealer that wants to order them. If you can't get one let me know and I can direct you. The 1952 Hudson race car of Tim Flock was a limited edition issued by Moebius with Model King. These were limited to 3000 and were sold out before they landed stateside. Same with the Chrysler 300 kit. The showroom stock kit, which is landing in stores this week, is open stock. The Tim Flock race car is a limited edition kit. It is best to pre-order it. Again if you want one and can't find one I can direct you to one..... There's lots of great stuff coming down the road. These guys are serious about the plastic model kit biz!!!!
  10. Saw some of these on the Sci Fi site I visit. Look good....would like the wlding girl in 1/24.....
  11. The pre-sell is going very strong and we may sell out again before the kits hit stateside. I know there are a number of dealers with kits available but don't wait long. This kit is as good or better than the Hudson......
  12. Dare to be different!!! I like it!
  13. We got photos today of production kits. As soon as we have a date I will post. Thanks and enjoy!
  14. There is also a toy on the market right now that would work. I used one for a hot rod quarry truck!!! It's a CAT 777 toy and it's around $17 so not too costly to cut up.....and it's assembled with phillips screws. I love movie vehicles so maybe some day.....
  15. HLJ or ebay.....used both....got good service and kits never found here.
  16. That Buffalo 6x6 is cool too....but I can't do 1/35.
  17. What make was the Revell oG airport crash truck.....a eruo brand???
  18. NICE WORK!!! Love them 70's era F1 models!!
  19. I have too many projects going myself....but there is a 1/29 scale GP-9 loco available that would be close enough being so big!!! It would make a cool model!!
  20. There are a lot of kits I'd like to see parts restored to. But I bet many are lost being replaced by other inserts. All the early Fords up through the 36 Ford had a bunch of cool stuff. The 30 Pheaton was a 8 in 1 kit at one time!! But for now I'll just make my own and not pay collector prices. Parts box build........
  21. Never saw the film....but I love movie cars!! thanks for posting!
  22. Clean, good stance. Only suggestion for next NASCAR build is flip the tires around so the raised letters are inside and use GY decals on the smooth side. Other than that SUPER!
  23. Looks good so far. It is correct that this car/kit should have coil springs and trailing arms. The type of trailing arms differed by chassis maker or car builder/driver. The long GM truck arms were legal by 76 but a number still used short arms like a Monte Carlo street car would have. But this kit is based off the 1971 MPC kit which was never really fully updated so leaf springs stayed in the kit even when real cars had moved on. But Model King paid $$$ to just get the kit usable the cost to fully correct it would have made it impossible. The CHEAP AMT 90's era stock car kits are the best source for more correct rear suspension. And it is correct leaf springs were still around on the Mopar cars. The leafs were adjustable at the shackles but not easy during a race! The seat is incorrect because MPC cloned the seat for the CannonBall Chevy kit to make it a two seater like in the movie and when RC2 removed one seat they picked the wrong one!!! Still very grateful Model King reissued these kits and allowed me to help out on them.
  24. Nice clean work!
