  1. Tamiya also has a retarder agent for lacquer paint. This might be useful if you were going to brush paint Tamiya's Liquid Surface Primer. The Testors square bottle paint is enamel, right? I'm not sure if the the same Lacquer Retarder could be used when brush painting enamel. Might be worth a try.
  2. If you might be brush painting with acrylic paint, I might suggest using some acrylic paint retarder, such as that by Tamiya. A couple of drops added to your paint will allow the paint to flow out better on the plastic surface, which helps to reduce brush stroke marks. I agree, it is getting too cold to be painting outside, especially with a spray can. LOL
  3. I completed a great Kijiji deal today. Not everyone is a Tom Daniel fan, but I'm very happy to find these. Some of the boxes are a little rough, but I knew that from the pictures that the seller posted. All are complete and most are sealed inside. That is about as good as it gets, given the age and rarity of most of them.
  4. The best way to find an answer to your question would be to contact Moebius. Anything expressed here would more than likely be speculation. customerservice@moebiusmodels.com
  5. Your own reply clarifies the meaning of your thread. "Kit Preferences" could refer to manufacturer, scale, a time period, or even a genre within the broad category of cars/trucks. My preference tends to lie with Japanese kit manufacturers such as Tamiya, Fujimi, Hasegawa, Aoshima, NuNu and others. Oh, and an occasional, kit by Revell, Moebius or Atlantis for good measure. I'm just curious. There are, no doubt, many cities/towns named Hamilton in North America alone. Which Hamilton do you reside in?
  6. I didn't find anything at the link, except a stylized white D, in a black square, centered on an all grey background.
  7. It has been only two days since my purchases at the Toronto Model Car Show and Contest, and Kijiji has bitten. I never thought I would see the day when I would say that $25 was a good price for a sealed kit, but here we are. I bought the Monogram Olds Aerotech and the Porsche 904 kits for that price.
  8. I would glue down Evergreen Half Round strips, either 243 (0.1 in, 2.5 mm) or 244 (0.125 in, 3.2 mm) on an angle. The ends, where they meet the flat portion of the panel could be filed, before gluing on, to achieve the desired taper.
  9. Yesterday was the 2022 Toronto Model Car Show and Contest, put on by Group 25. It was a great opportunity to meet up with modelling friends that I haven't seen in person for a while. I purchased a few kits and was happy to win a raffle prize as well. I really like the Revell '41 Willys kit, which was sealed. The Tamiya Alfa Romeo, still sealed, might be an original issue as it does not have Cartograf decals. The Hasegawa Jaguar XJR-8 LM does include the Silk Cut sponsor decals. Rotary tool bits are always useful.
  10. Thanks Sam. I just forwarded the link to my good friend Peter. He goes by the forum name "peter31a" for a very good reason.
  11. New to me LHS in Toronto. Argama Hobbies. They cater to Gundam/anime, but have a good selection of cars from Japanese kit makers.
  12. I am also in Canada. I purchased magnetos from MAD. I bought a few to defray the shipping cost, which was only $15 US, or about $20 CDN at the time.
  13. Yes, Ken Tyrrell's F-1, 6-wheeled wonder from 1976/77.
  14. You're welcome Scott.
  15. You're right Mike. I have both the 917/10 kit and the Tyrrell P34 kits. Both of these kits have far more and accurate detail.
  16. Here's a YouTube video of a build up by BG's Model Workshop
  17. Here's a Youtube video of the kit, its Airfix release history and contents. Contents start at about 3:30. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NVP__dIq_o4&ab_channel=ModelScaleKits
  18. Jo, I know right! I just fixed that. Especially since my good friend peter31a has a 1931 Model A!
  19. Thanks Scott, The blue car pictured is a McLaren. As to the model, I think it is a P1, but I'm not positive.
  20. BC in general and Vancouver specifically are so beautiful. I would happily move there if only I could afford it.
  21. Here are a few of the cars that I spotted while visiting Vancouver BC, August 12 - 19.
  22. Purchases made from August 12 through 19, while in the Vancouver / Richmond area of BC. A shout out to gman (Greg Peters) who gave me LHS recommendations. On Sunday I decided to set out from Richmond and make the rounds to all three shops. Arrived at Burnaby Hobbies only to discover that it was closed on Sunday and Monday. The same was true of MagicBox Hobbies. So I ended back at Imperial Hobbies. This is a huge hobby shop with a good selection of everything (comics, figures, Gundam and all categories of kits). I was a little disappointed in that the JDM car kit selection was pretty sparse at the time of my visit. I did pick up the two recently issued Porsche kits. This was the first time I had seen them in NA boxes. Later in the week, I made it to MagicBox Hobbies. What an amazing hobby shop. They carried RC as well as kits. The JDM section was vastly better than that of Imperial. What really grabbed my attention was the tools / supplies section. I did not go wild, but only grabbed the NuNu MP4/2C.
  23. Returned from Vancouver on August 19. gman, I sincerely appreciated your recommendations. I made it to Imperial Hobbies and MagicBox Hobbies. To quote Meatloaf... Two Out of Three Ain't Bad. Ken LOL! Recap in What Did You Get Today.
  24. While visiting Vancouver, I spotted a 1915 Model T parked on a street in the Steveston area of Richmond, BC.
