  1. Dave, it looks like you made some vendors very happy! 😄
  2. I'll measure the distance from the blade axis to the surface it sits on. Looks like there is plenty of room for increasing the area of the blades! LOL Guess I better get an additional kit!
  3. I got this kit yesterday from Amazon.com. I'm not positive, but I think it is a knock-off an original Gakken kit. The title on the box says Wind Power Beast. The manufacturer is Cute Sunlight, kit no. 2141. I'm not sure of the scale, but I'm guessing 1/100. The miniature is based on a original piece created by kinetic artist Theo Jansen. His was called the Strand Beest. He has made many iterations of his first creation. It was fun, although sometimes frustrating. The English was error free. However, they sometimes used the wrong terminology when describing the position of one piece in relation to another. Having done LEGO was definitely a help, as the illustrations were very precise. If you have an inner geek, I highly recommend it. And yes, it walks sideways when you blow on the fan blades.
  4. The woman portrayed, has more than a striking resemblance to the late Dame Diana Rigg, from the 60's TV show, The Avengers. I'm not sure about the male driver in the illustration. Sorry, I just refreshed and realized that I am way to late to the party!
  5. My good friend, Ken Nesbitt, shared these over a club Zoom meeting. They just arrived today from The Hobby Centre, in Ottawa. I have been buying a lot of paints in the 10 ml jars recently. The paint caddies, on the left, hold 32 bottles each. They are on a swivel base. This will help reduce the foot print that paints occupy. The item on the right holds three Tamiya masking tape dispensers clamped side by side, and has a mechanism built in to attach to a desk surface. The Fujimi Porsche 911GT3R is a kit that I should have purchased when it first came out. Most places online either say out of stock, or prices north of $100 C.This was very reasonably priced. Maybe Flying Lizards livery....
  6. I was trying to catch the maker of the Lola kit. I believe it was a Scale Productions kit. Although he only used the upper portion, he did an amazingly realistic job. I learned something about slot cars as well. I never realized that the front wheels/tires were mostly just for show. Thinking about it after watching the video, that makes perfect sense. LOL
  7. I found this to be an entertaining video. The language used was a combination of model building specific and layman's terms.
  8. Luke I'm envious of your haul. You have a wheel set addiction like I do! I tried a large, multi kit order from HLJ and the only shipping choices were FedEx or DHL. Both I believe were in the $50 range. On top of that, those shipping services are required to collect Canada's HSTax, and of course duty/tariffs. Altogether a very big ouch on top of the kit prices. Now I ship 2 to 3 kits at a time using Small Packet ($27) and it sneaks through in regular post. That makes for a big cost savings!
  9. "...multi version." That is great news. I'm wondering if one of those versions might be the Californian. Or would that be going into copyright territory?
  10. Bernard, thank you very much for your post. I appreciate the history provided and the pictures. This will probably convince me to get two kits. One as straight from the box build, and one with some additions to make it resemble the Californian. I really appreciate what Atlantis is doing both with this kit and the Mooneyes kit.
  11. To add to my previous post, they are $30. ...probably double the "cost" but make the" value of the build "priceless"! Altered to my thoughts by stealing from an old MasterCard theme. LOL
  12. I'm not sure if these are the ones you were thinking of. "curt raitz", on this forum has sets that he makes under the name miniscurtraitzing, TruWire, in four different sizes. As others have said, they are fantastic. There is a thread here from December, 2020 with a topic heading "dragster wire wheels". I wish I knew how to link a whole topic thread here! LOL
  13. Thanks Mike. Very interesting. Light weight Honda with a heavy weight Nissan!
  14. Mike I'm curious. The box says "Transkit". Is a donor kit required, and if so, which one?
  15. In the time that I found a diagram for the parts breakdown of the HP-C+, you solved the problem! LOL You did exactly what I would have suggested. Since the airvalve body is removable from the airbrush body, it makes it easier to totally disassemble, soak/clean the parts and reassemble with a little SuperLube applied.
  16. I sure hope you can Lee. From what I've seen, it builds up into a really impressive model.
  17. $50 was a great price for sure. It is also nice to see sprues still in their original wrap. In the past, I have looked for 1/12 scale tires for Tamiya kits, and found that they are very hard to come by. Do you have any sources in mind?
  18. I hope this post is appropriate to the topic thread. I purchased a SharpenAir tool for repairing/re-sharpening bent or damaged airbrush needles. The Youtuber, Barbatos Rex, recently posted a video on the use of this product. In conjunction with the SharpenAir, he also used a polishing product called Flitz. I recently repaired a Harder & Steenbeck 0.2 mm needle. After buying a used airbrush, I could see the hook bent into the end of the needle. Based on Barbatos Rex' recommendation, I purchased some Flitz, so that now I can give the needle a final finishing polish. Here's a link to the video: Edit: The Flitz I purchased has a black cap, the same as in the video. I'm not sure if the colour of the cap (black plastic vs. white plastic) has any bearing on the nature of the product.
  19. Well, thanks Curtis for the original post and thank you James for pointing me the right direction. Building my pre-window mask Tamiya kits just got a whole lot easier.
  20. Curtis, I'm thinking that those window masks could be a real time saver. Can I ask, where did you order them?
