Both turned out very well. Judging by where you live I imagine you have seen real WRC cars in action. I would love to see the special stage through the tunnels.

I really like this. Excellent build.
-
Jolly good! Have one in my stash that I hope to build someday.
-
Still looking sharp after all these years
-
Dan would have got a kick out of this. Very good looking model.
-
Thanks everyone. Hopefully by this time next year I will have completed a model of the Silver Sapphire
-
I actually built it with the Hemi a few years ago and converted to flathead last month.

You mean hot rodders have been known to brag and exaggerate ??!! I'm not sure I can believe that. LOL -

WOW You are well on your way to building an impressive model. If you do not find out here what you need to know I am sure it is only a google away. -
Good luck with replicating the mirror. It is definitely hard to find one on another kit that looks right. One of the nicest I have seen is on the Italeri and Tamiya Mercedes 300SL kits but you might not want to rob them from those kits but you could possibly take a resin cast.

Let's build a " Little Duece Coupe"
Phildaupho replied to Greg Myers's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Here is my take on a Little Deuce Coupe build inspired by the song with a very potent flathead engine, four speed and lakes pipes. I bet something like stripped down and lightened could have run 140mph or at least kph at Bonneville. -
-
Note - Some of this story was made up for April Fools Days - This is a model of the real Little Deuce Coupe that inspired the Beach Boys’ song of the same name. Although it was meant to be on the record album cover it obviously was not and it eventually disappeared. The record company guys thought it looked too plan [as in - You don’t know what I got] so it was sent to Barris Kustoms for enhancement. As it turned out it was not finished in time when record advanced the release date so [ this next part is true] Hot Rod magazine was asked to provide some photos. The picture of the Chili Catallo Silver Sapphire was cropped from a 1961 photo session by Eric Rickman. Another interesting fact is that the red jacket to add color to the photo and worn by Chili whose head was cropped off in the photo belonged to Big Daddy Ed Roth!! [ This is fiction ] Because the real Little Deuce Coupe missed its moment of fame, to make it a full on show car the flathead was replaced with an eight carb Hemi. Shortly afterwards the car was crashed and completely destroyed by fire so totally disappeared. The car was originally built for Bonneville where it ran 140 mph on alcohol. Picture if you will how this car looked at Bonneville. It was chopped and channelled over a Z’d frame. It was very light having a louvered roof panel and trunk and a stripped interior with aircraft seats. It ran with magnesium wheels, no headlights and a fairing over the front frame horns. TRUE - Notice how the car has all the features mentioned in the song such as the flathead, 4-speed and lakes pipes. It also has a full hood, which hid the potential of the engine.

A totally fantastic project resulting in an incredibly cool looking model. Would have been a great April Fools post !!??

All 15 Varieties of 1932 Ford - Sedan Delivery - June 30
Phildaupho replied to Phildaupho's topic in WIP: Model Cars
I mocked up this Cabriolet from a 5-Window using windshield frame and widened folded top cover from AMT 29 Ford Roadster. Relocated door handle holes and will add additional door hinges. Both this and the panel will be completed by other local modellers for the all varieties of Deuce display. All varieties are now either already built or under construction. -
I have always been awestruck when I have seen F&F cars in museums. This is a very ambitious project but look to be well on your way.

I removed about 8 scale inches in length behind the rear fenders and I like the resulting proportions much better. I also filled in the recessed side panels in preparation for the change in trim. -

The resin 1932 Ford Panel Truck is no longer available new so I decided to try to fabricate one myself. Most of the body comes from the Revell ’37 Ford Panel with the lower forward part of the body from a Revell ’32 5-Window and the cab section from a Lindberg ’34 Ford Pickup. I was surprised how much rear overhang there is but it proportions closely to the 1/1 Panel. The rear panel lines of the side doors will have to be filled and scribed and after a lot of puttying there will be numerous trim alterations. -
T.R.O.G. style '30 roadster-updated 4/9 NSRA pick!!!
Phildaupho replied to Rocking Rodney Rat's topic in Model Cars
A really fantastic build. It looks like it got caught in the sand when the tide came in!! -
Cool but I am curious about the body. The rounded back corners are definitely not from a 29 and the grill makes me think it is a 34 Cab pickup with the top cut off ??
-
Nice humpback!! Did you do the conversion?

I did not ask Norm about the 32 Pickup so not sure about that one but below is what he said about Deuce bodies he currently offers and I did see the Cabriolet and Sports Coupe in what I think was my most recent R&M price list. As far as I know the panel delivery is no longer being cast by the original producer. Apparently there is a 32 Ford 1/25 diecast piggy bank panel delivery out there. Otherwise one could be fabricated with a lot of slicing and dicing of a 37 panel. Norm Veber says - There are 4 of the '32 bodies currently available. All are ment to work with the newer Revell kits. B-19 '32 Sedan Delivery B-24 '32 Vicky RH-4 '32 3-window chopped body (discontinuing this one, due to sales falling off!) & molds are worn out. RH-5 & 5A '32 Roadster Body with Duvall Windshield (RH-5) & with the Doane Spencer Hardtop (RH-5A). B-36 and B-37 were discontinued years ago, when Revell came out with their 5-window coupe kit.
