There is probably unchopped diesel powered '49 Mercury somewhere in Cuba.

Truly amazing. Is this the future of model building? Will we download a model program to our 3D printer to produce all the parts to build a scale model?

Looking forward to seeing your 612 Underglass.

Thanks Ismael and Bob for posting your 612's. Both really enhance the original design and still look fresh after all these years.

Ismael - I would love to see your 612. Please post here and that goes for anyone else who has built a custom 612. I will change the topic title to Ferrari 612 Customs - more than one. This is the other 612 Custom I did. By the way I would like to thank you for the Scale Corvettes website you did a number of years ago. It was the first place I ever posted a photo of a model car I had built.

Love the livery. Sort of reminds of the DX livery which has always been a favourite of mine. Very nicely built Corvette race car.

At the pre-Christmas car modellers brunch we had a model car kit gift exchange draw with the idea that these models would be built for the first get together of the year in January. I ended up with a Revell Ferrari 612 Scaglietti. Since the kit gift exchange was more or less my idea, I figured I had to have mine built for the January meeting. I had previously built another custom version of this car so was quite familiar with the kit. Because time was of the essence I decided to build a curbside model with the hood glued closed however I was not interested in building it stock. I was inspired by a 1/1-tuner version built a number of years ago by Imola Racing of which I found images on-line. SOME BACKGROUND INFO - I have only seen one 1/1 612 and that was at the Monterey Historics shortly after it had been released. I was impressed by its large size but disappointed by some aspects of its styling. With my first 612 model I attempted to improve some of those styling deficiencies. These days the 612 maybe the most affordable of the recent V-12 Ferraris with the average asking price between $100 and & 120,000 US$ and has the bonus of being a four seater. For example black low mileage 612 sold for $115 at the recent Barrett-Jackson auction. MODIFICATIONS Added rear spoiler and diffuser elements Cut in vents behind the front and ahead of the rear wheelwells Enlarged vents beside the grill and filled those and the central grill with mesh Molded front side splitters to valence Lowered suspension Wheels are Aoshima Enkei NT03+M 19inch with pose able fronts Did not install side windows to give a full hardtop look Aluminum tube exhaust tips Interior Tamiya Bright Red dull coated Exterior is two-tone to emphasis the unique styling cues on the 612 using Testor’s Model Master Custom lacquer System – AMC Sterling Silver Metallic 3D, Plymouth Bright Platinum Metallic PS and Ultra Gloss Clearcoat

A couple more I forgot in the previous post

Fantastic collection of unusual subjects.

I sure like the B400. Who makes the body? The Orange Crate body works really well over the Rat Roaster rolling chassis.
-
Beautifully built Imperial and I love the photos.

I missed this thread the first time around and being the promoter for Deuce Days in Scale which will hopefully take place again in Victoria BC Canada in July 2019 I am posting my Deuce builds in somewhat chronological order

Beautiful trio. Look forward to your 1, 4, 6 &7 built with same color and wheels!!
-
That is one incredible looking model car.
-
You scored a pole position and victory with this one!!
-
Great design with the convertible. I bet a 1/1 would have been a big seller.

Thanks Tom - It is a Lola T-70 using a Tamiya slot car body, Fujimi GT40 chassis

Really looking forward to seeing this model Under Glass

The pink thing is actually a red thing [poor photo colour reproduction]. It is the Delta Wing in its preproduction configuration which was done at Dan Gurney's All American Racers factory. The production race car which ran at Le Mans and later in the American Le Mans Series in various configurations was built at the Panoz factory.

Fantastic model. I have always been a Falcon guy, A few years ago I owned a very nice 65 V-8 4-speed hardtop which I regret selling. I thought it was great that Ford of Australia keep the Falcon nameplate alive for so long with production ending October 2016.

Dan Gurney, one of the greatest racing car drivers and constructors of all times passed away January 14 at 86 years of age. There are other tributes on this forum under General but I thought it would be fitting for people to post their Dan Gurney models here Under Glass. I have been chipping away for a number of years on a list of models inspired by Dan Gurney. I have posted them sort of in chronological order from his first sanctioned racing drive in a hot rod at Bonneville to a my tribute Deuce 5W Coupe. Please post your own. Here's to Dan Gurney. RIP
