32 ford twins conversions, not identical, DONE
Phildaupho replied to damodelguy az's topic in Model Cars
I am glad you posted Under Glass and I got a chance to see these two very impressive Deuces before they may get moved as I hardly ever look at the Big Boyz or truck threads. I am even more impressed with the builds after looking at your under construction posts. I am currently working on both closed and open cab '32 Ford pickups in 1/25 scale so these are inspirational. -
Love your '40 Ford Sportsman - it's a beauty and the open vent is definitely a nice touch

Front and back views. Digital photos are certainly reviling!! I am going to have to redo the tailgate curtain.

Always good to see a nicely built Deuce and yours illustrates that a great looking hot rod model can be built directly out of the box. I sure hope this kit and all the other Deuce versions will be available for years to come.

Thanks everyone and I hope I did not miss anyone. I am really enjoying this all 15 varieties of 32 Fords project and most of my local car modeller buddies are involved either building other versions or volunteering previous builds for the display.

As requested

Thanks Patrick - As mentioned the body is from the Revell 1/24 30 Ford Woody Street Rod kit

All 15 Varieties of 1932 Ford - Sedan Delivery - June 30
Phildaupho replied to Phildaupho's topic in WIP: Model Cars
The body is from the soon to be re-released MPC Coke version. I cut out the fender liners on the body to see how it fits on Revell 32 Ford fenders. Some trimming will be required where body meets the fuel tank to get it to sit down on the fenders. The proportions look good to me but the rear door should have rounded corners at the top. -
I built this Deuce Woody to be part of an All Varieties of ’32 Fords at Deuce Days in Scale 2019. Officially known as the Station Wagon, there were 1406 produced in 1932. Birch plywood & maple framing first growth came from Ford’s Iron Mountain Reserve. The Mengel Body Company of Louisville Kentucky constructed sub-assemblies. Final assembly done by Baker-Raulang of Cleveland Ohio. The fuel tank was located under front passenger seat. Bodies were only available in shades of medium brown and all ’32 Fords had black fenders. The model combines the “wood” body from the Rev/Mon 1/24 ’30 Model A Woody with the “steel” parts from the Rev/Mon 1/24 Deuce Roadster. The panels on the “wood” body were cut out and backed with real birch plywood from Revell. The framework was first painted light yellow and then dry brushed light brown. All the “wood” was then coated with Tamiya acrylic yellow clear. Inside there are only two rows of seats where as stock station wagons came with three rows. The front seat was fabricated from the roadster seat. The Deuce dash comes from a Revell 1/25 kit. The Roadster also provided the wire-wheels and engine. Engine parts came from a 1/24 ’57 Corvette. I had to use the ‘30 Model A Woody rear fenders to match body radius. The suspension was lowered front and rear. Other than the windshield the only window coverings were side curtains constructed from fabric and celluloid with those for the side doors sliding in channels up to the inner roof. The model side curtains are simulated with adhesive tape and very thin clear styrene.

Fantastic looking C7R. Exceptional decal application. Appears SMS really knows how to produce great decals.

Enjoyed looking at your collection of models. Keep at it and looking forward to more.

At a swap meet today I bought an MPC Keep on Truckin' 32 Delivery Van kit which I think is from sometime in 1970's. Good to see the upcoming re-release will be properly identified as a Sedan Delivery. The body in this old kit is molded in white while everything else is black. The proportions of the body look pretty good to me but the shape of the top of the rear door is not correct as it should have rounded edges according to photos I have seen. I cut out the fender liner to try the body with the Revell 32 Ford frame, fenders, hood and grill. It will need some work where the body meets the gas tank but it is definitely doable.

Very excellent Woody build. I like the stock look with the enhanced 4-banger. It looks like the doors were engineered to open but can imagine they are not easily done.

Another nice "barn-find". Like the fresh "steel or aluminium" trunk.
-
You really captured the barn find look rolling on fresher wheels and rubber.

Your A in full scale would be at very welcome at a Race of Gentlemen event which in terms of the style of cars is sort of the reincarnation of the early dry lakes days.

That has got to be one of the most gorgeous shades of blue I have ever seen.

Incredibly creative and executed. Definitely a piece of art.

A very fitting and impressive model car tribute to the legendary The Mongoose -

Previous to seeing your model which I like very much I was not familiar with the 961 so did a little research. Interesting bit of Porsche history.
-
Amazing weathering on a couple of models you certainly do not see very often. Cannot get over how realistic the tool box looks.
-
Nicely done . Will always be one of my favorite racecars.

I am going to add my congratulations with everyone else on a great looking A-Coupe Hot Rod. I like it very much.
