  1. Fred - Your beautifully completed hot rod should make an appearance Under Glass
  2. Nicely done lowering of a difficult to chop top. Going to be a very authentic period looking custom.
  3. You Have done an admirable job of capturing the features of a hot rod that is certainly on my list of the top 10 hot rods of all time [which makes me wonder what would be on the definitive list of the 10 hot rods of all time !!??]
  4. Thanks Bill Thanks Ray Thanks Brad Thanks Dennis Some addition info and photos I failed to put in my original post. The model is based on the Revell “32 Ford Hi-Boy kit. I managed to fabricate the torsion bar front suspension but did not attempt to replicate the underneath of the car or the very complex rear torsion bar arrangement, as it will not be seen when the model is displayed. I had to come up with a transmission mount so I added some cross-frame tubing but not exactly like the actual car. The small block Ford is from the kit with a Viper transmission added. The fuel injection system will be modified from the Revell ’29 Ford Roadster kit. The wheels are two sets of fronts from the Revell ’30 Ford Coupe kit as are the tires and radius rods. The body was channelled while the grill shell was sectioned and channelled. The rear fender openings were filled.
  5. Hey Dennis - Are those two sets of front wheels like I used on my Lo-Boy? I plan to dull coat the centers.
  6. I am well on way to completing the necessary modifications to build a replica of Tom Goly’s Brizio built Lo-Boy 32 Roadster. This is a model of one of the two Deuce roadsters that appears on the front of the event t-shirt for Northwest Deuce Days t-shirt which takes place in Victoria BC July 19-21, 2019. The model will be on display at the accompanying model car show – Deuce Days in Scale. Tom Gloy a former very successful open-wheel racing driver, wanted his Deuce to be very fast and handle very well. To accomplish this the car was channelled over the frame with a Moal torsion bar suspension and a fuel injected Ford small block with a 5-speed transmission. There is a great gallery of photos on the Brizio website that document the construction of the actual car. https://www.roybriziostreetrods.com/progress/gloy_2/index.htm
  7. This is a great project which is coming along very nicely and also well documented.
  8. I always enjoy seeing models of classics posted. This is certainly a nice one.
  9. Yes I do Like it. A very interesting conversion.
  10. You definitely have a knack for building a proper looking hot rod. Looking forward to seeing this one Under Glass.
  11. Awesome 1/43
  12. Nice model - Great photography!!
  13. Love the extra photos. This is one nice 40 Coupe.
  14. I like your model very much. Have always been attracted to these early Model A cab pickups. Saw a real one for sale at a car show and the owner to his credit said I would never be comfortable in the small cab but that is not going me keep from building a model of one sometime in the future.
  15. Enjoyed all three of your recent hot rod posts but I think this is my favorite
  16. Great details really are evident with your very crisp photography
  17. OH YES - I have always admired John D'Agostino customs. This is great to see in scale. Well done.
  18. Thanks Bernard - Road racing is my favorite form of motorsports and I saw Tom Gloy race a few times back in his Formula Atlantic days so I took notice when he got into vintage customs and hot rods. His Lo-boy was definitely influenced by the Jim Khougaz roadster which was chosen as one of the 75 Most Significant 32 Ford Hot Rods back in 2007. I am very intrigued with the Moal torsion bar suspension used on the Gloy car and think I can come close to replicating it on the front where it is very obvious. In back it is more complicated and largely hidden.
  19. Great to see one of these built up. Hard to beat Candy Red. Really good looking wheels.
  20. Thanks Chris Thanks Dan Thanks Bob Thanks Chris I have started work on the Brizio built - Tom Gloy Lo-Boy on the t-shirt. It is going to be challenging yet interesting project but I have a plan and the required parts.
  21. Thanks Ray for posting the Rip Cords song which I do not recall from back in the day and the video was very cool. I was just looking at Scale Auto Enthusiast December 1996 which was a special '32 Ford issue that featured Tim's yellow 3-W on the cover.
  22. You captured the east coast style very well. I like your Deuce a lot.
  23. Thanks Sam - I see by your avitar that you are a Highboy Roadster man !!
  24. Thanks Bill - I always enjoy your insightful and knowledgeable comments. Here is a photo of the real engine. Maybe you can identify its source.
