Thanks guys - I have started a new post On the Workbench on the continuation of this project

Great looking model which may inspire my first Pro-Touring build.

This is a model that has been in the works for a very long time but will be completed it in the near future for Deuce Days in Scale this July and as a tribute to the 25th anniversary of the Rodder’s Journal. This deuce model was inspired by the first Rodder’s Journal poster. The actual car was built by Dave Simard’s East Coast Customs for Mike O’Neill. It was first featured in bare metal in the very first issue of the Rodder’s Journal 25 and then as completed in issue #8. Even though this Deuce was built over a quarter of a century ago, it still looks fresh. I bought the Revell 3-Window Coupe kit as soon as it was released [can you believe it – over 20 years ago] in 1996. The box art car even looked a lot like the O’Neill Deuce albeit not chopped and having bumpers. I immediately chopped the top, started making a few other modifications and collecting necessary parts for the build. The body languished in the box until it was used to build a replica of one of the Deuce Days 2016 t-shirt Deuces. I chopped another three window awhile back but chopped it a bit too much, so I used that body to build a curbside/slammer version of the bare steel car which I posted Under Glass http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/topic/130885-the-rodders-journal-first-deuce-coupe/ This is what I have accomplished so far BODY Revell first issue 3-window coupe The roof was chopped about a scale 2-1/2 inches Door hinges removed to be replaced with the accurate ones from Replicas & Miniatures I decided to open the passenger side door to show the interior like it was photographed in the magazine Louvers opened up on stock hood sides Replicas & Miniatures grill shell which has a double sided radiator INTERIOR Seat modified from Revell 5-window coupe. Door panels re-scribed with rolls & pleats CHASSIS Floor and fuel tank cut out of kit frame so I can photograph the rolling chassis like it was shown in the magazine Cross tubing added FRONT SUSPENSION Kit tube front axle converted to beam axle with sections from R/M 1/24 Deuce Roadster FRONT WHEELS & TIRES Kit Torque-Thrusts wheels Parts box Michelin tires BACK WHEELS & TIRES Kit Torque-Thrusts wheels – diameter slightly increased Parts box BF Goodrich T/A Radials narrowed I am looking forward to the weather warming up so I can get into painting.

What a blast. There are very few vehicles in which V-8 cannot be stuffed.

Very effective and interesting diorama. It is amazing how complex the current F1 cars have become as they a testing this week at Circuit Catalunya. The wings and side pods of the Zakspeed are so unadorned in comparison.

Dan Gurney Ford
Phildaupho replied to TonyK's topic in WIP: Stock Cars (NASCAR, Super Stock, Late Model, etc.)
Very nice build. I always like to see Dan Gurney racecars and this is one of my favorites. I believe he won the Riverside 500 in a similar car. -
Looking beautiful already and will be even more so when completed. I never warmed up to the original livery. This one enhances the cars very unique shape.

WOW. Incredible build. At first I thought it might be large scale with the high level of detail and fidelity. Build on.

Very well done. Reminds of a Volvo a friend had brand new

I like this very much.It reminds of a t-shirt I bought in Bali many years ago. I have the Gunze 1/24 version but it is so small.

Very attractive T-Bird

Yes I agree. I had not looked at The Grand Sport book for a very long time. What I was really meaning is that it did not have the side louvers like the hood in the kit representing other versions of the GS. I have a resin hood from Historic Racing Miniatures called a Nassau Hood which is definitely like the Mecom car.

Very sharp traditional hot rod. I agree that both the fendered and non-fendered versions of this kit can produce great looking and distinctive curbside models with a nice paint job and some different wheels.
-
WOW. Great looking model. I especially like the livery and how you can see the spare tire through the louvers. I have long been fascinated by the Carrera both the original and the later rally version.

This Chaparral white version of the Grand Sport has always been my favorite and the one I would build if I ever get around to. Your model certainly looks very nice in the photos. I was never sure if the hood on this version was solid or tapped so thanks for clearing that up. I do believe it may of had a scoop rather than the vents.

Lots of fun. Cool car with a lot of cool dudes and babes in the background.
-
Classic Deuce Coupe with a 60's vibe. The antenna is a nice touch and purple & lavender were certainly the quintessential custom colors in the early sixties.

I had a Switcher 32 Sedan and I am aware of an issue that came with both Sedan and Phaeton bodies

57 Ford Faux Sedan Delivery Gasser
Phildaupho replied to Phildaupho's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
Thanks guys and I agree the 57 Ford kits are very well engineered. I was impressed and sure hope a Ranchero will eventually be issued. I contemplated doing a conversion but realized the back window would be difficult to properly replicate. -
All American had a number of beautiful models of classics. You certainly did this one justice.
-
Fantastic build of a very cool car.

I guess being strictly a drag car there is no need for headlights !!?? I used the headlight covers from the AMT '49 Ford
