  1. Turned out very well. I like it a lot.
  2. Thanks James - I am looking forward to getting color on the body. Although I know the actual car was painted a fifties Porsche shade it looks different in every photo. May have to get color mixed at an automotive paint shop.
  3. Since last updates I have - Test fitted engine - Dull coated center of wheels - Assembled radiator with surge pipe - Got front suspension and steering system figured out - Foiled front wheel inner fairings - Added spacers to rear wheels to give more track - Installed mounting surfaces for taillights and license plate - Installed rear roll pan - Fabricated exhaust system
  4. Beautiful model of a beautiful car. Glad I have one in my stash.
  5. Front end looks so much better. What a great idea.
  6. This is how the MPC body with trimmed rear fender openings fits on the Revell fenders and frame. Some trimming below rear door will be required to get the body to mate the rear fenders properly. To be more accurate the rear door needs rounded top corners and a cowl vent needs to be added.
  7. I have to concur with others that the FI Olds really looks great and an overall nice model
  8. Good luck - I always enjoy reading how much thought you put into your projects. I have always loved the 49 Ford. My uncle bought one new the year of my birth. I bought the kit the year it came out at the 1962 Seattle Worlds Fair.
  9. Beautiful model. I bet you could go into business selling these !!
  10. I have lately been working mainly on two aspects of the build - the interior and engine INTERIOR – Replicating the interior was a challenge. I first did a lot of filling and sanding. Then added putty and bits of styrene. The grommets are drilled through. I applied Molotow chrome with a pin from the backside and I blanked off the holes with Bare-Metal foil. I am pleased with the results which good to the naked eye in spite of the blemishes the digital photo show. I think it should look even better once in the painted car with steering wheel, dash, shifter etc. ENGINE – The basic engine is the Revell Deuce small block Ford. The transmission is from a Viper. The Hilborn fuel injection combines Velocity stacks from the 29 Ford Roadster Buick and a manifold from the AMT Double Dragster modified for Ford porting. The magneto was fabricated.
  11. Looks like it is time to bring my Deuce portfolio up to date
  12. I cannot seem to find out any real news about what is happening regarding Revell North America products. I see that the Greased Lightning 48 Ford has been released and photos of the 69 Mustang Boss 302 are on some vendor's websites for pre-order but I am surprised there is not more chatter on this forum unless I am not looking in the right place or are people being amazingly patient and just taking a wait and see attitude?
  13. Very well executed.
  14. Very well built indeed!!
  15. Another great looking Deuce
  16. A fantastic example of what a beautiful model can be built from those great Revell Deuce kits that I hope will be reissued eventually
  17. As always an excellent post of an excellent model. I really hope you can make it to Victoria next July for Deuce Days and Deuce Days Scale. Your Deuce models - this one in particular - would bound to be a highlight.
  18. Thanks Craig - I have been working on the engine and interior this week and hope to have an update soon. Also fixing some items that I only noticed in the digital photos. I have really been enjoying this project. It is such an interesting hot rod being so sports car like.
  19. Super nice in all repsects
  20. Fantastic example from the second great era of the Trans Am series
  21. Oliver - As soon as I made the comment about the Top 10 Hot Rods, I started to think about my personnel list. This is what I came up with. I am sure many of the cars on my list will be on others as well but maybe not in the top 10. They are all hot rods that definitely have made an impact on me and all closely associated with a particular and influential individual. In no particular order 1 - Pete Chapouris California Kid 34 Ford Coupe 2 - Doan Spencer 32 Roadster 3 - Norm Grabozski Kookie T-bucket 4 - George Barris Ala Kart 5 - Ed Roth Outlaw 6 - Tom McMullen 32 Roadster 7 - John Buttera 27 T Sedan 8 - Chilly Catallo Silver Sapphire Lil Deuce Coupe 9 - Jimmy Shine 34 pick up 10 - Boyd Coddington Smoothster
  22. Always great to see a stock build of this venerable kit of an iconic car
