  1. #2 - In 1996 Revell started releasing their series of well tooled Deuce Hot Rod kits which included Dan Fink's Speedwagon Custom Woodie. At the time Street Rodder magazine had a model car column which in one issue asked modellers to send in photos of their scale versions of Sedan Deliveries. The totally fabricated billet rods of Boyd Coddington were a big deal during this era. I decided to create a Sedan Delivery in that style to submit. I filled the Woody areas and the back side windows and scribed a back door. The wheels and tires are from a Testors Boyd kit. The engine is a fully chromed Corvette C4 ZR1 LT5 from a forgotten source. The paint is Tamiya Chrome Yellow with flame decals from the Revell Deuce Roadster.
  2. With the help of others I put on a model car show called Deuce Days in Scale every three years in conjunction with the biggest gathering of ’32 Fords in world called Northwest Deuce Days in Victoria BC Canada - this year on July 20, 2025. Since getting back in the hobby in 1994 I figure I have built 42 Deuce models. This will be an on-going Deuces in Scale Retrospective. I am going to start this off with three builds from the mid-1990's. #1 - In the early 1990s after attending a car show I actually contemplated building a full-size Deuce Hi-Boy based on after market components. This model is sort of the scale version of that Hot Rod built after getting back in the hobby in the mid-1990’s. At the time the only 1/25 Deuce kits available were the unrealistic AMT and MPC offerings. The Monogram 1/24 Deuce Roadster has great proportions but it is full-fendered with frame attached. My solution was to cut those fenders off but I failed to fix the distinctive Deuce frame reveal. There were not many after market wheel and tire options available locally but I did find a set of slot mags with very nice tires. The paint is Tamiya Coral Blue.
  3. Great project. I am a huge Dan Gurney fan having seen him race back in the day and actually met him in 2006. I always associated Dan with Fords so was surprised when this Chevy reemerged.
  4. Great looking F1. Well built. There was one of these on the stage at the big 2025 F1 livery reveal in London on Tuesday.
  5. This is going to be one great looking truck with hood closed and especially with hood open. That engine is fabulous.
  6. I would just like to thanks both James and Tim for their insightful perspectives on the business aspects of the hobby
  7. Hi Tim In case you missed it there is an Under Glass thread for completed Tudors
  8. Le Monstre est magnifique !!
  9. Far out E-Type
  10. Good lookin Boss !!
  11. Very nicely built. I once had a 65 that I never got the way I wanted. Many years later I almost bought a lowered 67 but not well done and unsafe at any speed !!
  12. Very interesting piece of automotive and model car history.
  13. This is my first completion of 2025 and the 5th of 8 ‘32 Ford models I am building for Deuce Days in Scale this July in Victoria BC. It is the latest Revel Roadster body with the Duval Windshield which I had used as a test body for some painting and highlighting techniques I wanted to use on a previous project. I decided this build would be show & go inspired so it would need a supercharged engine, drag slicks, a roll bar, a drag chute, lots of chrome and all should be over the top. The are so many historic Deuces that influenced this model starting with Tom McMullin’s flamed blown Hi-Boy, Phil Cool’s 1978 AMBR winning supercharged big-block roadster with monster drag slicks, Pete Chapouris’ Limefire, a few Deuce roadsters built specifically for drag racing and of course Stacey David’s Rat Roaster. ALTERATIONS & ADDITIONS Most of interior is from the Rat Roaster Dash, steering wheel & steering column from first issue Revell Roadster Roll bar from Revell ’41 Willys HEMI engine is a combination of ’32 5-W & ’41 Willys Street Rod parts Headers & exhaust from AMT Phantom Vickie Replicas & Miniatures Winters Quick Change Everything else from spare parts Tamiya Candy Lime Metallic with kit decals
  14. Gorgeous model of a gorgeous truck. Very well built.
  15. I always liked this car from back in the day when Parnelli raced it at Pikes Peak. At the 2003 Monterey Historics - Parnelli was in this car and Dan Gurney was in a '63 Galaxie. They were supposed to be doing parade laps but they were both sideways coming out of the last corner.
  16. Being a Falcon guy I just had to see what a 49 Shoebox Falcon would look like. You really nailed it. I like it a lot.
  17. I like this very much. Have always thought Alpines were good looking cars. You have made very contemporary.
  18. Thanks everybody for your gracious comments. Not only am I very pleased with how it turned out and I also am extremely impressed with the fidelity of the kit itself as simple as it is especially the fact that it was released so soon after its victorious 1964 campaign. The instructions actually state - " We would like to acknowledge the assistance of Luigi Chinetti in helping us to produce this winner as an exact scale model." Chinetti was the USA Ferrari importer/promoter and a three time winner of Le Mans including the 64 race in this car. This is a fuzzy photo I just took with my old iphone as I wrote this reply.
  19. I finished this morning for the Facebook 24 Hour Challenge after working on it for a total of about nine hours. It is the 1/24 Monogram Ferrari 275P. The curbside kit was first issued in 1964 after a 275P won the Sebring 12hr and the Le Mans 24hr. It could be built either as a slot-car or a display model. It's pretty impressive for a model from 60 years ago!! ALTERATIONS & ADDITIONS Re-scribed all panel lines and opened up hood vents and brake ducts Modified interior side panels to be more like real car. Dash drilled for gauge decals mounted from behind Used aluminum tube for exhaust tips Dull coated and dark washed wheels Dark washed rear louvers Tamiya Italian Red with clear coat
  20. Awesome old Chevy. Great stance.
  21. Great project. TRy to get ti done by the spring IPMS Victoria model show as there is a trophy for best pickup this year. The new issue of Canadian Hot Rods magazine is the annual pickup issue.
