  6. Thanks Ed, it was a cool show, it was also a pleasure to meet and talk with you. I loved the Corvette theme, my good friend Barry Fadden took the win on that one and it was a well deserved one, I loved the color he used on that model. Hopefully for next year, we can have a bigger crowd, I think this recession has a lot to do with the attendance not to mention that it's also celebrated on Mothers day weekend. Sorry about your camera man....
  7. Thanks again guys. James, I would certainly do a few things different and the first thing is the simulated wooden bed, looks horrible and nothing like wood. I would also foil the emblems before shooting any paint and expose them at the end instead of using silver paint. I would've worked a bit harder on the panel lines. Also, I would've painted the underside of the bed to also simulate wood. There are also other little details but looking back, I can truly say I have definitely bettered my skills a bit, that's what it's all about!!!
  8. Hey Bill, congrats on your big win my friend!!!
  9. very cool my friend, I love it and I envy you!!!
  10. Also, if you use Tamiya Gloss White, there will be no need for clear, it has enough inherent gloss in it. I have used it several times and never had to clear it!
  11. Guitar string also works for that......
  12. When mastered, Alclad works phenomenally but yes, if handled too much it will rub off a bit. On small parts around the engine you will not need to worry but if you are doing bigger things like bumpers, it's best not to handle your model much, at least on those particularly exposed areas. I use a scriber to start my panel lines but always finish with the Xacto knife. The scriber makes it easier to start the process but the deeper you go, the wider the line will look. I've always had good luck with Tamiya tape, if you burnish it well and mist your paints while applying them you will not go wrong. Of course, the use of an airbrush when performing this task will definitely work best but if done carefully, even using spray cans will work. BMF is another good alternative.
  13. The article is in the tips, tricks and tutorials section already, I just put it in!!

  17. I meant to build this baby as the Arnie Beswick race car but was never happy with the shade of Bristol Blue that turned out when I finished painting it, thought it was a little dark. I decided to finish it anyway because I just love the lines of the body of the real car. I used a Model Car Garage detail set for some of the photo-etch details. Paint is Scalefinishes Bristol Blue and no, it was not mixed wrong, I know I must have made a mistake somehow and that's the reason I was not happy with the shade of blue. Jameston from Scalefinishes is one of the pickiest guys when it comes to getting you the most correct color possible when he sells you his paints, I just want you guys to be clear on that so don't think twice when ordering his paints, he is a great person to deal with. I don't remember which clear I used but in this case, I wanted to polish the clear just slightly, didn't want to turn out with an ultra shiny car since it is a vintage racer. The interior has a lot of masking work to get it to look like that, I mixed several enamel paints to get the different shades. I also used embossing powder for the carpet.
