tubbs replied to nitro_force_fan's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models

talking about 427 cammers.......
tubbs replied to tubbs's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
haha, your asking me to remember, Rob........ it was actually getting it low enough for hood clearance. i trimmed soooo much off of the frame, including suspension stuff, that it may be an easier fix just to swap fronf frames. i will have to check it out again to give you more detail on the damage.......................... inless someone has an extra frame laying around. -
trying to drop a 427 cammer into a 66 fairlane. well, its just one of those things that no matter what i do, its just not sitting right in the frame. so, how much different is the front half of the 68 Shelby 500 frame to the fairlane frame? can i get away with that swap? or any other suggestions will be appreciated.

tubbs replied to Patrick2005's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
boy, you guys are going thru a lot of trouble for a valve cover....... and i like it!! never did know about the covers not being symectrical, now every time i look at them, i will know they are wrong. was always satified with them, till now. thanks for the info. btw - i think there is a 69 torino kit that has a nascar version of this motor. -
ok, my turn..... 1 - 69 road runner pro streeter 2 - 69 1/2 road runner 440+6 3 - 69 ZL/1 vette 4 - 66 fairlane R code 427 5 - 55 chevy blown pro streeter ...... and the simple reason for these, cause the genie said i can have 5 cars. current cars.... 04 taurus 06 explorer 69 road runner pro streeter

Charles Carpenters 1955 Chevy Pro Mod......FINISHED...06/09/13
tubbs replied to tyrone's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
nice job as usual Tyrone. funny how us modelers buy that carpenter kit, steal the chassis for a different build, the motor for another, who knows where the body goes, spend hard earned cash on a resin body, evergreen rod just to build the kit we completely tore apart !! sometimes i think the wife is right.... we ARE crazy!! oh yea, when is the resin motor coming??? -
What we do for our hobby...

guys, you have to have fun with this stuff !! before i was married, would head to the local drug store where this really cute girl worked. looking for nail polish, she strolled down the isle as i was lookiing, she gave me "the look". then the fun began, i looked at her and said "excuse me, but does this color clash with my eyes?" she looked at me, then proceeded to tell me that this color would be better, we talked, i told her what it was for and we dated for 6 months. if someoone give you that "look" turn it right back on them, they wont know what to do!! cant tell you the fun i have had with my psoriasis !! this one isnt a public thing, but how many of your wives/girlfriends have heard you making engine noises when checking out the stance of a build? -

tubbs replied to Madrdnckbldr080's topic in WIP: Model Cars
talk about something you dont see too much.... very slick build. keep u posted. -
neat project Bill, i also would like to do this project. where did you cut the chassis to shorten it? and 10 years aint nothin!!! glad to see it back on the work bench.

you guys are way too organized!! THIS is a model room!!! its really in transition, a makeover if you will. in the first picture, behind the "paint booth" (can anyone figure out what it actually is?) are 10 or so computer boxes with kits in them. over the last 5 to 10 years, i have sold off half my stash. just knew i wouldn't build them all. i guess my real passion is magazines, all the grainger boxes in the last photo have approx, 100 magaziines iin each and there is around 70 or so boxes. misc stacks here and there. would like to hit 10,000 of them, have about a grand to go......

MoPar color question....
tubbs replied to JollySipper's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
everyone should have this in thier favorites........ http://tcpglobal.com/autocolorlibrary/?gclid=CLDtz9nzoK8CFcqa7QodM1NLZw -
first off, i believe the revell kit is 1/24th. if so, the chassis out of any pro stock revell kit (any pro stock firebird or camaro) the wheelbase is almost exact and the chassis futs under it real nice. if you are pro touring it, usually the tires for a pro sturing are not as wide, you can carefully cut the area from the gas tank to the frame rail out and move it (the frame rail inboard to the gas tank. check out the hoto, this is a GTX frame, but you should get the point. find what tires you want first and then you will know exactly what path to take. lowering is easy, just depends on how much detail you want under it.

tubbs replied to tubbs's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
yea, Bruno, i tried it again and it still does the same thing. -
my now defunked LHS used to sell K&S steel music wire. it came in 36" tubes. i got a few tubes from him and will cut them down to around 10" or so and tack them up on the side of my bench. mark what size the plastic rod or tubing is on the wood that i have them tacked to. i will keep the most common sizes out, for the rest, i have a plastic divided container or i keep them in the origional packaging and use a rubber band to keep them together.

Pearl Harbour - 71 years Ago
tubbs replied to impcon's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I just wanted to acknowledge the anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbour 71 years ago this morning. Thank you to all who served and are serving and let us never forget the price of freedom. God bless America and her allies and give us the wisdom to preserve our freedoms that so much blood was spilled to give us. that is beautiful and powerful words you just put down there, Gary. wish it had the same meaning for all of us. i lost an uncle at Pearl harbour......... God bless and thank you to all who serve us!! -
