  1. Looking forward to this one for sure. Is this vinyl? G
  2. Insert face palm smiley here...................... Way cool build Alyn. G
  3. Oh I like this, a lot. G
  4. Dad ran a print shop. He started there at age 15 when his dad died. 50 years later he retired as what would now be called the COO of the business. I had no desire for a career in the printing industry. My oldest was a Firefighter/EMT before joining the PD. The middle son is a psychiatric aid, going to nursing school. The youngest is also going to nursing school next fall. I made up my own mind about my career, and I let my kids make up theirs. Thats because my father told me to do my own thing. G
  5. There's a couple of different ways to accomplish this. Label maker tape sticks tight, is wide enough to stay in place and is thick enough to guide the scriber. Good for straight lines not so cool for curves unless cut. I have a cheapo circle template I picked up at one of the office supply stores. Darn near every circle can be used as a guide for a scriber or to make a template out of something like label tape. There are dedicated PE templates aircraft and armor modelers used just for scribing on irregular surfaces and creating patterns. I don't have any, I usually just wing it. Try Micro Scale's catalog. Look around the work bench/kitchen/kid's toys etc etc etc I bet ya there's something can be found to use as a guide. G
  6. You are doing quite a bit of work on this, and it is definately increasing the accuracy of the build. Is Academy's new "Reuben James" based off this kit? . I want to build a modern ship, and that kit with PE added seems a fun time. Trouble is I want some accuracy, and if it's based on this I won't bother as I am not up to speed on ships. G
  7. All kidding aside, these are my reasons. (Insert showgirl emoticon smiley here)
  8. That's like the third fatal aircraft crash in that area this year. Barstow has become the "Bermuda Triangle" of the desert. RIP G
  9. This is a wonderful build of a really neat car. You got almost all the details correct. G
  10. I retired from the St Louis PD in '07 after 28 years. Three months, and many miles on a motorcycle later, I decided I was bored. I moved to Vegas and was fortunate enough to score the state police gig. The only issues are: #1. November will be 32 full years in law enforcement. #2. LV Metro has begun hiring for some neat civilian positions. The pay is only good, but the health bennies definately beat what the state is giving us. G
  11. Hey Joe, What is the date for the Desert Classic? G
  12. I like the choices, good career move. I for one intend to turn in the badge, and hang up the gun very soon. I have decided I no longer like people, therefore I will stand alone in the desert at night waiting to be abducted by extraterrestrials. G
  13. Showgirls. Can't think of another four...........................wait. Four more showgirls. G
  14. Born, raised, and worked all my life in the MidWest and still cannot speak proper english. I can curse in four languages though.............................. Seriously, one of the finest police officers I know is hopelessly dyslexic. I field trained the guy and the first time I asked to see his notes I darn near fainted. I made the kid handwrite everything, and he did his best. Little buggers a Lieutenant now. His father was the worst in the family and, go figure, was a chief of one of the design bureaus at the old McDonnell Douglas in St Louis. He joked the F4 Phantom looks like it did because he designed it. I salute you Mr Cheap. G
  15. Lights and Sirens? OMG, I think I just wet myself................................it's been a long time since I did that. Jonathan yes LVMPD is evaluating the cars, all I get are rollerskates, but my input was requested. G
  16. Guns? That makes it a southern Nevada ridge runner. Desert dog so to speak. This would not look out of place in Georgia or Nye county Nevada. G
  17. No pics, the EVOC staff asked we refrain from photographing the cars until the order is official. We got to, ahem, peruse them at the new HQ. Then we all drove to the speedway.......................................fast. Interesting side note here, Dodge delivered a white 2011 with a Hemi, and a black 2011 with a V6. The black car had white vinyl skins on the hood, roof, trunk and both doors. Blew my mind, it looked really good. We were told it is still cheaper to paint black fenders on a white car, but the skins can be easily removed yielding an all black car at auction time. Time will tell if the vinyl will hold up to our climate, but the Sheriff wants b/w cars. Side side note, the V6 is a pig with all the police goodies loaded. It has a lot of HP in the upper rev range but takes too long to get there. Urban police cars essentially drag race from intersection to intersection. By the time the V6 is pulling good, you are back on the brakes. G
  18. Are those the decals you mentioned Saturday? All of those look really, really good. I got to "sample" Metro's new 2011 Chargers Monday. Darn it I retired way too soon. G
  19. You know Danno, you met me, I felt you were definately smart enough to at least avoid us........ G
  20. Scratchbuilding, followed by painting. G
  21. Oh yeah! G
  22. I'm seeing camper shell, grills, custom interior bucket................................... It should work for decals too. G
  23. Thank you Sir! I like the work you have done on the Gundams. I'm not real up on the story line, though I personally like the "early war"? ground vehicles made by Bandai. The hovertank and that two barreled tank are sweet. G
  24. 2011 Lincoln Town Car for a daily driver. 2012 Aston Martin DBS. 2008 Bullit Mustang. Optional 2012 Challenger RT. 2012 Mustang GT. 2012 BMW 535i Then: 2012 BMW R1200RT 2012 BMW R1200 GS Adventure. 2012 Harley Davidson Road King. 2012 Ducati 1198. G
  25. Keep up the good work, we will make a "Shermaholic" out of you yet! G
