Nice job on that dog of a kit, Only thing I might add is the difficulty of applying decals on a flat finish. Yours seem to have "silvered" a bit. That's to be expected. It is difficult to eliminate that even with good decals and setting solvent. Next time use gloss paints or a gloss coat, apply the decals, then flat coat the piece. The decals won't silver and you have a uniformly flat finish. G -

Alrighty then, lots of work to report. I foiled the emblems prior to the color coat. Interior is painted and test fitted on the chassis. Not exactly Ford, but a good representation of poverty caps from my parts box. A scratchbuilt step ladder. Ladder rack is painted. The body and hood are painted white and curing as we speak. I scratchbuilt the cabinet for the interior of the van. These were usually left parked with a minimum of gear on board. When requested to respond they were loaded with scene specific tools and equipment. G -
While working I sometimes receive calls from all over the country questioning the validity of the "Las Vegas Lottery" and "do I really need to pay taxes before claiming the jackpot?" The scammers are good. They begin their pitch by mentioning they are Agent "so and so" of the (non existent) "Las Vegas Gaming Board". I found that they are combining first and last real names of agents in each of the six divisions. Our website previously listed an employee roster by division. Then they claim you have won some freakishly large amount but "taxes are due". Go ahead and pay this amount, a relatively small number, to this account and we'll begin the jackpot process. It progresses from there. No one ever receives a jackpot pay out. They hook you and keep at it. If you inquire about how you were picked, the caller ad libs some strange assortment of facts as to how you qualify. All of the victims I have spoken to are elderly and some refuse to believe they have been duped. They call me and do not believe what I tell them. It has been so critical at times I have contacted the victim's local law enforcement agency and had them respond to investigate. I have no jurisdiction as all live outside Nevada. Key points to remember here. Greed gets the best of us sometimes. You don't win something you didn't enter. There is no "Las Vegas Lottery" nor is there a "Nevada Lottery". I have to drive to California or Arizona to purchase Powerball. No lottery in Nevada at all. There is no "Las Vegas Gaming Board". The Nevada Gaming Control Board is a state agency. The Board itself is three members appointed by the Governor. The Nevada Gaming Commission is a five member panel appointed by the Governor. No state agency will facilitate tax payments. Casinos will only assist in the simple preparation of IRS Title 31 tax forms, W2G, W9 etc. Nevada has no state tax. You deal with the IRS by submitting forms, nothing else. As previously mentioned, warn your elderly friends and family. If any one does receive a call like this, contact local authorities. G

Well I guess I'll post the first completed build. Agent G's Tamiya Sherman.

Well I stated a year for admin purposes. As far as anyone is concerned it can run indefinitely. Look at Dr Cranky's "Post Apocalyptic" CBP. It's been going on now forever! G

The Hazelwood School District in north St Louis county routinely graduated about 5000 a year in the early 70's. The three high schools in that district placed third in the country in 1976 for size of graduating class. I was gone by then, thank goodness. G

Ok, I've stayed silent lately to see where this was heading. I propose we start an "All The Rest, Part 2" Community Build on August 1, 2016 to run for a year. Rules are, no automotive subjects, unless it's so far out of the norm it defies description. Ridge Rider's Mad Max GigaHorse immediately comes to mind here. So that means we have, in no particular order: Armor, Aircraft (all types), Motorcycles, Ships, Animals, People, Buildings, Science Fiction, Science Fact, Anime', Gundams, those funny little egg shaped caricatures of airplanes and tanks and people and.... well you get the idea. I'll do my best as moderator. G

Belly Tanker resin kit from Star Models
Agent G replied to Mr. Metallic's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Looking forward to this one for sure. Don"t "cut" away the excess, use the back of a sharp blade and score the line until it either breaks free, or you can easily break it free. That engine compartment shouldn't be too hard to remove that way. You can then get in and sand lightly. Trivia: WWII vintage P-38 drop tanks were preferred, as they were some of the largest carried. 315 gallons and two for each airplane meant there were quite a few left over after the war. I have heard of a build where a Ford V8-60 was mounted in a F4U Corsair 160 gal drop tank before. That had to be a small driver for sure. G -

AMT's Phantom van
Agent G replied to Agent G's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Thank you all. I was able to sit and work on this quite a bit on my days off. I didn't like the kit shocks so I made some. Same with the driveshaft. and the steering column. Steering wheel was modified to fit the new column. Seats were modified to better represent what came from the the factory on a standard van. A lot has been painted and will be left to dry as I start my work week. G -
Never. Oh and that was temperature Danno. I gave up driving fast when I traded the marked ride for a plain wrapper. G

Thank you gentlemen! Some small progress today. I got this assembled and base painted. With the body in primer it was a good time to build the ladder rack. The work lights I have in mind will mount to the side rails of the ladder rack. That's what I remember from all those years ago. I'll scratchbuild the ladders as well. Stay tuned. G
