  1. Saw 116 on the dash display yesterday. Glad the AC in my office building works. G
  2. I'm starting this kit: This is what I have in mind. The above is obviously a 1971 Dodge Tradesman, but bear in mind by the mid '70's we had mostly Chevrolet products. Curiously the Dodge has fancy hub caps and a whitewall tire. The Ford vans were assigned to the Laboratory Division as "Command Post" type vehicles which responded to major case scenes. I'm looking to replicate the ladder racks (see above), flood lights and markings as they appeared back then. G
  3. Duplicolor "GM Blue" is real real close. G
  4. I too live in a hot dry climate. One thing you must try not to do is move the freshly painted piece between the cool inside and hot outside. Other than that, keep the AC on and paint away. G
  5. DO IT.....................do it do it do it doit doit doitdoit do it do it doitdoitdoit G
  6. The reply section was all buggered up. Carl, I will will make an opinion and only my opinion mind you, based on what happened years ago at a zoo in England. A child fell into the gorilla habitat and broke her leg. The momma gorilla protected that girl like any almost other mother on this planet. Zoo staff made onlookers leave and gradually, over time, coaxed big momma away with food. An brave handler ran in, scooped up the girl and ran like hell out of the enclosure. One broken leg, two shook up parents and no dead gorilla. I'd say that one was a win-win. G
  7. I know human behavior quite well. My career demands it. Gorilla's are likely as human as any of us. I didn't see any threatening behavior directed toward the boy. In fact, I got the impression he was protecting that child. MrsG and I both agree his stance at one point clearly indicated he had taken a position protecting the child and was staying alert for additional threats. No different than when my children were small. I can only comment on the video I saw. I don't have any experience with Harambe or what he was like. Truth be told, at his age, having been raised in captivity, I would have been surprised he did anything bad to that child deliberately. The zoo staff made a tough decision in a hurry and will be second guessed forever because of it. I know what that's like. That child's momma is the cause of all the trouble, not the gorilla. G

  12. Took MrsG out last night and had a swell time. Today I'm going to sit at home, work on some plastic and quietly contemplate the meaning of Memorial Day. 40+ years after the fact, I have come to the conclusion that it was worth it. Semper Fi shipmates, may you have fair winds and following seas until we meet again to guard the streets of heaven. G PS, Bill I have humming birds all over my back yard! Cute lil buggers.
  13. Say what you will, but I believe that big old daddy gorilla did a better job of parenting than the kid's own mother. Then they shot him. Jeez I have two sons and a daughter. All are adults now, but I could tell you where each is, within a mile, even today. G

  15. One more, this one hit home like no other. The son of one of my best friends, I watched the kid grow up. G

  20. This was taken during my time in homicide. That's me on the right, I'm supervising one of the cold cases. G
  21. We had an absolutely over the top "Active Shooter" drill at my state office building this evening. Over 200 role players, 3 suspects firing weapons and two simulated IED's. A little bit of fun for everyone. When the smoke cleared and the dust settled, my merry little band of detectives and I were told we outperformed most of the large SWAT teams participating. Now, this was NOT a competition, we were not graded and the sole purpose was to train hard for when it really occurs. The goal was for the upper brass to spot difficulties and rectify them. I told my peeps to get in there and take care of business. Don't get distracted and listen to me. Our goal was to march toward the sound of the gunfire, identify the threat and neutralize it. No fancy "tacticool" equipment, no "star wars looking" rifles, just me and six motivated police officers. Squad #2 kicked azz. Those kids did me proud tonight. G
