  1. The extra arms are a fixture unique to the NYPD Traffic division. That's called a "McDermott Light Bar" after the inventor. Google that phrase and you'll find images to assist in the construction. NYPD radio cars are actually pretty plain inside. A radio and a combo siren/light controller are pretty much it. They have way too many cars to add all the gizmos to all of them. G
  2. I can see either of my last two wives driving that. G
  3. This is the typical set up albeit in a Ford Mustang. The radar antenna is on the dash The display is the square box just below and the remote Jeff speaks of in on the console by the parking brake lever. Here's the real deal I used for reference. That is a Missouri State Highway Patrol '89 Mustang LX curently sitting in the basement of HQ in their superb museum. G
  4. The term "take down light" Is really only currently applicable to CHP slicktop (no overhead light bar) cars where the driver's side spotlight has a red lens. California state law requires a forward facing, steady burning, red light visible from 500 feet. Hence the take down function of the drivers side spotlight. This is a modern CHP Dodge. This is my take on a CHP Dodge using the Lindbergh kit. Note the spotlights, driver's side red and passenger clear. A flashing amber to the rear is another legal requirement. Hope this helps. G
  5. The new movies are ok, but I am a TOS kind of guy. I always loved Lt Uhuru. Zoe Saldana is cute as all get out but, she's not Nichelle Nichols. G
  6. A finished model car? From Danno Baker? Oy what is this world coming to? I love it bro, just love it. No better tribute to those byegone years. G
  7. Nicely done Rich. G
  8. Gorgeous! That car in stock form was such a homely lil bugger, it's amazing how good you make it look. That's talent. G
  9. Hey you been watching me? Oh I apologize, haddock eh? I thought you said Hebrew........................... G
  10. I really like what your doing here. More please. G
  11. Detail obsessed I would say! The kits engine has the twin front mounts so I'm going with that. The left front mount will take the place on the frame where the kit has the steering box. I googled dozens of images and discovered the location of that box really doesn't matter as long as your steering shaft has the right number of couplings. I said I was obsessed.......... Any way here's what I mean about the frame. All that pink is Bondo filling sink marks. This one's to be a hiboy so that frame is quite visible. Here's where I left the body last night. Hard to see the seams but some things are visible nonetheless. Theres a nit in the trunk panel line on the drivers side just above the lower panel line. It's by that smudge on the trunk lid. See the tulip panel and the two prominent seams extending fron the trunk to the base of the roof? Yeah that's a flat seamless panel on Henry's cars. It is actually a raised portion between the trunk seam lines that is going to have to be filed down it's that high. It's a curse I have I tell ya. A curse. G
  12. Tom I have loved this kit since it was introduced and have purchased many over the years. This one has been sitting for a bit but there is a marked difference in mold quality between this and previous 32's I've done. I have at least two hours in the frame and spent an hour on the body late yesterday evening. I'm no where near done with the body, at least not to my nitpicking standards anyway. Now I have built one Revell '32 five window and have one in the stash and it is apparent the molds are newer. G
  13. Thank you all! I spent so much time cleaning mold seams on the body last night it was too late to take pics. I'll try tonight right after work. G
  14. The only reason I'm a stickler for detail on my copcar builds is that I drove most of the cars I model. Like I mentioned earlier I spent a lot of time in that red SLFD Tahoe and remember quite a bit. I'm primarily an armor modeler and it shows in my copcar builds but here, no one sweats the details. It's a hobby and should be, oh yeah, FUN. Build those babies the way you want them to look and never hesitate to ask questions. Quite a few of us are active or former law enforcement or firefighters. G
  15. That is a great looking Enterprise. Scott the only time I've seen the Bandai kit or any of the others besides Revell and Polar Lights is at the Star Trek convention here in Las Vegas. As you can imagine the vendor area is ENORMOUS and one entire corner is models and built ups. The kits are expensive as all get out too. G
  16. Oh my, that's a nice one! G
  17. I quiet down when MrsG puts food on the table................................ G
  18. That is really well done. G
  19. A van was often used as a prisoner transport vehicle by the PD. Quite a few were also used by the Laboratory Division being driven by the evidence technicians (CSI). A bad accident scene would see a van of both types. G
  20. Tom I didn't either until I was walking by the toy aisle on my way to find spray paint. I saw this truck kit had an Ardun engine and "the wheels immediately began to turn". G
  21. Rarely, if ever, do I play the radio during my commute. I will play certain cd's on a roadtrip, but mostly I like quiet. Funny story. I'm on my motorcycle following my brother somewhere in Kansas. He has his wife with him, I'm solo and riding behind. Neal is on a brand new Gold Wing with all the bells and whistles stereo, tape deck, intercom, you name it that garbage barge had it all. Suddenly I see my sister in law haul off and smack my bro in the helmet. He hastily exits the freeway and pulls into a gas station. When I asked he sheepishly says he put the intercom on "mute" many miles back and didn't hear the Mrs. request a potty break. Ahhhh yes, peace and quiet. I took one of my wives on a bike trip exactly once. G
