I'm not that familiar with Joplin, but when you know what was there, then see that, well it just makes you cringe. That wadded up car, holy moly! I was ordered to remain and run the district, but my BFF sent daily updates. Sadly, she was killed last year on her farm due to blizzard conditions. Ironic isn't it? G

It's been so windy in Vegas I saw a flying monkey by Bellagio. I wasn't sure if it was a new Cirque du Soliel show or my ex was in town. G

I grew up, lived and worked in St Louis dodging tornadoes. We lost our front porch in 1967, we were lucky, houses down the street were destroyed. I saw two 18 wheelers turned over on the I 270 "Chain of Rocks" bridge in 2006 just before I retired and moved away. Between those dates I spent countless times in the basement waiting. Several of my coppers went to Joplin and saw that devastation first hand. Tornadoes are no fun and not something to be trifled with. I pray for the current victims. G

I have the best source for Mexican food yet. My administrative assistant hails from down Zacatacas way and adheres to the old adage, "if you love it, feed it". There isn't a day goes by she doesn't send something she made home for MrsG and I. Her boyfriend lamented he has been dating her for 6 months and gained 10 pounds. BTW fish tacos are yummy. G

Ok here we go. I'm building this for a GB on another site devoted to the M4 Sherman tank. We decided to use the old Tamiya kit and see what develops from there. I will be constructing a USMC flame tank from the Iwo Jima campaign. I decided to scratch build all the odds and ends unique to a US Marine Corps tank on Iwo Jima. I'm using sheet and strip for the wading trunks and various rod and sheet to fill unsightly holes. The entire engine deck and sponson tops will be covered with sand bags, but I just didn't want to take any chances. Obligatory start shot. I began with the upper wading attachment. I took strip and just eyeballed it from here. You can see where I filled the big ditches on the rear of the hull. Trimmed and puttied That's all for today. G

I've used Eduard PE on a couple of tanks now. Not bad for what I did, easy to deal with. They tend to add all sorts of details that frankly don't need to be replicated in most instances, but hey, they try hard. G

Being a trainer it would be better maintained than a front line fighter or bomber. The finish would be more of a gloss than anything else. Think of enamel straight from the bottle not polished or clearcoated. The color is close to MM "Chrome Yellow" or MM "Insignia Yellow". Both are slightly darker, more orangeish tones. Rudder and ailerons were fabric covered so they'd have a slight semi gloss finish. Or, since I'm sort of a rivit counter in these matters, just spray the plane with a rattle can of "Chrome Yellow" and call it good. G
