  1. I was at a light yesterday evening sitting beside a honey in a Foxbody convertible. The car was a bit rough but that 5.0 sounded real sweet when the light went green. I had almost forgotten that sound, brought back some memories. What "does it" for you? G
  2. I want to know where you got the giant quarter. Superb work John. G
  3. In my best Homer Simpson voice, Ummmmm paaaaaaaint G
  4. I got a guy here who I'd use to set up a trust and give financial advice. I'd buy new appliances, pay some bills, buy a Cadillac Escalade and travel. G
  5. Hey Ray, Hobby Lobby sells the same basic case in 8.5 inch length and 9 inch. Both are marked for 1/24 scale cars. Guess how I found out? G
  6. I was there with you and Mojodoctor. Sorry to hear he passed, and at such a young age too. RIP, Matt G
  7. Nice! G
  8. I was looking at these. Let me know how the car works out for you please, sir. G
  9. After 4 pages I come to the conclusion we are way too fragmented in our preferences. Hot Rods, muscle cars, stock, emergency vehicles, you name it we all have our preferences. Producing a viable kit in that market is kinda like pinning jello to a wall. There is a divide demographic as well. Any model company representative reading this thread would be suffering nervous tics right about now. As a group, the active modellers with money for the hobby are us older guys. How long can we remain active in the hobby and should the manufacturers target us? In the short term we seem like a good bet, long term not so much. Food for thought. G
  10. I briefly owned a C4, a 1993 with the LT 1 engine and despised the thing. The then wife wanted it but couldn't drive it, she scared herself. I didn't think it was all that bad a&& myself. I haven't even looked at one until the 2014 came out. G
  11. Last week was why I moved here. G
  12. Same here. I found that MM Ivory took a minimum of two weeks and sometimes wasn't fully cured even then. G
  13. I have a jar of Mr Surfacer that should by all rights have been tossed years ago. I continue to add laquer thinner a bit at a time to rejuvenate the stuff. I use a selection of old brushes colected over the years that I have cut down. All I do is dab the Mr Surfacer on and continue poke at it with the brush. You must watch carefully as there's a point where it sets and any further work will be counter productive. The Final Drive Cover (nose piece) was textured with Bondo Spot Putty mixed with Testors liquid cement. I used the same brushes and technique. There is no right or wrong way. The cast pieces were quite crude and never finished beyond what was required for assembly. It made no sense to polish a tank to perfection. Even as late as the 80's early 90's the turret of an M60 A1 or A3 is really quite rough. G
  14. A hectic week and the promise of in laws visiting starting tomorrow sent my schedule into a tailspin. Began with the turret. I added back some stretched sprue to replicate that seam in the turret bustle. No finished shots just yet. A self proclaimed expert on another site decreed I do that texture thing all wrong. I no longer visit that site, in fact a lot of folks don't anymore. Their loss. While I was at it I added texture to other cast parts. I couldn't resist adding those track block holders seen on 4th and 5th Battalion tanks. You can see the strip I used to add fender detail. In fact I have yet to use any AM or PE parts preferring to roll my own. Here are stretched sprue weld beads. The rest of the hull will be covered with sandbags so I only did what might be seen. G
  15. Nope the only fliers showed up at out local Hobby Town USA just prior to the show. There's a reason I drive to Phoenix. G
  16. Very, very nice. Both are very well built. How long did it take for the MM Ivory to dry? G
  17. That is sweet. I'd love to have one just like that in the garage. Wait, it wouldn't fit......... G
  18. Be thankful you didn't attend. I'll be down in November, we'll get our party on then. G
  19. I was looking at a house onetime back in Missouri, great asking price. Had a nicely finished basement, great lawn and a strange "divider wall" in the office basement. Tracing that wall's location to the outside of the place revealed a large crack extending from below ground level up into the soffet. Corresponding damage in adjoining rooms led me to believe the house was seperating into two halves. When I brought this up the real estate agent looked shocked and immediately called her office. Right in front of me she says " He found it, what do I do now, what do I say?" I left. Oh and what irked me lately? IPMS judges who were drinking during the show, actually starting before judging began. Club members who participate in their own show and one of which who, oh yeah, takes a sweep of a class....... Lest you think this be sour grapes I scored six trophies and my grandson two. Maybe the drinking helped? G
  20. Oh heck yeah. Hot, dry and windy are the conditions that big fires love. One year after the big Carpenter 1 fire north of town, people here are finally realizing what a danger fire poses. They didn't understand that just because we aren't surrounded by trees doesn't mean that fire wouldn't march right across the valley. G
  21. That gas tank is glowing! Great job. Looking forward to seeing more of the Stuka also. G
  22. Thank you gentlemen, you too Danno. I'm finally getting around to building all the subjects I've wanted to build for years now. G
  23. This is looking great despite the paint issues. G
