  1. I take a water bottle lid, squirt some paint into it, then add thinner. I paint the pattern as I work around the tank. By the time I finish the first layer, she's dry enough for the next. All that is just multiple light passes with a soft round brush. Brushing a pattern like this using my techniques is way faster and in this case more accurate than airbrushing. Like I said earlier this build is so freaking fragile masking was out of the question. G
  2. Expense not withstanding, I have always had issues wth TS13. It bubbled, ran and oftimes effected the underlying paint. Each time I used it was over another Tamiya product, so I don't believe incompatibility was a factor. The one time it did go on well it looks superb. G
  3. I weathered the piece based on period photos. There is no paint chipping and minimal rust. These M4A3's were collected from the supply point, modified and painted just before the invasion. They were on the island a month or two at most. The last thing I will do is dust the whole thing up. Vehicles on Iwo Jima became covered with a grayish pumice dust in no time. G
  4. Maryland State Police (Olive Drab and Black) New York State Police (White? and Dark Blue) Virginia State Police (Dark Blue over Silver) Illinois State Police (all white) North Carolina Highway Patrol (Silver roof, body Black over Silver) South Carolina Highway Patrol (All Silver, might have two blue stripes down the side of the body) Chicago PD Traffic Division (Blue/White) NYPD Motorcycle Precinct (Black Green White) Missouri State Highway Patrol (most likely champagne gold) G
  5. 111 here today and we haven't seen rain in, oh, months. The brain trust here has also allowed for the sale of fireworks. Marvelous. We have been under a severe drought and firewatch all year so far. G
  6. As far as the '70 Ford Interceptor, CHP did not use Fords for patrol use during that time period. They did use a Mercury Monterey which is essentially the same car with different sheet metal. The kit's engine is wrong as well, that SOHC big block was never offered as a cop motor. The Mercury had a 428 ci Police Interceptor motor. G
  7. Looking good. I don't think the Chargers interior really needs more flat coat on anything but the carpet. G
  8. Thank you sir! I started this one, sort of lost interest, then really got into the build. Here's some more paint. This is where I will leave this for the evening. For the camouflage pattern I used Vallejo "Yellow Tan", "Mahogany Brown" and "Black Gray" . The sandbags are basecoated in Vallejo "Dark Sand". G
  9. Now that I have a few days off it's time for paint. I made the decision to spray the basecoat of Olive Drab, then brush paint the camo pattern. The real tanks were painted that way plus this model has way to many fragile parts. I was afraid of masking over them. That's Tamiya OD lightened a bit with Tamiya "Desert Yellow" It'll have a faded appearence when weathered. I'm going to use Vallejo for the brush painting. G
  10. Cylons are my favorite enemy. That ship is looking good and with all the work you are doing should be killer. That rocket is really, really cool. After reading your comment I picture it in steel with brass accents and dirty. G
  11. Oh lordy. I feel a sense of accomplishment when I simply wire a ferkin' engine. This is just, just, just.............. Oh my, just stunning. G
  12. Any Cirq show, Penn and Teller, Blue Man Group, Celine Dion, The Rat Pack, etc etc etc On the strip you have: Car exhibits, arboretums, lakes, fountains, shark tanks, bird sanctuaries, The Titanic, Bodies, CSI, etcetcetc. There is a massive ferris wheel, about 200 pools, 300 bars, a tram, pirate ships etcetcetc That's maybe four or five properties............ G
  13. I had a Ducati that would set off car alarms. Great fun when working nightwatch. G
  14. If it has two wheels I require a motor to be placed between them. Seriously I have never fully enjoyed bicycle riding, but I am a life long motorcyclist. G
  15. I went to The Quad last week. The cars are still there in all there glory! Las Vegas has slowly become like any other big metropolitan area, everything you need all in one place. The "entertainment district" read casinos, is quite a bit larger than most though just due to the history of the place. We now make more money on dining and entertainment than gaming, although gaming is still a big factor. Nevada has a lot to offer besides casinos and if nothing trips your trigger, just drive somewhere that does. I'm roughly 4 hours from any tourist destination imaginable in the west. G
  16. That settles it, I'm staying home. G
  17. I've found some fine dining in the Phoenix area as well. Working as I do, the casino's hold no allure and I only go into one on my days off for shows and to eat. Working, well I'm all about casinos then. G
  18. Here's a bit more then. Primered the trunk and fixed some rough spots. First primer coat. G
  19. Hire me! LOL G
  20. I do not miss winter in any of it's forms. I do not miss humidity, especially when you can drink the air surrounding you. I do not mind 100+ temps, desert landscaping and palm trees. I do like, wait for it . SHOWGURLZ! G
