  1. I guess in this case, the 22s would be in feet, not inches.
  2. Wow, that's one pretty Firebird you have. I'm sure you'll do it justice! Regards, David G.
  3. I agree. Though I don't use their forum, I do subscribe to both magazines. There are too few resources available for our hobby for us to to be "fanboys" about any of them. Regards, David G.
  4. It looks like a fire victim. (I mean that in a good way) Excellent work on the weathering! David G.
  5. I remember this one from its "On The Workbench" phase, and I was very impressed by your work on it at the time. Now, it's just completely off the chart! Well worth the time you took on it! Regards, David G.
  6. It looks like a gearshift boot! Great work on the van, what you've done so far is nothing short of amazing!
  7. With the right background, it could pass for the real thing. Maybe a good diorama is in order. Excellent work. Regards, David G.
  8. Very cool! Excellent weathering. Your door hinges, are they made from pins and tubing? Could you share some of the details on how and with what they're made? Thanks, David G.
  9. Coming along nicely! The interior looks great. The paint has a nice factory looking shine to it. The extra details are great too! Regards, David G.
  10. Whistling works too.
  11. Or you could leave the wheels black and put "Fire Chief" decals on it. It looks nice but I'd like to see more pics, though.
  12. Yep, they're the same thing, an emissions device used on gasoline automobile engines in the 80s. Do you intend to model one, or need to replace on on your car?
  13. Wow Jim, we were nowhere near that cold in Phx. Seventeen degrees is cold for anywhere, let alone Florida. I feel for you guys. I don't know the final numbers, but the projected lows for last night were upper 20s to low 30s. Our winter storms come in from the Pacific Ocean through California or the Northwest; we're too far west to get much from Canada. Regards, David G.
  14. Tell us about your plans!
  15. Yup. I remember in 1998 enough snow stuck to the cars that my son and I were able to have a snowball fight in the front yard... at his 10th birthday party. Best. Party. Ever. David G.
  16. Wheels like that on a car that old still don't look right to me. Sort of like putting flotation mud paddle tires on a Mazarati.. . . . . . . ok, I'm done now
  17. Raul, I'm always impressed by your skills. Another excellent build! Regards, David G.
  18. I'm not really a "gear-head" but I do have a modest set up that I noodle around with. It's a mid-80's Jackson-Charvel passive four-string running through a Zoom BFX-708 digital effects pedal and a 200w 1X15 Peavey combo. Between the EQ and other processors on the amp and all the settings on the effects pedal, I can squeeze just about sound out of it that I want. I have knocked pictures off the wall in the next room with it. Regards, David G.
  19. I didn't say the track was in the U.K., I said the folks who capitalize on Jack The Ripper are in the U.K. I've played Forza Motor Sports I and II, I know where "The Ring" is, even if I never completed a clean lap on it! Regards, David G.
  20. The Ring is quite probably the deadliest race course on the planet. Maybe this fact could be capitalized on the way folks in the U.K. capitalize on Jack The Ripper and other aspects of their history... Tourism. Tram tours could be taken around the course and all the famous crash sites could be pointed out to tourists as the names and markings on the track surface are translated and explained... "It was here, in 1963 that famed Italian driver (insert name here) lost control of his custom built Mazarati causing it to leave the course at an estimated 108 mph, costing him his life." Yeah, I know it's kind of grim, but it's perhaps the thing that has generated the most fame for this race course. And besides... Jack The Ripper? Regards, David G.
  21. In addition to my own name, I have only two screen names that I use: daveag or Midloth. The first is obviously a contraction of my first name and last two initials. The second comes from a region in Scotland where my grandmother's clan, Harper, was said to have lived. When they were there, the whole area which includes Edinburgh and the surrounding areas, moslty to the south, was known as Lothian. It has since been divided into three regions East Lothian, West Lothian, and, you guessed it, Midlothian. I loved the sound of that name from the moment I heard it; I dropped the "-ian" and it's been my alter ego for more than thirty years. I've associated it mainly with the gaming sites to which I belong, so I don't use it here. I also don't feel a need for anonymity in this community. Regards, David G.
  22. I had one of these when I was about 9 yrs. old. It was way beyond my skill level at the time, and there was nobody to help me with it. Consequently, it never got it built. But I still loved the kit and have very fond memories of it. It's nice to see what it looks like completed. Great job! Thanks for posting the pics. David G.
  23. Maybe it's just your choice of words, but "calling people out" and "slamming" their work is just what we're talking about not doing. We (most of us any way) want to offer constructive criticism to help people improve their skills, not punish them for failure. For the most part, I no longer offer constructive criticism of any kind. There are some members of this community who are mature enough, or truly want enough to improve their skills. I will offer honest critiques of their work, otherwise, if I see a build posted with sloppy paint or wobbly wheels, I move on without comment, or try to find a good feature to comment on. But I've never made an attempt to "slam" anybody or "call them out" on anything. If I ever felt that such was warranted, I agree with you, a PM should be used. There's my input on our quarterly "Honest Critique vs Coddling Post" (no offense to OP ) Regards, David G.
  24. I don't mind at all when others post related pics on a thread that I start. If I'm building a '55 Chevy and there is someone else is building one too, feel free to post a picture. It's fun to see what someone else is doing with the same kit. If you have a tip on how I might improve on something I've done, and you can show me an example, post a pic. Most members of this community honestly want to see others improve their skills and have no wish to "one-up" a person who may have less experience or skill. I've learned more about model building from this community in the past year, than I have in any previous ten. I just see the pics as a part of the post.
