  1. What a fabulous project and an essay in creativity and courage! David G.
  2. Hello Everybody! I guess it's time to get back to matching up that mismatched mess of the bumpers and side moldings. *sigh* They're such a prominent visual feature of the car that I feel the need to get them done as correctly as I can. If I'm going to get the bumpers and side moldings to work and play well with one another, I first need to get the bumpers into a satisfactory state. I've stripped off the "chrome" plating and done a little pre-primer cleanup. Let's start with these annoying ejector pin marks! Kudos to the designer for trying to conceal in this manner but it just won't do for my tastes. First some putty to fill in the low spots. Then a little sanding to knock down the high spots and some primer to show me what it looks like. There is some improvement but I think I can do better. As always, thanks for taking the time to look and please feel free to comment if you wish. David G.
  3. Thanks Carl! David G.
  4. Of course they would say that. It's poor form for any professional to speak ill of any other member of that or any other profession. Like Espo said earlier, if you're dissatisfied with the outcome of the surgery and your subsequent treatment by the surgeon, contact the hospital review board or whatever medical board oversees HCPs and surgeons where you live. Take care Chris, I hope you can find a good outcome to this difficult situation. David G.
  5. Daniel, I have to sat that that starter is the most accurate and properly detailed starter I can recall seeing in that scale. ? David G.
  6. Nice progress Jeff. I like the metal finish of the blower intake. And the custom vanity plate makes a good statement. David G.
  7. Hello Everybody! Needing a distraction from the plight of the hood, I decided to address the chrome issue for the rear bumper. Here I've stripped the old chrome and gave it a shot of primer so I can get it all smoothed out to be painted with Rustoleum Chrome paint. It looks like a successful mission! Photographing chrome is a bit tricky, so here's another shot to give a better idea of how it turned out. Pretty good, I must say. As always, thanks for taking the time to look and please feel free to share any comments, opinions or advice you may have. David G.
  8. Thank you Alan, it's most kind of you to say so. David G.
  9. Hello Everybody! I'm slowly getting back into the bench groove so here's another update on the P-61. Test fitting the crew cabin and fuselage. The seam at the top needs a little smoothing out. Still more test fitting and lots of zinc chromate paint and some weathering washes. The seats have been installed and the interior is mostly done. As always, thanks for taking the time to look and please feel free to post any comments you may wish to share. David G.
  10. You are correct Johnny! You know it's a good vacation when you're gone just long enough to want to return home when it's time, and not so long that you dread the thought of your next vacation. This was a good trip on all accounts. David G.
  11. Thank you Tim, it's good having you along. Using a photo of your wife would make for some cool nose art. I haven't decided what to do for this one yet but I'm working on some ideas. BTW if you have any photos of those P-61s you mentioned, feel free to post them here. I always enjoy seeing what other builders have done with the same kit. David G.
  12. Thanks Jim, it's good to be back. Now all I have to do is get the ol' bench rhythm back. David G.
  13. That really turned out great! I'll be looking for it in the Under Glass section. David G.
  14. Wow Chris! I'm left speechless at the apparent lack of good judgement and concern exhibited by your surgeon. In my mind, that seems like a measure of malpractice. And on top of all that, still having to work? ? If due to an obvious medical condition you are unable to fulfill the basic safety requirement of wearing proper protective footwear, your employer should be extending a paid medical leave. At least until you recover enough to meet the basic safety requirements. It's all really none of my business but it seems like you're getting a raw deal on both accounts. I sure hope situations begin to improve for you Chris. I can only imagine how frustrating all of this must be for you. David G.
  15. Love the color! Great looking build too! David G.

  17. A gorgeous build! Fabulous looking paint. David G.
  18. I heard that they used to ship automobiles in box cars but this is the first photo I've seen of it. Thanks for sharing this. David G.
  19. A beautiful build! Great detail for the scale, or any scale for that matter. David G.
  20. Hello Everybody! I'm back from vacation! I had a delightful time driving across nearly the entire North American continent. I got to reconnect with family and friends and had the pleasure of meeting my our first grandchild. As grand as all that was, I have to admit that I did miss the "thrill of the build" and occasionally thought about what I would tackle next at the bench when I returned. So now here I am and I find that I'm having some small amount of difficulty getting back into the building state of mind. Given that, it's best to start with something simple to rebuild the lost momentum. Needing a diversion from the daunting task of dealing with fitting and finishing the side moldings and bumpers, I decided to take on something a little less challenging. Adjusting and fitting the tail lights. As provided in the kit, the tail lights were waaay too large and thick to fit into their proper locations. Pictured here is the result of a couple of build sessions of filing and fitting. I used Molotow ink to repair the damage to the chrome plating and a red Sharpie pen to color the lenses. Here are the tail lights properly installed. As a bonus, I applied some BMF and a blackwash to the "cat ear" vents to punch up their appearance. That's all for this update. As always, thanks for taking the time to look and please feel free to comment if one should wish. David G.
  21. That is indeed some mighty fine engine detail. The vinyl top looks great too. David G.
  22. I remember watching you put a number of these together and I really enjoyed following the WIPs you posted. It's nice seeing them all together like this. This collection deserves to be in a museum somewhere! A fabulous job on each and every one of these delightful builds! Congratulations Andrew! David G.
  23. Great work on the chassis, nice metal finish on the exhaust. Good call on the stripes, they look great! David G.
  24. Nice work on the rear suspension Ron. Those tires will fill the fenders quite nicely. David G.
  25. I'm awe-struck by your dedication and persistence Sir! ? David G.
