  1. The PE grill is a vast improvement! David G.
  2. Hello Everybody! It's time for the next update on the P-61. Here's a second pass at smoothing and filling the seams in the wings. With the wings filled, smoothed and painted with Tamiya AS-29 Gray Green, it's time for a test assembly. Here's a shot of the front of the aircraft with some tape added for structural integrity And a quick shot of the completed interior. Thanks for taking the time to look and please feel free to post any comments you may have. David G.
  3. I'm painting the wipers with a silver Sharpie and the vent windows with Molotow chrome. David G.
  4. Thank you Trevor. I think George Barris converting the Futura to the Batmobile not only created a pop culture icon in the Batmobile but also rescued the Futura from falling into obscurity. David G.
  5. I have one and I'm quite happy with it, thank you. When I brought it home for the first time, my wife said, "It looks like Dodge that Intrepid you wanted!." So I can see the point of some people taking issue with Chrysler using the name "Charger" for a performance sedan, but what about Lincoln slapping its name on an "upscale" pickup truck? and don't even get me started on the Cadillac SRX and XT series! But no matter what Chrysler decided to call the Charger, I likely would have bought it even if it was called an Intrepid or Polara. My decision was based more on appearance, quality and performance, than the name. I literally drove by a car lot one day, saw it sitting there and decided to take a test drive based on its "curb appeal". David G.
  6. Don't think I haven't considered it! If I had multiple kits.... David G.
  7. Hello Everybody! It's time for another (though minor) update on the Ford Galaxie. The foil work is mostly done. All I have left to do is the wheel arches and a little touchup here and there. But first I'm going to clean up the residual adhesive that the foil has left behind. As always, thanks for looking and please feel free to post any comments you may have. David G.
  8. Thanks Lenny. I haven't noticed any differences in the adhesive based on where the foil is on the sheet but I'll keep that in mind the next time I use it. Noe I'm curious to know if there is a difference. Thank you Carl. I agree, I don't think there's a color clash but to my eye it still doesn't look quite right. I think that's because it's a little too heavy and a bit uneven. David G.
  9. Yeah, it kinda does! Based on the front view, I've come to think of it as "The Devil's Catfish" David G.
  10. I'm interested to see how all this comes out. It looks good so far. David G.
  11. Spectacular work on the doors Andy! The rest of the model is a sight to behold too, exceedingly well built and detailed. David G.
  12. Hello Everybody! Work on the Lincoln Futura continues and here's proof! The next step is to get the rear bumper to fit flush with the body. Remember those corners I built out? I intentionally overbuilt them to allow room for adjustment. Well, it's time for that adjustment. Much better! As always, thanks for taking the time to look and please feel free to post any comments you may have. David G.
  13. Even after 40 years it still looks great Helmut! Thank you for posting it. David G.
  14. The seat will look much better like that. The body is coming quite nicely too. David G.
  15. Looking Daniel! David G.
  16. Impressive work as always! David G.
  17. I'd say you nailed it Robert! Your rust painting technique yields some very convincing results! David G.
  18. That paint looks fabulous Nicholas! Also, all the little details you've tucked into every little corner of this build really bring it to life. David G.
  19. Hello Everybody! It's been a little while since I posted an update to the Northrop P-61 Black Widow, so here it is. Masking for a test shot of primer then hopefully some color. The seam blending looked pretty good so I shot some Tamiya AS-29 Gray Green. I also started assembling the turret and threw it in for a test fit. As always, thanks for taking the time to look and please feel free to post any comments you may wish to share. David G.
  20. I just found this WIP and I have to say I've enjoyed watching the evolution of this build. That's going to be one great looking hot rod when it's done. David G.
  21. Thanks for the feedback Bill, I'm glad you found it useful. David G.
  22. Not to worry Jim, I'm not offended at all. I meant to say that I was considering the suggestion you offered ...because you offered it. I hadn't really thought about just removing the tint all together. The only thought I had was finding a way to make it work. I sometimes get stuck on a particular outcome and you helped me to consider a different option. Thank you. David G.
  23. Hello Everybody! The push toward the finish line continues! I continue with the application of more BMF! It usually takes me several one to two hour build sessions to complete the foil work on an average American car. This most recent batch of BMF is much better than the last batch I ordered several years ago. This stuff actually sticks! The other batch did not. It would literally fall off the model like a tree leaf in Autumn. The only trouble with this batch is the adhesive it leaves behind after the excess foil is trimmed and removed. The residual adhesive is easily removed with some mineral spirits and cotton buds... But that's an entire build session or two being used for something that shouldn't need to be done. And there's always a chance of damaging the paint. That's it for this round! As always, thanks for looking and please feel free to share your comments. David G.
  24. Ya know? I'm actually considering that suggestion Jim. More people would be likely notice presence of a feature of marginal quality than notice the lack thereof. Thank you Will. David G.
