  1. In my experience, it takes patience, practice and repetition. You may have to work the same area multiple times. A variety of tools may be required in some spots. If you can, practice on some junk bodies and parts to get a feel for it. Treat every part of the kit as a model by itself. When you are happy with that piece, go on to the next. Rushing through any section will give you less than desirable results. Mostly, have fun!
  2. Great replica from a great cult movie!
  3. Agreed. Life is too short. That being said, seeing other's work is inspirational.
  4. Spotlight Hobbies shows they have the Aerosedan in stock for a reasonable price still. https://www.spotlighthobbies.com/manufacturer/galaxie/ And HobbyModels, which I've not bought from have it for a better price: https://hobbymodels.com/collections/galaxie-limited And even cheaper at Strike Force Hobbies: https://www.strikeforcehobbies.com/product2266.html Again, no experience with this vendor.
  5. Uh,,,,Dr. Spock?
  6. This looks great to this point! Thanks for your enabling review...now I have to have one.
  7. That actually looks...kinda cool. Like a sun-baked interior.
  8. Nicely built paper model! Had to look closely.
  9. Maybe try Goo Gone. Just a dab. Anything you do is likely to have some kind of impact on the artwork especially if you use any friction. I'd definitely try it out in a hidden spot first if you can, or on something that you don't highly value. If it's very valuable you might consider having a professional repair: https://www.randystoyshop.com/box-repair/ I've removed some pretty ugly stuff from boxes with varying degrees of success. Fingernails, plastic scalpels, Goo Gone (usually for tape residue), Windex, dish soap, magic eraser, etc. It's a trial and error process.
  10. Just...wow! That Trans Am is a knockout! Oh, yeah, the General looks nice too...
  11. Diabetes is no joke. My mother was type 1 and both of my brothers are type 2. To say I'm at risk is an understatement.
  12. The unfortunate truth about any modern collectible made specifically to collect is that it's only value is artificially created. There is no historic, or intrinsic value to any of the many items made for the collector's market. Since any perceived value is created by artificial scarcity, it will inevitably collapse. Years ago my neighbor's wife was left holding dozens of worthless "rare" beanie babies, each in their clear plastic collector boxes. A young co-worker of mine is busy collecting "exclusive" Funco-pop bobble head dolls. How many young people do you know that have binders full of "Magic the Gathering" rare cards? - You can't give them away in most cases. A few astute folks may get some real money for these items in the short term, but mainly they'll all soon be decorating the shelves at your local charity organization. Don't collect things for their potential monetary value - collect because you enjoy them.
  13. Beautiful work so far. This is going to be a show piece!
  14. Jealous! You have a Big Drag...I'll probably have to make my own clone from parts before I ever snag one of those.
  15. And here all this time I thought that was you in your profile pic. I mean, mine is of me, so...
  16. Nice score! I am a huge fan of these huge scale cars (and bikes).
  17. I'll say this again. I think the mismatched paint on the hood is a happy accident. The clear hood really makes this car pop!
  18. Nuff said. Always some cowboy out there wanting to make something out of nothing.
  19. Well, that's way too political a topic for this forum. Not touching it.
  20. deleted
  21. A great assortment of desirable vehicles!
  22. Mr. Bezos could definitely save some money by paying for quality help. You'd think that the shipping department is staffed by poorly trained monkeys. I just don't think they give a flying flip about anything.
  23. These big Tamiya bike kits are always at ridiculous asking prices on eBay. They sit there week after week, month after month, waiting for that poor sap that just has to have it at any price. Every once in awhile though, someone will put up an auction with a reasonable asking price. I was fortunate enough to get both of these from the same seller for a bearable cost. The Kawasaki is from 1982 and the Honda is from the 2011 release. They are both new in open boxes. I'm pretty excited to have snagged these!
