    The 500 SLC was an homologation version produced for the 1978 WRC and was as such a production car with the then new 5.0 litre all aluminium engine.

    Nice to see an XR4i being built. The injected Pinto 2 litre Sierras went very well back in the day for a family car. I remember driving them when my dad's Scorpio would be in for a service, same engine much less weight and no electric everything.

    The wood interior decals are difficult and need lots of microsol and a hair dryer.

    Yep.you hawe to bmf the windows as well as the body shell, although masking and Molotow pens should help make it easier these days I'd imagine. Also the photo etch type chrome side trims just wouldn't stick down for me, but if it's the recent re-release you should be ok.

    I'm on a couple of sites that aren't car only, but you can put your kits up for sale in a given thread. It's between you and the other party only, i haven't seen any trouble with it.

    The Tamiya body is much better, but the Revell is the only full kit. Can anyone shed some light on this, they never tooled up a brand new one when they had this in the company stash surely?

    It's not Airfix George, it's Revell. It's a rare kit, but George's new release seems identical. Says 1/24 on my box, the new repop says 1/25. Here's a couple of pics comparing the wheelbase, the Tamiya i1/24 is the silver one.

    Acrylic car rattle cans don't pull up with the masking tape, haven't tried enamels for years, but they do tend to pull the primer and colour coat off when even Tamiya tape is removed. Normally I'd say spray the lightest colour first,, but a silver/aluminiun should cover masked red bodyshell parts without problems and should be easier. Clearcoat and polish! Just my take on it.

    Missed a bit of this, fabulous scratch building as always JC. I still want to see the mk2 though, did you get a new Italeri one?
