I've Gone eBay Crazy!
disabled modeler replied to oldcarfan's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I agree its a great place to find or research an old model/promo/etc. Yep I have seen some try to get you with a high shipping charge before...never found anything I needed/wanted that was in the 10.oo range myself but would be nice to. I have to like the 60s/70s models and promos....hardest ones to find too...even the parts are crazy for the ones I need them for most times. My biggest issue is the lack of a real budget to work with 90% of the time...after paying bills there just isn't much of anything left to compete with others deep pockets. Some I have been looking for parts for I have been looking for many years now with not really any luck..shame to see them just sit and wait the way they do to be restored. -

I have learned to be very creative on my budget...LOL.. there free tools and you always have a supply of plastic to make them from...I have used them for many years...you just want them to be a bit stiff and not too flexible so you can control using them... -
Richard... I hope you find your cars for your collection buddy...I am going through the tough search for some we owned family had over the years. I know it gets aggravating and old fast...specially on a very very small budget to work with...be persistent look at antique malls, second hand stores, garage sales your day will come. If I find any of the ones your looking for Ill let you know. Carl buddy...hope you feel better soon.

Colby...another trick is to make your own painting point tool. Just heat up some scrap parts tree till soft and pull it till its thin then while holding it blow on it till its cool again. Then just cut it to the desired tip. I do this and use very little paint on the tip...it takes a steady hand but works if you want to use paint for the trim. -
Welcome..! I built a old junker its under the trucks and light commercial thread...Ill bring it up to the current page so you can find it. I like to be different in building/collecting too...LOL

Is Hobby Lobby Restocking?
disabled modeler replied to oldcarfan's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Ours is the only game in town or for over 125 miles from me. Even though ours is very slow to get kits in I hope they will continue to carry kits...with their 40% off coupon there more affordable to me. I just wish they would carry or get more of the releases or re-issued older kits that have not been out in many years...seems like they get about 1/2 of what comes out if any at times. Would be nice if they got the hobby shop only stuff but I know that is asking a lot. -
Carl buddy...You are so right. The cost of living outweighs the income greatly these days...its a stuggle for many of us.

Most of my models are water damaged
disabled modeler replied to kpnuts's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
Sorry to hear you have to deal with this....I have been there too back in 2011 we had a tornado here and my model room lost a few windows. Wind and rain, etc. came in had to toss out many old boxes, instructions, decals and a lot of them need parts now and repairs. I would not put them on a radiator might not be good one the plastic...I used a blowgun and a air compressor on very low pressure to dry them out carefully. -
