disabled modeler replied to gtx6970's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I try to stay in the very late 50s through 70s body styles but have a few newer ones....77 Cadillac coupe DeVille Johan snap kit...love there snaps. -
Chris buddy....there so cool its not funny...we need more campers and bed caps for us all to be able to build they make nice additions to ones collection. Though my scratch building skills are not great I have a few Id like to build someday.

'60 DeSoto promo
disabled modeler replied to 62rebel's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Some promos have a plastic, metal, and friction chassis and you do have to be very careful what you use to strip them with....I striped a 60 Ford HT once the plastic cracked and warped badly ruined it. The older promos had a strange weak plastic that was known to warp and get very brittle...shame. I am a nut about them. -

Welcome Steven...! I like a bunch of different stuff myself...cars-2door,4door,wagons,vans,pickups,campers,trailers,big trucks, motorhomes, farm and construction related, pleasure and speed boats, scale figures,diorama....factory stock or a version of, custom, showrods,...even some large scale stuff. I mostly like the 60s to mid 80s body styles also into promos and restorations. -
Welcome George..! One nice thing about building models is we get to make replicas of the cars/trucks we would have loved to have owned...and the ones that got away we did own.
-
Nice Caddy...! I am a fan of the Johan Cadillac kits. Carl sometimes older kits become brittle with age...older usually the more brittle but have seen some that were just like the day they were made.
-
I started building in the early to mid 70s at 6 or 7 years old....there were great kits out back then...miss them. Happy birthday folks... ...hope you all have many many more and with plastic.
-
Welcome Tyler...! Nice VWs....a very good friend of mine once gave me great building advice to help my builds look better...treat every part as if it were a model itself and building is supposed to be fun and not a race. I have been building since about 6 or 7 years old...

Steve.... That is one beautiful car....we owned a 69 and a 70 once loved them both.

missing stuff
disabled modeler replied to bubbaman's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Most companies are very happy to make things right with newly purchased kits that came from stores they deal with...but there is always someone that thinks they know it all and can get anything past them. Older issued kits your on your own with like my Unimog truck kit...who knows maybe it was a hobby shop kit that got opened by someone and got re-sealed thinking it was still complete..? Glad they exchanged the 2 wagon kits...got smart and opened them up in the parking lot and caught it quick enough.
