  1. I had a friend who was a stickler for Mopar details and I have learned a lot from him. One of the things he taught me was engine block colors for a given year. I sought out and found a listing for engine block colors that I keep bookmarked for future reference. I once did a non-judging build-off with a friend from Canada with my friend being the "nip-picker" (there's a whole story behind that saying) and we built our Chargers in the same color, but in different building styles. Both Chargers came out beautifully, although I think my friend from Canada had the better model.
  2. The Story As the cruiser drives along Rt. 241, McNally watches the scenery roll by including checking behind them. The car hasn't been running long as it still hasn't gotten up to temperature yet and the heater was still blowing cold air. McNally is still shivering quite a bit from the cold air, but Chief Banning and Ed seem to be warm with their heavy jackets on. The cruiser turns down Collis Road for a couple of miles and then it crashes through a snow bank onto an old path that wanders into the woods and stops about 1/8th mile in. The Chief and Ed get out of the cruiser and the Chief opens the back door and says, "End of the line for you McNally. Get out!" The Build I started assembly with the joining of the body with the chassis. The grille is installed and the roof and hood are removable. McNally will return...
  3. Thank you Pete! My '64 GTO was painted with Tamiya TS-58 Pearl Light Blue over white primer.
  4. Well Kevin, I guess I'll just throw this kit back in the stash since someone already built what I wanted to build! LOL Just kidding! That is a great looking Charger, Kevin! Now i have an idea of what mine will look like with Cragar SS mags and if I can find one, a Hurst T-Handle for the stock shifter. I think there's a racing shifter with a T-Handle that I can steal the T-Handle from in the kit!
  5. Thank you guys! It was either retire the model and put the GTO away or rebuild it. I'm glad I rebuilt it as it looks 100% better now than when I first built it!
  6. Wow! I can't believe that I had started this build almost three years ago and then I just lost all interest in completing it. I have decided to pull this kit out and finish it, so I have updated my picture links.
  7. That is the Monogram '64 Pontiac GTO kit. Thanks guys!
  8. I have finished my '64 Poniac GTO and it is posted in Under Glass. I would like to thank all those who taken the time to view and to comment on my WIP.
  9. This is my '64 GTO painted with Tamiya TS-58 Pearl Light Blue with a Model Master #28145 Silver Blue Metallic interior.
  10. I hope to finsh the GTO today. I finished wet-sanding and polishing the hood and body this morning, then I installed the glass and the interior. I cut some thin strips of Bare Metal Foil and wrapped them around the radiator hoses. I cleaned up the bumpers, grille, and taillights. More to come...
  11. Nice GTO Geno! I love the upgrades you made to the kit. I'm hoping to get back to polishing the body and hood today.
  12. Thanks Steve! It's not perfect (nor will it ever be), but it will be better than it was years ago and I can forget all about "Memphis Beat".
  13. I finished the engine by re-installing it into the chassis. The tires have been lettered by hand. I may do some more detailing to the chassis later. My original thought was to polish the body with Meguiars Scratch X 2.0, then Novus 2 and then Novus 1. Instead I wet-sanded the body since I have plenty of clear on it and it is full of trash. I still need to polish the body sides and the hood. You can clearly see my bench light reflection in the roof. More to come...
  14. Thanks Jeremy and John! The foil is lifting in some spots, the paint is scratched in others, the model is covered with dust, one valve cover is on backwards, and I'm finding all kinds of things that need some attention. I think I can make it better!
  15. I built this model 6 years ago as the Memphis Beat '64 Pontiac GTO driven by Jason Lee as Det. Dwight Hendricks. When I finished the build, the show was cancelled and the model sat on the shelf ignored by me since then. I have been looking at this model for the past couple of weeks, wondering if I should do anything to it or just put it away in a box somewhere. That all changed when I discovered a set of Pontiac wheels and knock-offs in my parts box this morning. The wheels and knock-offs came with the '64 GTO kit and I had put them away for a future use on something. I took the Poncho apart this morning and will wash everything, repaint whatever needs repainting, and reassemble the GTO. More to come...
  16. Thanks Ron! I'm trying to get this one finished since it has been on the bench too long. I wetsanded the body and hood, touched up the spots I burnt through and applied the decals. It's going together nicely!
  17. The Story As Chief Banning drives up Rt. 241, the old police cruiser wasn't heating up fast enough to create any heat for the interior. McNally sat in the back seat shivering and wondering where they were taking him. After a few minutes, the Chief turned off of Rt. 241 onto Collis Rd. and drives a couple of miles before turning off onto a snow cover dirt path for a couple hundred yards before stopping. He gets out of the cruiser and opens the back door and the Chief says, "End of the road for you McNally, get out!" McNally gets out of the back seat slowly still shivering and is lead into an opening and told to stand next to a large mound of earth. Chief Banning stands next to Ed and they both pull their revolvers from their holsters and the Chief says, "You've stuck your nose in where it doesn't belong. This is where you are going to die." The Build I got the Bronco body decaled and foiled. I'll let this dry for a couple of days and then start clearcoating with Testors One Coat Wet Look Clear. McNally will return...
  18. The Story The following morning finds McNally being pulled off of his bunk as usual and then being dragged outside into the cold morning air. Everything is wearing a new 3 inch coat of snow as the Boston PI is escorted to a running Bolton's Pride Police Cruiser without a coat and he is shivering. Chief Banning and Ed get into the car after securing McNally in the back seat and then they drive out of the parking lot and northbound on Route 241. The Build It's been a while since I have worked on the Bronco, so I am back at it for a bit. I choose an aftermarket air filter and applied the factory engine decal on top and painted the filter flat white. The windows have been installed into the top. I painted the engine compartment with Model Master Flat Black lacquer and as the paint dried, it cracked. I had forgotten that I don't like this flat black as it is quite thick. I sanded and scraped much of the paint. I think I have some Tamiya TS-29 Semi Gloss Black left so I'll give that a try. McNally will return...
  19. Thanks Ron! I am taking my time building this TBird so I don't muck up anything. You say that you have built three of them, did you have any issues during assembly?
  20. I'm glad to be free of Photobucket! I have struggled with the slow response of the site and the ads galore. The whole situation could have been handled better, but they shot themselves in the foot. I have all my pictures on CDs and thumb drives, so I was willing to let my pictures go. Class Action Law Suit, no thanks. Not worth the effort.
  21. I got the body, hood, and rear seat cover (not shown) into a coat of primer in prep for paint. I painted parts of the chassis with Model Master Acryl Guards Red.I painted the engine this morning with Tamiya TS-49 Bright Red. More to come...
  22. If I had known to look farther down the page, I would have seen this and would have entered this CBP. This is my slump buster, the Foose 2013 Dodge Challenger SRT8. I did a little detail painting on the chassis and interior and lowered the suspension. Other than that, I built it out-of-box.
  23. A subject you don't see too often and you did a great job on it!
  24. I though the common sense gene pool was starting to fill up again, but it is still dry!

If you still want to get more out of your model building, join a model club!!!

  25. I just used a fine-point black Sharpie and just drew the line around the edge of the whitewall, which is plastic and has a slight beveled edge to it. I've done this to several sets of these tires over the years, so it has become fairly easy to do.
