  2. I'm trying to fight just that problem with this build! Touch up, fix rear glass, fix wheels ... done! (maybe???)
  3. I'll give it a try. If I want to repaint the black (it's a molded-in door handle), I assume I need to really wash the car body after using Novus?
  4. I have a car body I've painted w/ Tamiya Spray Lacquer, and I'm really happy with the result. I've done most of the trim in Testor's Enamel, and it looks good so far. However, I managed to really booger up one spot. Is there a way to remove the Testor's without damaging the Tamiya paint? thanks!
  5. For what it's worth, I stopped in at a Hobby Lobby today while visiting family. Wouldn't you know it - there was one 1930 Revell Ford Coupe on the shelf. I bought it. So, I suppose there are at least a few still in the wild. Maybe not dozens, but at least a few. Good hunting!
  6. Getting there ... I had to recreate the front glass, due to the original being damaged. I used the original as a pattern and cut the new piece from clear plastic. Decent, I suppose. The gear shift, I now realize, is hugely oversized. I lifted it from some junker that was in the spares box. It'll have to do. I need to (still) clean up the trim around the gas cap and the front of the car. I think a wash around the panel lines would be a good idea. Remaining tasks - clean up the wheels; paint and install the rear hatch and quarter windows, paint the door handles and locks.
  7. Well said, Tom. Totally agree on all points. Now ... I sure hope Revell brings us a 29 / 30 Ford one day. Meanwhile ... I'll be rooting through my stash of other cars, trucks, and planes.
  8. Your build is looking great! That light ... I'm having a difficult time refraining from toilet humor on that one.
  9. Cool. I like seeing these obscure kits being built!
  10. Two nights in a row! I added a little wash to the nooks and crannies. I think it looks a little better. If I can only not booger up the dashboard ...
  11. Super, Duper, Teeny, Tiny small update! I got a coat of paint on the interior. It's looking more "rust" than "dark red"; but I think I'm going to run with it. At least, I'll try a little wash and drybrushing and see where it ends up. Worst case - purple pond.
  12. Sharp!
  13. That is impressive! How was that kit to build?
  14. I like where this is headed.
  15. Very cool. I'll be watching this.
  16. BIN is nice, but it can go on thick. I've had great success preventing bleed-through of red plastic using silver or gold hobby paint. Strip the model (Purple Power or equivalent), wash and dry. Use LIGHT coats of silver and let it build up - two or three light coats and you're in business. I'd use all Testor's or all Tamiya paint - just don't cross brands and you'll be in business. As to comments - it seems in today's world, being somewhat anonymous behind a keyboard or screen seems to cause folk to forget their manners - don't sweat it. Keep trying and keep posting your progress. Worst case on this body - if it's toast, but it appears you might be able to still work with it - see if someone will be willing to trade, or if Revell will help you out. But don't give up, it's a great hobby.

    Awesome!
  18. Nicely done!
  19. Probably a lot of old Z's look this way now. Very realistic. This is the Revell kit?
  20. Your work is impressive! Do you have a site showing all of the Cobras you've built and are working on? Or is there a thread on this site showing all of your Cobras together? I think it'd be cool to see all of the differences.
  21. Tiny update. I finally decided to paint the spoiler black. I still need to fix the trim a little on the side, but it's a little progress. More to come ....
  22. Oh, the humanity! I love it!
  23. Nice save!
