  1. Nicely done! I tried to build the Heller kit when I was kid and was, no surprise, unsuccessful. Impressive work with the decals.
  2. Awesome work. Cast this body in resin and sell us a few copies! Really enjoying what you've done so far; and as others have stated, it'll be nice to see a "different" Cobra!
  3. Thank you. I need to take pictures outside - but it's raining here today.
  4. Thank you. In person, it's sorta, kinda, maybe a little close to Grenoble Green. Well, definitely 70's green of some shade.
  5. Marathon masking to shot a small bit of Alclad. I'm not sure what the black spot is on the passenger rear. I've tried to polish it out, and I polished through the clearcoat and started hitting the base color, so I stopped. Think I'll mount an antenna there to hide it. (I "think" it's the panel liner accent that I was using, but not sure...) Lots of orange peel in this one, but I'm going to live with it. I'm certain the engine is the wrong color, but given the total lack of detail under the hood, I'll probably glue the hood shut anyway. Interior is straight from the box.
  6. This will be cool; looking forward to seeing more.
  7. Still looking for these parts - I know it's sort of a long shot. If someone has a built up that is salvageable for these parts, I'd be grateful. (parts 13, 14, and "Interior" with it's molded on frame)
  8. Boy does the cell phone camera make something look bad. Nothing glued in yet ...
  9. So very sorry to read about your brother - so young. As others have stated - very nice work on your builds. I'm sure they hold even more meaning now.
  10. Thank you for following along on my other build - that disaster and hopefully soon subsequent rebuild is mostly documented here: In the meantime, I snagged a good deal on another Scout II kit and decided to do the smart thing and build it straight from the box, so here goes: So far, I've painted most parts. I plan to "carpet" the front of the cab with some flocking. Color is old Testor's Model Master Green Go (Dodge 1970/71) Sublime Green. These were cool paints and I hate that they were discontinued. In retrospect, I probably should have decanted and used my airbrush, but I've made it this far. White top is Tamiya primer, followed by a thin coat of Tamiya Pure White. The black is Mr. Finishing Surfacer 1500 Black, and the reddish seats are Tamiya Oxide Red primer. I'll carpet the front with flocking and need to figure what color to paint the (barely present) door cards.
  11. Really nice looking work!
  12. Thank you, Jeff. I looked through their stuff and while I didn't find anything specific to the Scout, I did find a bunch of other stuff I'd like to try!
  13. Like I need another project, but I'm looking over my stash of Monogram Cobra kits and thinking it's been too long since I built one. That said - has anyone used this after market engine by VCG Resins? I'm tempted to try it, but wanted to see if anyone had any experience with it. Wondering if the through-the-body headers (and side pipes) will work with the Monogram (now Revell) kit... https://www.vcgresins.com/shop/p/shelby-cobra-fe-ford-big-block-engine-kit
  14. Just going to bring this right back to the top because it is such epic work. @65slotcar - did you finish the entire fleet of Cobras?
  15. That would be very helpful, thank you.
  16. Hello All, I'm looking for the interior tub with it's molded-on frame and the front and rear suspension parts for the AMT Scout II. Located in Durham, NC 27713 Parts 13 and 14, plus the interior tub/frame itself. Thank you in advance.
  17. This is great news. I've picked up one of each of the 1st generation RX-7 kits recently tooled by Hasegawa. They are, at least to me, impressive. I'm sure this kit will be just as good. If only they'd add RHD and LHD interiors..
  18. Those are from Fireball Modelworks - FMR-050 Resin GM Truck Door Handles.
  19. Definitely agree on the Monogram 59 Cadillac! I'll add a few that may not be everyone's cup of tea: Monogram (Revell) S-10 / Syclone (not the 1/20 Lindberg kit, either) Monogram Cobra 427 AMT Cobra 289 AMT 55/ 57 Cameo Monogram 37 Ford pickup Tamiya Lotus Super 7 (the 1/24 version)
  20. Looks really sharp in that color!
  21. OK, I know this is an older post, but WOW! Juergen, Do you have any build photos of this beauty?
  22. I was starting to feel pretty good about the ol' Scout and felt like I was nearing the end. I used my Mk. I wheel alignment jig and was pretty happy with the wheel alignment: The front bumper and winch from the now defunct Olson Bros. Scout II upgrade set: Nearing completion, I realized the interior tub was pulled a bit away from the body. Nothing a cheap clamp and some Tamiya thin cement won't fix: Next, I scratched up some decals. Bear in mind, I have never created decals before. Side commentary here: In honor of my brother-in-law who gave me the kit for Christmas (2022), I created "Dave's Surf Shack": After a few coats of Tamiya clear lacquer, I put the decals on the Scout, only to realize that 1) I didn't trim the clear close enough to the lettering on the door, and 2) the decals immediately curled over themselves. So, lots of working with the decals to get them to mostly lay down, and I decided to dirty up the model a bit in an effort to maybe hide the not-so-great decals. But ... tragedy! In my own clumsiness, I managed to knock the Scout off the bench and onto the concrete floor of the garage. Ugh! So ... realizing I wasn't really super happy with the way the model was sitting (even though the wheels were parallel from left to right, they did not all four touch the ground), I'm looking at this as an opportunity to make better decals and to hopefully fix the ride height. Unfortunately, the rear bumper (also part of the Olson set) took a real hit in the fall. Hopefully I can salvage it. *sigh*
  23. I hadn't even considered Jeep or RC parts. Thank you for that ...
