I had to try what happens when I test my polishing set... Nova's top is now pretty shiny, but there are some very little scratches on the paint. My finest grit was only 8000, and I need to have some finer grits too. Maybe 12000 is enough to smooth and shiny paintjob. The top is polished now up to 8000, but otherwise the body is polished up to 4000. But now I'm going to finish two fast builds before this one, because their deadline is coming closer and closer. You can see the scratches in that second picture...

69 Daytona Pro Mod 1/16th scale updated 4/3/12 ..It's a wrap!
W-409 replied to Romell R's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
It looks very good so far. This is absolutely one of the coolest builds in this forum. Great looking Daytona when that body is mocked up, I really can't wait to see it painted. -
Wheels are painted, I tried to replicate Magnesium or something. Paint is Humbroll Metallic 53, bolts and nuts are painted aluminium and center caps are semigloss black. Painted letters from those tires also, I'm pretty happy about the end result. Engine needs fuel pump, needs to start searching one. While searching, I could move on to the interior and chassis.
-
The paint has been stripped off from the engine, and I can start building it too. First I must take apart everything I can. Valve covers need to be modified also, and then I will add Merlin decals to them.
-
Very nice looking Fury, it looks like real car what has been abandoned for few years. It's nice to see four door cars too, can't believe that it's actually 12 hour build...

Yes, those Olds Cutlass headlights are pretty close, and they would work fine. Do you mean Scale Auto Magazine? Tail-lights are harder to do, it would be great to see that article.... -
Detailing is amazing, and very interesting build too. I haven't seen these new Pro Stockers being built, and I'm really interested seeing this one. Keep up the great work.

Great build, and excellent subject! Did you get those rear tires fit, or is it still in "To Do-list"? Engine looks great so far, and I like the stance. And is it OK if you add X2 or something like that to the topic title, and I post my progress here also, since I'm building other D/S '69 GTO? Like our Community Build, you know.

Body is clearcoated now. I it needs some polishing, since there's some dust now (last picture). But otherwise I'm pretty happy about it. Now just needs to let it dry for few days.
-
Yes, I guess so. Yellow letter just don't fit into my eye, so I wanted to paint them white. It's not going to be as accurate as it could be, but pretty close.

Here's another Pro Mod Daytona, driver is Graham Ellis. Great job again, that floor looks good. Detailing is amazing, I could Never build anything like this. Thanks for sharing. -
Thanks Chris, I have two-part bondo too, and I'm using these Green and White Putties sometimes, but usually I use that two part bondo. It dries very fast, that's true. The worst thing with two part bondo is, that it is harder to sand than this putty. But overall, it's better stuff, and I've been using it mostly.

Watson Tribute '59 Thunderbird "The Pennsylvania Bluebird"
W-409 replied to John Goschke's topic in Model Cars
This is maybe the coolest Thunderbird, I've ever seen. I really like Larry Watson style scalloops, and this has turned out awesome. Is that somekind of Semi-Gloss paintjob? -
I bought White Putty from Model Car Contest, and I had to test it now, since I managed to get that front end fit correctly. I applied some White Putty now, and it's much better than Green Putty. Smooth and thin, Green Putty is rough and thick.

I painted the letters from two of those tires. Other two are still waiting, maybe I'll paint them today. They didn't turn out as good as I wanted, but I guess I can live with them. I have also continued working with that carburetor, and body too. But pictures of carb. and body are coming later.
-
Alright, Thanks Ron! That helps alot. Now going to paint that axle.
-
Pretty cool '57 Ford. Not sure if it was posted, but I'm too lazy to search thru these eight pages again.
-
Rear axle is primered. It looks alright, could be better, but those little mistakes can't be seen on finished model. I'm going to paint it soon, but what color should it be in original car?
-
Front tires are from Jo-Han box, but rear slicks are from my parts box. Wheels are resing castings by Marko Piironen, and they are really good quality. Wheels and tires fit well together. Hope to have more progress today, but let's see...

...So I started and took the Cuda apart. Then I removed the paint from almost all of the parts. Paint left off easily, and quite fast too. Then I started working with the engine. There's a plastic axle what goes thru the engine block. I filled those holes, and then applied some putty. After some sanding, I painted the engine block orange. Transmission is painted silver, and before gluing valve covers and oil pan, I took resin copies from them. Now I can use those resin parts as a "Master", and I can cast more of those parts. This is where I am at right now. I have installed valve covers, and intake manifold etc. I added some details to the carburetors. (picture two) They look better in person actually.
-
I joined with Jo-han's '71 Pro Stock Cuda too. Bought it in November 2011, and the basis for the project is this Glue Bomb Cuda. Pretty good basis, since there are almost all of the parts, and they are in good condition too. It wasn't expensive either, and all of the parts were possible to take apart, there were no too much glue used.
-
Nice STW Caprice, engine detailing looks sharp. Paintjob is also great. Those wheels and tires are only thing, what's disturbing me, those big wheels and low profile tires just don't fit to beautiful car like this. But anyway, very nice job with it.

Ok, thanks for the information. That means some more conversion work to do, but I'm sure, that Model King kit can be converted to factory stock '74 Chevelle-Malibu. -
Very cool build! I like all of the details, you've done. Rusting and weathering looks very good too. Sunset pictures are great, and this build looks like 1:1 car on them. Also it's nice to see more people from northern Europe here.
