'73 Chevrolet Chevelle- Mastered by Tom Ellifritt
W-409 replied to W-409's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
How about this kit, what's inside the box? If anyone has it, Please let me know, is the body good quality, and how does that front and rear end look like. http://www.ebay.com/itm/MODEL-KING-1973-74-MALIBU-CHEVELLE-SUPER-STOCKER-/370536413801?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item5645b0fa69 -
Here is an other Stocker on my bench right now. I bought Monogram Pro Modeler Series '70 Torino from Stockholm, Sweden last year. Now I'm starting to build it as E/Stocker. I haven't done too much yet, but rear slicks are from that Monogram kit. I had to make some room for Centerline wheels, so I removed some material from them, to make wheels fit. Those Centerline wheels are casted by Marko Piironen, and they are really great quality. Front tires are from my Parts Box, those what came with the kit, didn't just look good. I've also done some sanding for that engine, and it's ready for primering now. Maybe I can primer it later today, but let's see that later. This kit is great quality, so I hope this will turn out good.

Ok, I casted 14 Rochester Carburetors, and here is the first one painted and installed. Bit rough still, but I'll be doing just a little cleaning before I add details to it. I think those carburetors turned out pretty well, they actually look better in person.

Well that Is Great looking AWB Fury! Stance is just perfect, and I like that wheel and tire combo. Looks like you did super job on the engine too. It's sad, I haven't seen any '67 Plymouth Fury or Vip model kits. Otherwise I would build one Finnish D/Street '67 Vip.

Another of my oldies....49 Merc 'lead-sled' (built in 1980)

This is great, AMT Mercury can be modified to very cool Custom, and you've done that perfectly. Nice job on the body modifications, and engine detailing is great too. Can't believe, how old build it really is, it looks so good. -

Wow, Great Job On The Body Painting! That's Smooth And Shiny. Going To Be Very Nice Build When Finished, I'll Keep Watching. -
Very cool build of Legendary Drag Race Car. As You can see from my Avatar, these '63 Z11 Chevrolets are great. That build looks super nice, paintjob and decals are looking very realistic. I like that engine too, very nice build all over. I'd like to see more of these.

YeeHaw, nice to see Mike building Chevrolets too! This is going to be really nice build. Can't wait to see, how this kit comes together, since I've been thinking about buying one Copo Nova, but I have one already on the bench, so I'm not sure about that yet.

I've been speechless for long time, when whatching this build. Amazing job with it, that body looks very realistic to me. That Blue shade on the windshield looks very good too. That Firewall is amazing too, keep it going.

Yeah, where are the other projects? Engine is installed to the frame. It didn't fit very well there, but I finally managed to get it glued nicely. I guess there's no way to take it away anymore without a saw. Hopefully I can finish waxing the cab and front clip tomorrow.

Engine is now ready to be mounted, needs to install two more parts to the frame, before I can install that engine. I'm not sure, am I going to display this with the hood closed, or open. I've also painted the propeller shaft. Anyway, I have built this engine with no pressure or stress, it's not as nice as it could be, but I'm pretty happy about it.

That Morgan came out great. I like that red paintjob, shiny and smooth. Very nice job all over, clean build without big mistakes. Those wheels look pretty good too. Thanks for sharing this build.

'62 Bel Air Super Stock Drag Car Hayden Proffitt's Car
W-409 replied to Reeves Racing's topic in Model Cars
It was in '63 Chevrolets. Here's quote from Wikipedia: "A special 427 cubic inches (7.00 L) version of the 409 engine was used in the 1963 Chevrolet Impala Sport Coupe ordered under Chevrolet Regular Production Option (RPO) Z11. This was a special package created for drag racers, including aluminum engine and body parts and a cowl-induction air intake system, along with the 427 engine. The aluminum body parts were fabricated in Flint, MI at the facility now known as GM Flint Metal Center. Unlike the later second generation 427, it was based on the W-series 409 engine, but with a longer 3.65 in (93 mm) stroke. A high-rise two piece aluminum intake manifold and dual Carter AFB carbs fed a 13.5:1 compression ratio to produce an under-rated 430 hp (320 kW) and 435 lb·ft (590 N·m). 50 RPO Z11 cars were produced at the Flint plant. GM Documents exist that show 50 Z11 engines were built at the GM Tonawanda engine plant for auto production, and 20 partial engines were made for replacement/over the counter use. No evidence from GM has been found that show 57 cars were built." Really nice build, great to see old Super Stockers being built. This Hayden Proffitt car is looking really good- in 1:1 too. You did great job, painting looks good and very sharp build overall. -
Wow, that NASCAR Ford looks really good, and Mean! If there comes a kit, maybe needs to pick one up. Also that 2010 Chevy would be nice to have, with Jeff Gordon decals of course. (Don't mean Snap Kit)
-
Yeah, and that would be good thing for the first Slot Car ever. Maybe it would be great way to learn, and then build one from model car body and seperately bought parts.
-
They look really good, but the prize about $60. Needs to look, are those kits cheaper, or do I have to buy chassis, wheels tires etc. seperately.

Thanks for the name, Andy! '69 Nova had originally Rochester Carburetor, and that one what is in Revell kit, presents a Holley. So I guess, I'm going to change it. Found Rochester 4bbl carburetor from Revell's Black Widow kit, and after bit of drilling, I managed to get it looking like this. I also glued little piece of Styrene to the underside of the carburetor. Then I drilled two holes to it, and added some metal wire to them. This helps me to cast few Resin Quadrajets, hopefully they turn out good.

 ! If some Finnish sport men or women wins, it's possible, that there's some Doping taken before the competition. Actually our sport men or women are not winning this year, I guess, maybe better luck next time.
-
Yeah, it's possible, and I guess, that you have better liquids there, like Purple thing (what was it?) and that Easy Off. We don't have so much of these liquids what remove paint.
-
This turned out very nice, and I have to say, it looks amazing with that front clip of the body too (as I said in WIP topic, that it could be maybe removed, and only grille would be used). Paintjob is very nice, shiny and so smooth, stance looks good and finishing is done very cleanly, there are no mistakes at all. Those lights could be maybe in bit different place, maybe bit higher, because now, when watching it from the side, lights can't be seen, and it looks like there are no lights. Anyway, from the front view, it looks just perfect. Really nice build, thanks for sharing it.

That's really good question! I've been thinking about that too, but maybe it's just like Mike said, let the insurance pay from the crashes... Great to hear, that there might be lots of snow, then I'm not the only one with this problem. I guess, snow powls have busy time then... Haha, I was suprised to see some Finnish language on this topic. Yeah, I've been here for a while, and I'm going to stay.
