Building Monogram's Street and Revell's Racing Version of Shelby Cobra.
W-409 replied to W-409's topic in WIP: Model Cars
You mean that Street Cobra? It's bought from local auto parts dealer (Biltema). Biltema has Hobby paints, and that is Hobby paint and then they have "car colors". They are That store has everything you don't need... But those paints are pretty good. Well, some of them. That blue metallic paint is good quality, and red and gold are good ones too. I have tried some others too, but they were really bad. Most of the people are saying, those paints are bad, and I'll say that Metallic Blue, Gloss red and gold HOBBY PAINTS are good quality, but other ones, I've tried are really bad. It's good to spray clear on those parts, Cobra has no clear, but it's not bad idea... If you use clear, use Biltema's clear for hobby paints!!! Otherwise paintjob will go wrong, I think. You must be VERY careful with those paints, but it's possible to paint good paintjob. Maybe there's no Biltema in USA.. But many other paint makes are close to that color, I believe. They might be better quality too. Maston has Metallic blue, and that's quite good, I think. It's bit lighter blue. Oh yes, I can post a picture of that spray can, if I find it anymore... Hope this helps. -

Interior is now in MR Muscle. I got the chrome plating stripped off from the wheels and intake manifold and that part which goes around the carburetor. Carburetor isn't ready yet, but I hope it will be without paint and chrome plating soon. Thanks for looking, comments are welcome. -
Well this is one of the only new Mercedes Benz models, which look good... And your model is great looking, that paintjob is just beautiful. Really shiny and smooth. I like those wheels too, they look very realistic, I think. Those opening doors look good too. There are two things mattering me. Other one is that engine, it looks really simple. Maybe this model should look better with the hood glued on its place. That's not maybe because of the builder, I think, it's a mistake of this kit. Other thing, I'd paint some black wash around the spoiler seams. But anyway, it's very good model, those two things are very little and they doesn't matter so much. THANKS for sharing.

I installed the starter. Drilled also hole for battery cable and glued it on its place. Seats and door panels are painted brown, I'll paint some details next. Those door panels need bit of styrene also, and I don't have the window cranks for them, so maybe I must build them scratch too. Let's see...

Building Monogram's Street and Revell's Racing Version of Shelby Cobra.

Well, I tried that interior flocking... First I masked that place, where shifter comes, and then I started spraying some matt black, straight from spray can. Well, here's the result. I'm happy, I bought some MR Muscle to remove paint, this is going right now there, maybe tomorrow I can paint it again, if everything goes alright. -
Great work so far. I would like to build '64 ½ Mustang, I think, '70 Mustangs, for example are seen very often, and '64½ is my favorite year model. But anyway. your project looks very good, that trunk lind looks good, and great to see you've opened the doors too. This is really interesting conversion, I'm watching this one. Keep us posted.

Engine block is painted matt black right now. I painted the heads also. Needs to remove old paint, and some chrome from those other parts from the engine, I'm right now going to buy new bottle of MR Muscle. I painted the frame gloss black, but before painting, it needed very much sanding and cleaning. But now it looks ok to me. I'm moving to the interior, needs to put some flocking. Reference pictures from the chassis would be very appreciated, I have good pics from interior, engine and stuff like that, but I'd like to have few chassis pics. Thanks to Cato for some pics, but of course I'd like to see more of them, if you guys have pictures of Cobra chassis. And Cato, can you fix those pictures, so they can be seen again. I copied them to my computer, but I don't have them anymore when my reference-folder got bit of damage.... I'd like to copy them again. If it's not too big thing. I removed those Revell-Monogram- markings from the chassis plate... -
This is cool! And great idea of using '67 Chevelle's chassis parts. I like the color combo, and paintjob looks very good too. Stance is great, and wheels and tires look really nice. Engine detailing is spectacular. Only thing which is bad, is that it's not my build.

Thanks, Tony and Mark! Those Weiand valve covers can be found from AMT '66 Nova Pro Street. I'm not sure about the round 2 release, but I hve the old one, which comes with those. But I think, some other old AMT kit has them too, I just don't know, what kit actually.

revell 48 ford custom - painted and cleared
W-409 replied to MachinistMark's topic in WIP: Model Cars
This looks very interesting! This will be very clean Custom when it gets finished. Great, and about rust... I prefer shiny and clean cars, but rusty Rat Rod for example, can be looking good too. But shiny is the best. -
That looks real good. Rusting is great. These Rat Rods are always really interesting to see, keep us posted.

I glued the wheels and tires on their places. They did fit nicely and stance looks pretty good, I think. Maybe that front end could be little lower, but that's good enough for me. The hood isn't still ready for primering, it needs some more bondo, tomorrow I'm going to work with it. Maybe after that I can paint some primer to it too... But body is also primered, but it needs still some work, but it's gettin' better and better. Thanks for looking, comments welcome.

Finally an update. Pretty much done since last update... I got the front axle system painted. First I painted it red. It needed two coats of paint before it was completely red. Then I painted some blue there, and some bolts are painted white. Same thing in the rear, but I had to make propeller shaft longer, before painting any details. I have no joints between the propeller shaft and transmission, but that connection can't be seen so well, that it doesn't matter. Also painted inner wheels red, and other side is black. I assembled the wheels and tires. Axles are glued on their places, next I'm going to install tires. Those axles fit fine, I must do some little things to the chassis also. Body is sanded smooth, I'm going to spray new primer coat later today, then I can see if it needs still more bondo and sanding. I'm going to go with these seats, I'll paint them brown...

WOW, great job on the detailing of those engines, and that interior looks very good too. That skull is perfect idea, and it looks very good too. I'm waiting to see this one finished.
-
Great build! I haven't seen too many Mustangs being built, this one is great exception. Color looks very good, and paintjob is awesome. I like the engine too. Those stripes fit nicely. Great and clean build.
-
Wow, paintjob is amazing. So smooth and SHINY. Color looks good too. I like the body lines, '36 Ford is great basis for Custom. That grille looks realistic, and this is very clean build without big mistakes.
-
Great build. Drag Cars are always nice to watch. I'd like to see picture from the engine too. Paintjob loks good, and decals fit nicely. Great job on the side trim also. Maybe I must build one Thunderbolt too..

Custom Chevelle Finished Moved to under glass
W-409 replied to customsrus's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Wow that looks mean. Great idea of using Camaro's top. This would be great prototype of 2012 year model Chevelle. Maybe 15" NASCAR style tires and wheels would look really good under this, but those Camaro wheels are looking really interesting too. I can't wait to see more work with it. -
39 Chevy Wagon Rod.........................
W-409 replied to Space Cowboy's topic in WIP: Model Cars
I have this kit too, but I'm not sure what to do with it.... I already started building it as Custom, but it wasn't good idea... Then I've been thinking Pro Street, or Gasser.... Well, hard to decide. But anyway, first thing, I did, I sold those wheels, tires, too modern interior parts, and too modern engine away. This project sounds really interesting, but I'd like to see 15" wheels on that body, those just don't fit. -
Thanks! I worked with the door panels. I glued door handles on, and installed window cranks from '66 Olds 442's photoetch parts. Pictures aren't good, that interior looks really bad in these pictures, but it's better in live. I also started working on the pedals, but they are still WIP, so maybe tomorrow I can post picture of them. Thanks for looking, comments welcome.

Chat Room is back on, new server updates also
W-409 replied to Gregg's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
When the chat room wasn't working, you had great panic, "we must have it back." Now It's back. BUT: Chat 0 It was like that yesterday morning, afternoon and evening. There's no one this morning either... Well, how about last night? Well, some of you might have a day on that time, I was just wondering, if there's some people at that time. But anyway, it's not so popular, as I thought when watching these topics about it. It's a great "bonus" for this site, but it's pretty hard to use it on night time... We have pretty much users here on the daytime too, but no one is in the chat. This is just my opinion, and don't take it too personally, I'm just bit curious about this thing. This forum if of course the main thing, and it's great that it's working this nicely. -
Ok, it's FRIDAY!!! Today I'll see if I got it right, or not. (I believe, not. As usual. )

This would be cool prototype car... But I'd like to go without spoiler. Other way which would look cool, Drag Car. I don't know, where it is heading, but nice job with it so far, I'm watching.
