Miles - thanks a million ! I used the RCA cables and all is good. I knew it had to be real simple.

My son had it hooked up to a cheaper quality system before I moved. I can play currently but the sound only comes through the tv and it is just not as great. Nothing more satisfying as the boom of a 50 cal on surround Edited as problem has been solved - Thank you !

I can do that tomorrow , thank you .

Sorry to distract your fine build again, I dug out that straight sixer and looked it over and started assembling it. Nothing short of some small sanding sticks, files and a few other tools cant clean up. Not the highest quality but good enough for my applications. I have paid more for worse I should have it finished sometime tomorrow.

Peterbilt 351 project
Old Buckaroo replied to Old Buckaroo's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Wow, it has been such a long time since an update on this one. Going to try and get this one on the display shelf . Made window glass out of some clear packaging. There is a scratch here and there but I have to work with what I have on hand. Speaking of, the BMF kinda looks like "Hammered Rat doodoo" . But I kid you not I have had this stuff since I was 15. Yeah - 36 years I have been packing this stuff around with Japanese writing on the backing paper. It has not fared too well and has a lot of creases in it. But I still have it I have no idea where I hid the wheels and tires but they are here somewhere. -
Brian ,I picked up the Detroit In-Line 6-71 from Kens Customs. The quality is really good, a few air pockets but no near as bad those some of those Blown Hemi Engines I use to assemble a decade ago and cost three times as much. Plus it is that white resin that is easy to work with. I would buy 6 more if I could figure out what to put them in.

Revell Kenworth heavy hauler
Old Buckaroo replied to Old Buckaroo's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Brian, thanks for the vote of confidence. I had forgotten about this post until somebody quizzed me the other day and I had to backtrack to figure out "What the heck ?" I am in the process right now of planning to build one similar without the kit. Thanks for all the advice and tips on this truck. Scottie - Beautiful save ! -
From the pictures I have seen of the real trucks they were pretty plain. I needed a plain exhaust so that was today's project. I stole a pen from my Wife - " Call before you Dig" sure hope she does not need that one - but I have never seen her with a shovel in her hand before Just to tempt my sanity I also made a rain cap which does not show in the picture very well due to background washout. I think this is pretty much it for modifications to the chassis. Thanks for looking in

Ford WT9000 "The Blue Mule"
Old Buckaroo replied to Stuntman Mike's topic in Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Only seven grey hairs - that isn't too bad ! What a fabulous build the Ford WT9000 is one of my most favorite trucks. The pictures look super and you did one'heck'of a job for this to be your first semi let alone with a resin conversion. I hope to see you building more trucks. -
GMC B-7000

Every time you add an update I start from the beginning and follow it through. This is such an incredible and unique project. The engine side project really is impressive also. -
I dont know how other modelers attach their conversion cabs. I needed something to where I could place the cab, be able to make other things and remove the cab for ease of assembly. This is my method - Aluminum tubing that has an inside diameter that is a perfect fit with mechanics wire. I used a piece of tubing between the tilt horns for stability and two pieces mounted to the cab with styrene backing . I am happy with the results although there was still a lot of trial and error to get the cab mounts to where I wanted them. The nice thing with the styrene back was I could use tape to hold it in place while checking alignment and measurements.

This and the Pete has to be the best kits ever manufactured. The possibilities with them are endless and they are affordable. I really like your method for shaping the curved panel . This will be a fun project to watch One of the coolest tips I have seen with these snap trucks on hiding that tab on the battery boxes - It was painted amber to look like a chicken light.

Gator - thanks for stopping in Another small update but a huge obstacle out of the way - Exhaust piping. That has to be my most unfavorite part about building truck models. Perhaps if I would just build one out of the box. It does not look like much but I can assure you there are over a dozen segments that make up this piece of piping. Anyway I am happy to have it done.
