  1. Every time you add an update I start from the beginning and follow it through. This is such an incredible and unique project. The engine side project really is impressive also.
  2. I dont know how other modelers attach their conversion cabs. I needed something to where I could place the cab, be able to make other things and remove the cab for ease of assembly. This is my method - Aluminum tubing that has an inside diameter that is a perfect fit with mechanics wire. I used a piece of tubing between the tilt horns for stability and two pieces mounted to the cab with styrene backing . I am happy with the results although there was still a lot of trial and error to get the cab mounts to where I wanted them. The nice thing with the styrene back was I could use tape to hold it in place while checking alignment and measurements.
  3. This and the Pete has to be the best kits ever manufactured. The possibilities with them are endless and they are affordable. I really like your method for shaping the curved panel . This will be a fun project to watch One of the coolest tips I have seen with these snap trucks on hiding that tab on the battery boxes - It was painted amber to look like a chicken light.
  4. Gator - thanks for stopping in Another small update but a huge obstacle out of the way - Exhaust piping. That has to be my most unfavorite part about building truck models. Perhaps if I would just build one out of the box. It does not look like much but I can assure you there are over a dozen segments that make up this piece of piping. Anyway I am happy to have it done.
  5. I dont like mixers , perhaps because they were always on the job sites I worked making a big mess. But that is a superb and very real looking model you have ! I cant believe your going to give it away , but very impressed with the courtesy to the company .
  6. Jeff - really impressive scratch building, reminds me of old custom rods from another era. I would figure that tank is full of Diesel to fuel that thirsty engine !
  7. Interior first for me, then I just use some painters tape on the inside behind the window openings when It comes time to paint the exterior.
  8. Be sure to label them as "What Not to Do" Thanks Brian and Mark Jeff is there any other engine out there other then Detroits ? I made up a bumper for this truck, kind of a mix of two prototypes thrown into one Thanks for looking in
  9. Your right, I have never heard of this truck before nor can I pronounce what model it is. But I sure appreciate fine modeling skills no matter what the subject is. Besides it is a Truck , what is there not to like !
  10. Wow - those front lug cap covers are really cool. Some real nice polish work also
  11. page two already so here is the latest progress. I modified the Astro tanks by making new endcaps out of styrene and removed the center support strap. The battery box is out of the spare parts box - not sure what truck it is from. Thanks for looking in and commenting
  12. Sam - That old Mack is way cool. are you driving an Isuzu delivery truck ?
  13. I like the subtle wear in the paint and the spokers on the rear - Real tough looking truck !
  14. Super sharp crisp truck combined with some sneaky updates - Very cool !
  15. http://www.modeltruckin.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=2_144&products_id=633 Nice engine, how was the casting ?
  16. I think her skirt is on backwards .
  17. Hey I remember those old Krako Breakos and those fuzzbusters that were half the size of a shoebox. Shag carpet I try not to remember... Making forward progress but slowly. I am not even going to tell you how much time I have spent getting the cab mounted and lined up. I have it in the ballpark and currently modifying the Astro round fuel tanks.
  18. What a fabulous trio ! I saw the movie when I was 12 and have been a Kenworth fan ever since. Very nice work and bonus points for the restoration of the truck and trailer - Wow.
  19. Ben - It can be found here with many other conversion articles. http://public.fotki.com/modeltrucks25thscale/model_magazine_articles/car_modeller/cm28_nov_1994_conve/cm_1994_11_nov_01.html
  20. I bet they got sawed off for something else. I cant remember where I got this from - just stumbled upon it looking for other forgotten treasures. Thanks everyone for helping out
  21. Jeff, The airbags have a void aka as real cheap looking. Thanks for the help.
  22. Most of the trucks I use to work on had Eaton transmissions. They were usually red or blue from the factory but painted to match the frames on most. But - I have not been a fleet mechanic since the year 2000
  23. I found this in a bag under my bench - I have no clue what it is for or who made it. Do any of you recognize it ?
  24. Ken, that is such a sweet looking truck. Looks to be right out of Owner Operator magazine circa 1970's.
  25. Nice chassis work ! Will you be scratchbuilding your hood or using a resin ?
