So how do you work on this?
Old Buckaroo replied to Mike77's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I would guess like a bus, removable panels. Fact is that thing looks like a bus, all it is missing is a greyhound. -

(sigh) Alaskan Hauler and the Doubles.... Good for you Sam, those are some really nice kits ! -
Dodge 9 Car Transporter
Old Buckaroo replied to Mopar - D's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
This has become one of my most favorite truck builds of all time. That station wagon is the topping. Man what a car - can you tell me more about it ? (kit, resin, promo) I am sure my model collection is incomplete now as I dont have a station wagon. -
Transtar C-O 4070A Rebuild

That is an annoying bugger, I need to find a fuel cap to hide that ! Dennis - Thank you . I need to get this finished so my level of stress will drop . -

That sounds like a good way to grow up. I remember seeing a few doublebunks when I was a teenager (late 1970 & eraly 1980's) I thought they were the coolest. Thanks Gordan - It was one of those ideas that so far has worked out Dennis - It was a challenge gluing in that foil I was not at all impressed with the kit manifolds and pipes. Reminded me more of a boat exhaust. I robbed a couple Cali . Hauler manifolds and then got to fab up the pipes. This is the second set - the first time I did not place the fuel tanks - ooops. Here is all my fancy pipework before it gets hidden by the cab. Thanks for looking in -

Clayton - your going to need a moving truck just for all the kits your acquiring. -
Transtar C-O 4070A Rebuild
Old Buckaroo replied to Old Buckaroo's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
I have been dragging my feet on this one . The final assembly is something I look so forward to but dread doing it. I wanted to add sound insulation under the cab. I cut aluminum foil in scale 24"x 24" squares then trimmed them to fit under the doghouse. I also need to spray the bottom of the cab and around the insides a bit. Once that is done next will be the lights, mirrors, grab handles ect. My retainer strips are not as straight as I would like - but I can live with them (maybe) -
Pete 353 *my way*
Old Buckaroo replied to Old Buckaroo's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
This week I have been making forward progress. I always have problems using prebuilt frames , if it does not have a twist it is curved. This one had a little of both. The twist is permanent due to the cross members being glue welded. I cut the front axle airbags loose and used some styrene disk to shim the axle to level it out. The headache rack now has support legs instead of a leggo block. Arnd -The hood is a butterfly, perhaps the scribed lines will show in the angle of this pic. Also got the Detroit settled in and fabricated the drive lines. Added treadplate behind the fifth wheel. (saw a really cool 1/1 353 over at Tim's site that way) I believe the frame is almost ready for primer. Thanks for looking in and commenting -
Dang, Italian was the first thing I thought of. I had a book on early axis aircraft and weapons and remember seeing that picture .

WWI German tank ? No idea of the technical name.

Peterbilt 359 from AMT kit
Old Buckaroo replied to Roadrunner's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
The trailer looks to be coming along smoothly in pictures. I haven't even opened the one I have to see what the decals everyone is bragging about. -
Mark - They were AMT kit supplied, I sawed them off a pogo- stick. Dennis - Thank you ! I use an enamel base as I am not a "acrylic type guy" , adjust my compressor down to about 10psi and use very ,very light mist coats to where you can barely tell there it it there (more of a damp look) and lots of them. Alclad is one of those things the more I use it the better it gets. I am still learning its quirks. Last pic for this thread - Thank you to all who followed and commented !

First let me tell you how envious I am of you for having such great group of friends. Man, I wish there was some like minded people like that close to me. The truck looks fabulous , I think it looks better then the real ones that use to rumble by back in Washington state. You really did a Top Notch job on it !
-
Rich - in my previous experiences I have found that the less touchy the better it is. I started using Alclad on Aircraft builds and found it is best for the last step. Didn't want you guys to think I am slacking off today - I did not care for any of the pogo-sticks in any of the kits I had on hand. So I made my own out of brass and copper. After paint and accessories. And this is how the Reo looked before I got sidetracked with the pogo-stick Thanks for looking and commenting

What is this part?
Old Buckaroo replied to truckabilly's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Pictures of the real deal are most likely hard to find. Somewhere I have a tech manual that has them drawn out - but I have not seen that box since the move. I will try to find them though in the near future . -

Old Buckaroo replied to truckabilly's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I believe that is a crude rendition of the self levelers for the air bags. -
For the past two days I have been doing the final detail and assembly work. These behind the sleeper stacks have been a lot of work. That is wax paper wrapped around the stacks so the tape does not remove the Alclad. Someday I think I will just build a kit out of the box. Notice my fancy wheel chock ! I am not taking any chances of this one rolling away. Thanks for looking in
