That is a nice Mack ! The fuel filler neck and cap really grabbed my attention on this one, is that kit supplied or aftermarket ?

Tom, hands down you have the best wife ever. Any wife that will buy multiple kits is a Winner. :wub: The rest of us have to justify multiple kits, our best retort is comparing them to shoes !

Very impressive background history on this truck. I like seeing models get second chances (or third , or fourth) What makes this realy cool is you have a photo progression. I like the concept of starting out with the basic wrecker. This will be a fun project to follow. I so want to build a Dons Truck Plaza Wrecker someday

This kit does not realy bother me as I have a different perspective on it. Growing up on ranches and being a Class 8 roadside service mechanic leaves nothing to the imagination. I have seen Peterbilts rebuilt with KW fenders that will make you do a double take , and cabovers with some really unique grills ! I drove a Fuel truck years ago that started life as a Mack, I left the company for a year or so and went back to work for them again. My old Mack had went off a moutainside and was rebuilt with a KW cab and hood during my absense ! I am happy just to see another truck kit that has great potential for a custom build. I have seen a few Marmons built really nicely using this hood and a IH cab. If the price is right I will buy several .

Nice looking project. I always thought this kit would look at home with a wrecker body for as much as wreckers are pimped out anymore. Could you elaberate more on the tip from Chuck on the cab mounts ?

I wish you would have spoken earlier , I recently gave away a KW kit just to clear up some shelf space. I suggest you place a feeler on the want list , as I would love to see this truck redone.

After studying that picture more , I am thinking that is the brake lever. But still there should be something to engage power to the trans with no visible shifter.

I am not familiar with your 1/1 subject. But from being around all sorts of equipment I would guess that lever to be the clutch - like on early dozers and tractors.

This is a Super looking Freightliner. That color scheme just jumps out , yep I am impressed with this one !

This is a kit I have always wanted myself. After you get yours built and all the bugs worked out I will pick one up !

The Revell "snap" Peterbilt and Kenworth in 1/25 scale are just the ticket. Both can be found for under $24.00 and the possibilities are endless. Sleepers can be sawed off , frames shortened or lengthened. Lot of guys use the Mobious wheel set to really dress them up. Wow, what a great pleasure it has been looking over the past three pages. I did not see anything I wouldnt want on my shelf. All of you guys are amazing with your trucks. This year was pretty sparse for model building. I have two that I finished - An old Cali Hauler off ebay that the engine was built by "Glue Bombed Industries" And Freightliner Coe I backdated to 1968 You guys have definetly motivated me to get back to work.

It is not all gone, there are students who still ride their horses to school where my Wife teaches at in Montana.

Richard - This is a fantastic thread you started. I copied your original and gave it to my Wife who teaches a "one room schoolhouse" in Montana. She enjoyrd very much also. Thank you for the good memories !

Casey - You hit the lotto with those kits. I had all those 1/32 trucks many years ago and really enjoyed building them and admiring them on the shelf. Are you going to build them or hide them in the model vault ?
