  1. Un-stripped phone wires are way too big for 1/25-24 ignition wires. They can be used for fuel, oil hard lines, and ignition wires in larger scales. Sometimes the insulation can be used for boots slipped over properly sized ignition wires. If you want wire that can be properly draped, try lead wire from a fly fishing store, or Cabellas. It only comes in grey, but can be painted.
  2. If light weight was an unfair advantage in this case, Mark Martin would have won a dozen Daytona 500s and double the number of races that he has won.
  3. What does the term interference, on some colors, mean?
  4. DeTomasso designed the Pantera. Giotto Bizzarrini, who designed the '62 Ferrari GTO and cars with his own name, like the 5300 GT, designed the AMX-3. Six cars were produced, before the plug was pulled.
  5. Could you post a link Pat? I did about 5 unsuccessful searches for it.
  6. Most people buy flip flop, color shifting, or chameleon paint. They're not that rare anymore. Alcad sells some. Also look at fingernail polish.
  7. Please empty your mail box.
  8. Do the recessed fold lines go inside or out?
  9. Michaels sells it, probably Hobby Lobby too. Be sure to use a coupon. In the spray paint section. Would be surprised if ACE didn't carry it, but they don't have coupons.
  10. I'm going to reserve comment for now, since I asked Nick to be one of his unbiased judges.
  11. We're curious. This is a trans continent race, but you are going to judge entries on how pretty they are, rather than the possibility of whether they could win such a race? Is this correct? Some of these cars would have trouble running 50 miles, forget 3,000.
  12. Several facts that I have learned about street cars... 1. Trucks are to be borrowed or rented, when needed. 2. Nothing is more versatile than a hatchback. 3. It is always more fun to drive a slow car fast, than a fast car slow. 4. You do not need 4WD (for so many reasons), if you have the right tires. Go test drive a VW GTI, or something similar.
  13. Very original and nicely done. Thanks for posting the wip pixs.
  14. Very original. Thanks for thinking outside the box.
  15. Too many variables. 50,000 max on a vintage English clutch. 100,000 min on a Japanese car. Personally I have gone through three clutches in one day with less than 2 miles on each, and have sold a Celica SR-5 with 130,000 on the original clutch.
  16. Pleasing, but not very exciting. Then again, the other entrants were absolute dogs.
  17. Very original. Well done.
  18. Finally some good pixs of the front and rear wheels.
  19. I too use a digital-readout caliper. Just push the mm/" button to convert. No calculator needed. KISS
  20. Ace-Garage Guy and the rest of you are right on, but over-thinking the whole thing. We usually work in 1:25 or 1:24 scale. The mm scale on almost every ruler is 1:25.4 scale. So I just use mm. 1mm = 1 scale inch. Ie, 2mm rod is perfect for 2 inch roll bar tubing, 1.57mm (1/16") rod is 1.5 inch tubing. Close enough for hand grenades and tactical nuclear weapons.
  21. Going 90 I aint scaredy, cause I've got the Virgin Mary, assuring me that I won't go to hell.
  22. They were probably starting to switch at that time. I used it on a sports car I built during the winter of '69. Got Aeroquip through places that sold military surplus. Some of it had a flat black cloth covering.
